9/2 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

AEW Dynamite is live from the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, TX. Our commentary team is Excalibur and Tony Schiavone.

We get a video recapping the big events at AEW All In on Sunday night.

Will Ospreay starts the show the same as last week, with a mic on his way to the ring, but this time, he is wearing the AEW World title. He says he has been on a bender since Sunday. He says his words will never do justice to the amount of gratitude he feels toward the fans. He then puts over Kenny Omega. He reminds us they each have two wins over each other, but he is Omega’s equal, and he is satisfied with that. But if Omega isn’t satisfied, he should name the time and place, and they will sort it out.

He says that his idols are now his rivals. He says he is the standard now; he is the Billy Goat, the Best In The World, our AEW World Champion. If you want to take it from him, you’ll have to walk through the same fire he did. He thanks the members of the United Empire. He says they will be working in Japan, and he wants to create a United Empire in AEW.

He is interrupted by Ricochet, who has Toa Leona and Bishop Kaun with him on the stage. He says he came out because they have unfinished business. He says the match he and Omega had was magical. He says he and Ospreay have known each other for years, and Ospreay would not be where he is without Ricochet. He then says he demands the first opportunity. 

Gabe Kidd and the Dogs come out and say that Ospreay took the opportunity to be the first British champion from him. Ricochet and Kidd have words. As the Dogs come toward the ring, the United Empire hits the ring to defend him. Ospreay says they can fight now, or get changed and fight in the main event. 

Swerve Strickland and the New Level (Kofi and Austin Creed) AEW Trios Champions w/ Prince Nana vs The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz, Myron Reed, and Dezmond Xavier)

Swerve and Reed start the match, dodging each other’s attacks until Swerve gets a head scissors takedown. They run the ropes, and Reed leaps for a crossbody, and Swerve catches him, tosses him to the corner, and Swerve knocks him down again. 

Creed and Xavier tag in. Creed and Xavier go hold/counterhold quickly. Creed finally gets a senton and then tags in Kofi. They double-team Xavier. Wentz tags in, and they keep double-teaming, with Creed tossing Kofi onto Wentz for one only. Wentz gets a tornado, and we get Reed, and they are able to triple-team Swerve as New Level is sent to the floor. Swerve is sent to the floor, and the Rascalz set for dives, but they are pulled to the floor on Wentz, and then they hit DDTs on the floor for Xavier and Reed. 

Kofi tags in and gets a dive from the top onto the Rascalz as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Creed is the babyface in peril through the break. He hits a Liger bomb on Wentz and gets the hot tag to Kofi, who runs wild after Reed tags in. Swerve tags in and gets a delayed vertical suplex for two, broken up by Wentz. Wentz tries for a leaping attack, and Swerve drops him. Xavier tags in and interrupts the House Call from Swerve for two. 

All six men are fighting in the ring for a bit, but the Rascalz get rid of the New Level and triple team Swerve for two, broken up by the New Levels. Kofi tags in, and Xavier cuts him off. Xavier tries for a dive, but Kofi catches him and drives him into the floor. We get dives and dives and dives. 

Kofi and Reed trade flying kicks, and Swerve gets a House Call on Reed. Creed holds Xavier for Kofi to come off the top into Xavier. Swerve gets a House Call for the pin and the win.

Winners and still AEW Trios Champions: Swerve Strickland and the New Level.

As they head to the back, we get the Young Bucks coming to the ring, and they all have words. Matt Jackson says they won’t complain about being screwed because they've been done far worse, but did Cope and Cage have to beat them like that? Do they feel good about how they beat them? Are they satisfied with how they did it? He calls them out.

Instead, they get FTR and Stokely coming to the ring. Stokesley says there are only two people in the ring who matter: Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. He says the Bucks have had two chances for the title, and they have failed both times. Dax hates the people of Texas, and they politely ask him to be quiet. He disregards them. 

Dax tells the Bucks that daddy is home now, and they lost again. He says it is time for the Bucks to take a step back as they become the tag team champions. The Bucks say FTR has beaten them, but they have beaten FTR as well, and the Bucks have never said I quit. 

Cope and Cage come to the stage, and Cage says they don’t ask how you won; they ask who won. He says they were supposed to be the old guys, past their prime, but they have beaten both teams for the titles. He is surprised they aren’t willing to take a 50% pay cut and go somewhere else. 

Cope says his job is to be the voice of reason. He’s not pleased with how they won, and they are better than that, but there is a way to make it right. Cope says it will be a three-way match at All Out, and it may just involve chairs, tables, and ladders.

Lexi is with Ospreay and the United Empire (Henare, Akira, and Callum Newman), but they need a fifth member. Andrade El Idolo shows up and asks How You Know.

Darby Allin (TNT Champion) vs Mark Davis

Don Callis joins commentary.

Davis works over Darby before the bell, surprising him at ringside. Davis tosses Darby over the timekeeper’s table as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Darby escapes a power bomb and gets a headbutt. Darby goes to the rail over an entrance and hits a coffin drop. Darby slams Davis into the barricade and then gets a running crossbody to send them back to the ringside area. Darby hits Davis with a skateboard, and Davis nails Darby with an elbow strike. They brawl at ringside, and Davis rolls Darby into the ring, and the match actually starts. We then hear a loud electrical buzz, and both Callis and Tony are silent. 

Davis tosses Darby into the corner. Davis just batters Darby around the ring. Davis covers Darby for two, and Tony is back. Davis gets a clothesline that turns Darby inside out for two as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Darby is tying Davis to the corner with the tag rope and batters him down. Davis still slams Darby and pulls himself free. Callus’s headset is replaced as Davis gets a two-count. They throw chops, with Darby ducking but getting caught by Davis. Darby rolls back for two. Darby gets a Code Red for two. Davis clotheslines Darby to the floor and tumbles over himself. Darby goes to the top for a dropkick into Davis on the floor. 

Both men dive into the ring and 9, but Darby goes to the top for a pair of coffin drops for the pin and the win.

Winner and still TNT Champion: Darby Allin

Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero hit the ring to attack Darby, but Steven Borden hits the ring to fight them off. Davis and Borden face off, but Josh Alexander attacks Borden from behind. The Don Callis family stands triumphant in the ring.

We are shown Andrade El Idoli winning a world title shot at All In.

We get a video of MJF screaming that Will Ospreay is what is wrong with his life. He goes over how Ospreay cost him the title in his match with Omega. MJF puts himself over and says he is being screwed over despite the fact that he is the biggest star in the company. He says payback is coming, but no one knows when. 

Megan Bayne w/Lena Kross vs Alex Windsor w/Jamie Hayter

They lock up, and Bayne forces them to the ropes. Bayne breaks with a haymaker and a shoulder tackle. She covers Alex for one. Bayne then gets a series of shoulder thrusts in the corner.  Bayne misses a chop, and Alex throws chops in the corner. Alex runs into a shoulder tackle from Bayne for two.

Alex gets a series of attacks in the corner and then leaps for a crossbody, and Bayne catches her for a fallaway slam. Bayern is sent to the floor by a low bridge, and Alex gets a cannonball senton from the apron to the floor as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Bayern whips Alex to the corner and then the other corner. Alex charges into Bayne twice, and the third time, Bayne gets a big boot. Alex gets loud chops and then a dropkick on Bayne in the ropes, followed by a DDT for two. Alex gets a leaping clothesline from the top. Alex tries to lift Bayne, but Bayne fights her off. Bayne gets a German suplex, then gets a second, and finally a lariat for two. 

Bayne pummels Alex, and when she picks her up, Alex gets a rollup for two. Bayne gets a Falcon Arrow for two. Alex gets a side slam for two. They fight on the apron, and Bayne gets a big boot to knock Alex to the floor. Alex trips Bayne, and they are both on the floor. They charge at each other and clothesline each other down. Kross goes for the belt, and Hayter stops her. As they fight, Bayne nails Alex with the belt.

Bayne rolls Alex into the ring and gets a running power bomb, the Mega Bomb, for the pin and the win.

Winner: Megan Bayne

Lexi is with Chris Jericho in the back, and Nick Wayne interrupts him, and they have words. It quickly turns into throwing hands. Nick gets a low blow to end the fight.

Mercedes Mone comes to the ring for her championship celebration. She thanks the crowd and says she hasn’t stopped smiling since All In. She puts herself over and reminds us she has won world titles in four major companies. But to do so, she had to leave Willow Nightingale behind. She makes fun of Willow and yells at the crowd cheering for Willow, and says that Willow is a bully for busting up her face. 

She then thanks Willow because look who is smiling now. She did everything she said she would do, and now everyone is in the shadow of the CEO. She says what she wants for the title doesn’t exist yet, but it will.

Thekla is in the crowd with a mic and a drink. She says she likes Mone, but Mone has never been Toxic. She thanks Mone for what she did to Willow. Thekla then says Mone has been calling people dumb bitches, and she hates a dumb bitch calling people dumb bitches. Thekla says Mone is the CEO, but she doesn’t work for her, downs her drink, and says to let her know when she will give Thekla her title back.

In the back, Persephone and Britt Baker, with the TBS title and they talk about their partnership. 

Jon Moxley (AEW Continental Champion) vs AR Fox - Eliminator match

They trade waistlocks and go to the mat. They come up with Mox having a full nelson into a side headlock and then arm bars. Fox gets a rollup for one. They run the ropes, and Mox gets a shoulder tackle. Fox gets a running strike and dodges a charge from Mox so that Mox goes to the floor. Fox launches off the ring post onto Mox on the floor. Mox is rolled into the ring, and Fox mixes Mox. Mox gets a dropkick as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox gets ten in the corner and then charges clotheslines. Fox gets a big boot and a leaping cutter on Mox. Fox gets a clothesline, and Mox doesn’t move. Fox hits him again, and Mox still stands. Fox does it again and slaps Fox. Fox gets a cutter on Mox that finally drops him. Fox goes for a diving senton from the top, and Mox gets his knees up and follows with a King Kong lariat. Fox reverses a move from Mox and hits a 450 splash from the top for two.

Mox is able to get a rear naked choke and then hits a Death Rider for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jon Moxley

In the back, Lexi is with Don Callis, Kyle Fletcher, and Kevin Knight. Knight says a whole bunch of people caused him to lose his title, and Kyle starts to argue with him. Callus says his plan was only followed by one person, who still has his title. He then says he will have Kyle and Knight will tag up on Collision. Okada shows and says, “Family, Kyle,” which causes more arguing. 

United Empire (Andrade El Idolo, Will Ospreay, Akira, Calvin Newman, and Henare) vs Gabe Kidd, Clark Connors, and The Demand (Ricochet, Toa Leona, and Bishop Kaun)

This match starts 5 minutes after the hour, so we are again in overtime.

Ospreay starts with Ricochet, and Ricochet dodges the lock-up and tags in Toa, who calls for Henare, who tags in. They throw hands back and forth. Toa finally clotheslines Henare down, and Kaun is tagged in. They double-slam Henare. Kaun gets a senton for two. Connors tags in and takes over, battering Henare, who is able to get a shoulder block, which sets off the tag team alarm, and everyone is fighting in and around the ring. Andrade dives onto everyone, and the entire United Empire team poses with a woman at ringside. They keep brawling as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Akira is the babyface in peril. Akira gets a leaping cutter on Connors and tags in Newman. He and Connors run the ropes, and he gets a big kick on Connors. He then does the same thing to Kaun. He and Kaun throw hands, and they fight in the corner with Newman getting a rapid series of strikes and a big kick. 

Henare tags in and he gets a spinning Samoan drop and a senton for two. Kidd and Andrade fight in the ring, and people are sent over the top rope as someone else joins the fight. Akira is left in the ring with Toa and Kaun, and he gets a rapid series of strikes on both, wearing himself out. Akira dives onto Kidd on the floor. Toa and Kaun charge into him on the floor.

We finally get Ospreay and Ricochet in the ring, and they go back and forth with huge high flying moves. Ospreay gets a corkscrew kick for two. Ricochet gets a handspring elbow strike, and Connors tags in for a power slam on Ospreay. Ospreay gets a pair of kicks, and from here each person takes out the last person in the ring. 

We go back to Connors and Ospreay, and Andrade gets a running strike on Connors, and Ospreay gets a hidden blade on Connors for the pin and the win.

Winners: United Empire

Kidd attacks Andrade after the match, and Kidd tosses Andrade over the announcer’s table into Excalibur. Kidd gets into the ring, and as he and Ospreay fight, Kidd gets a low blow. This brings out the Death Riders. Mox takes the chair from Kidd, and they go face to face, shouting at each other. Kidd picks up the chair, and Mox stands in front of Ospreay to stop him. 

Andrade attacks Kidd, and they fight through the crowd. Mox stands in the ring, waiting for Ospreay to get up. Mox puts a hand on Ospreay’s shoulder, and they stare at each other…and then we see on the big screen that Ospreay will face Mox at All Out.
