Spotlight Match: Handyman Jake Gray vs Richard Adonis
Adonis joins us again from New Age Wrestling and he goes right at the handyman. Gray fires out of the corner and stuns him with a flying knee. It’s worth noting that Devin Reno is on commentary right now. They go back and forth and Handyman slams Adonis down for the three. Solid opener. We’ve decided that Adonis is a poodle.
Match 1: DJ Powers (w/ Nick Battee) vs Jermaine Marbury
Battee and Powers are looking to put this rivalry with Marbury to bed tonight. Of course, it’s Battee who started this by ambushing Jermaine while disguised as Benny the Basketball. Powers and Marbury have a good match but after Jermaine hits the ankle breaker cutter, Batte tries to interfere with the pin…Marbury grabs Nick’s arms and uses them for leverage to steal sole redemption and the pin on Powers! Battee is furious and wants to end this. Marbury says they can have it out…but it’s gonna be a TIME OUT match! We saw this in Worcester before…can Battee find a way through the referee replay???
Match 2: Paris Van Dale & Sloane Jacobs vs Shannon LaVangie & Ruthie Jay
They are doing a good job of building Ruthie Jay as a strong babyface. Sloane and Paris take their time pummeling Shannon early. Jay with the hot tag in and wipes them both out in the corner. Sloane breaks up a tag finish with a glam slam on Jay. She tries another on Shannon but almost gets rolled up. LaVangie hits a sparkle splash on Jacobs for the win. Where WAS Paris in those last two minutes?
Shannon grabs the mic and says that since she’s on a winning streak, she deserves a title shot….so she’s calling out Kylie Alexa next week to challenge for the Wrestling Open Women’s championship.
Match 3: Giorgio Lawrence vs Flyin’ Ryan O’Neill
Lawrence is a kickboxing champion….so let’s see if he can kick a bird. Turns out, he can! A LOT. Giorgio says this is gonna be Ryan’s last match before he throws a kill shot…and O’Neill starts to comeback. He quickly drops Lawrence and hits a swanton for the three.
Ryan celebrates the win as Dustin Waller slingshots into the ring with a clothesline. Big suplex drops Ryan on his head. “Did you think I forgot about you?” Waller invites Ryan, one of the few people to pin Dustin in this building, to come find him at his earliest convenience.
We’re up on the stage with Anthony Vecchio. On Friday, the Shooter Boys lost their championship match against the Stetson Ranch….and as a result, they can no longer be a tag team at Open. Vecchio is out here to say goodbye to the Shooter Boys. Ortiz isn’t here but he is. Vecchio says THANK YOU to everyone who has supported them, including Wrestling Open who helped them have two of the best years of their lives. They went from winning their first Open tag team championship at the last Americanrana…to losing their team this year. But he’s not MAD…now Wrestling Open will be giving a platform for Anthony Vecchio to show what he can do on his own. No Ortiz?
BRG is out here now with Oxx Adams. BRG is deciding to call out Bobby Casale, who is the new “it thing” here.
Match 4: BRG (w/ Oxx Adams) vs Bobby Casale
Brett says his match will be at HIS pace. Do I have time to go grab a brownie from Tag Team Treats? Casale doesn’t care. He gutwrenches Gosselin and tosses him back. Bobby eats whatever BRG throws, laughs, and beats on him some more. Oxx provides some distraction from the outside that lets Brett tries to get some damage in. Brett throws himself at Casale and Bobby starts to comeback…he’s gonna hit the Bobbinator? Oxx throws a punch and draws the DQ! They go to pummel Casale but Anthony Vecchio runs out to make the save! Vecchio says it’s a new chapter and next week, he’s teaming with Bobby to fight Simply the Best!
Main Event: Devin Reno and The Verdict (Bryce Donovan & Vinny Scalise w/ Mark Sterling) vs Marcus Mathers and Buster & the Brain (Alec Price & Jordan Oliver) (Von Erich Classic Final)
It’s main event time! Ref Gina has the Von Erich Classic trophy! Before tonight, I was gonna say this was an even odds match…but Bustah & the Brain are riding high after winning the IWTV Tag Team Championships on Friday. Can Reno & the Verdict halt the momentum? Both these teams go HARD. Verdict and Reno try to leverage the numbers game and blindsides to get the job done. Marcus, Price and Oliver grit their teeth and try to get it done with some crazy triple tandem moves. Reno eats a triple bomb cute but that doesn’t get it done. Marcus left to eat a ton of splashes but kicks free! Marcus escapes a pin and eats a shot from Sterling. Was that brass knuckles??? Marcus kicks out! He tries to pass them to Reno but gets caught Sterling gets ejected! B&B boot the Verdixt off the ramp! Oliver with a facebuster to Reno. Splash and 450 to Reno! Verdict makes the save! Reno and Marcus going back and forth…Reno accidentally decks ref Gina! Marcus hits a superkick for the visual fall but we got no ref. And here comes Mark Sterling back down. He feeds a chair to Reno….Reno misses and eats the rebounding chair! Mathers has the chair…he struggles with it…he decides to go for it but Reno uppercuts him low! Sterling rolls in ref Gina to make the count…Mathers kicks out! Price and Oliver back into to wipe out the verdict and Sterling! Mathers tries the 450 but Reno dodges it! Mathers hits the ropes but Vinny blasts him in the back with a chair! They roll in Ref Gina again as Reno hits his vertical cutter for the three. The crowd dies instantly as the air leaves the room. Reno and Verdict DID it. They won the Von Erich Classic. What a war but Cranston isnt appreciating “effort” right now. They are sad and mad and disappointed. Mathers is beside him at ringside as Orice and Oliver console him. He throws a chair and they get him out of there.
