LIVE, ONGOING WWE NXT COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2026-08-18 20:01:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing WWE NXT report.

NXT is airing from The Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

I am filling in for Richard Trionfo this week as he is under the weather.  Feel better soon Rich!

On the call are Vic Joseph and Booker T.

We look at everything that has led us to tonight's episode.

Zilla Fatu will sign his NXT contract tonight.

Cruz Montana made his way through the crowd to the ring.  He called out Zilla Fatu.  He said that when he came to NXT, he didn't com to fill a spot but to take one, and that meant he was coming for the NXT title.  Now, Zilla gets to add himself to Cruz's list.  Had he not interfered, Cruz would be the top contender to the NXT title.  He's not allowing Zilla to come and take what is his.  He's a loud and proud boriqua from The Bronx.  He was told Zilla isn't here yet.

Rey Fenix's music played and he came to the ring.  The AAA Cruiserweight Champion said he was just here to find out who he was going to defend against, but if someone cost him a title shot, he'd be ready for them too.  Cruz said they battled in AAA, TNA and the indies, but he has respect for him and will give him the ring.  He said the NXT parking lot is the most dangerous place in NXT and he'll be out there waiting for Zilla Fatu.

Romeo Moreno vs. La Parka vs. EK Prosper vs. Tristan Angels - Winner to challenge Rey Fenix for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship

Moreno and Prosper started the match at a stalemate. Prosper caught Mr. England with a dive, while Moreno caught Prosper with a PK. Moreno then dropkicked Prosper, causing him to DDT Parka. Angels dumped both Prosper and Moreno to ringside. Parka answered with knee strikes and a dropkick on Angels before giving Moreno a flapjack.  Prosper hit Parka with a thrust kick before planting Moreno with an Atomic Drop. Prosper then kicked off Moreno’s chest and hit Parka with a moonsault. Moreno dumped all three opponents to ringside and followed up by hitting Angels and Prosper with a dive to ringside. Parka then took out all three opponents with a top-rope Triangle Moonsault.

Angels and Moreno made it back into the ring, where Angels chopped Moreno in the corner. Angels followed with a suplex as the pace of the match slowed considerably. A clothesline put Moreno on his back before Prosper flew into the ring. Angels caught him, but Prosper escaped. Angels then hit Prosper with a backstabber before La Parka chopped him into the corner. Angels hit La Parka with a backstabber as well, earning a two-count.

Angels put La Parka’s face into the turnbuckle before countering a Moreno attack with an enzuigiri. Prosper came in and stunned Angels with a back kick, but La Parka followed with a crossbody. Moreno then hit a missile dropkick on La Parka and Prosper, leaving all four competitors down on the mat.

Prosper used Angels as a springboard to hit a DDT on Moreno. Angels answered with an uppercut and a second-rope suplex. Moreno interrupted the exchange with a rolling suplex on Angels. Moreno went up top, but La Parka met him there and hit a giant Spanish Fly. Prosper broke up the ensuing count with a frog splash.

Prosper, Moreno, and Angels traded superkicks, with Moreno collapsing on top of a prone Prosper. La Parka broke up the pin attempt. Angels set up Moreno, but Prosper flew in and took out Angels before hitting Moreno with a moonsault from the top rope to win the match.

Your winner, EK Prosper!

He will face Rey Fenix next Tuesday.  They shook hands in the ring.

Fun little sprint.

Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair were psyching each other up for their match later tonight.  Vanity Project showed up, with Brad Baylor trying to flirt with Grey. Wren took the opportunity to brag about NQCC defeating Vanity Project for the titles.  Jackson Drake declared that he would beat Shiloh Hill. Grey countered by saying Hill was good with tools, prompting Wren to fire back that Vanity Project looked like tools.  Wren and Grey walked away.  Myka Lockwood told Jackson Drake to lock in and prove them wrong.

Nattie Neidhart vs. Thea Hail

Nattie went right after Hail and driled her with a series of strikes on the mat.  Hail came back with a Lou Thesz Press and fired away with shots.  Hail nailed a dive to the outside, taking out Nattie and her cohorts.    Hail pulled Nattie back into the ring and went on the attack with a series of stomps. She began working over Nattie’s arm, but Nattie dodged an attack and put Hail in a surfboard. Hail tried to counter, but Nattie’s legs shoved her into the ropes. Nattie followed with a snapmare before pulling Hail back up by the hair.  Hail countered a suplex attempt into an inside cradle, but Nattie kicked out and dropped her with a discus lariat. Nattie then applied an abdominal stretch, but Hail planted her foot and shoved Nattie off. Hail looked for the Kimura Lock, but Nattie countered and sent her into the corner.

Hail came back out and the two traded rollups. Nattie went for the Sharpshooter, but Hail escaped and sent her into the corner with an exploder suplex. Hail followed with a blockbuster as Cruz Montana was shown wandering around the parking lot, seeking Zilla.  Hail landed a headbutt and a powerslam before missing a springboard attack. Hail then locked in a Kimura, but Nattie powered up and slammed her way out of the hold. Nattie locked in the Sharpshooter, forcing Hail to tap out.

Your winner, Nattie Neidhart!

Nattie and friends forced Jaida Parker to watch at Nattie placed Hail back into the Sharpshooter.

WWE Speed Champions Lexis King vs. Lucien Price

Price superkicked King as he was handing off his hat and almost scored the pin.  King tried to run out the clock but going to the floor but was caught.  He escaped again and hid behind the other members of Birthright.   He kept returning and exiting the ring.  Price caught him and tossed King back into the ring.    King caught Price with a superkick, but Price answered by catching a running King with a lariat while on one knee. King then hit Price with a DDT for a two-count. Price caught King’s roundhouse attempt and countered with another lariat before planting him with a Uranage with under a minute on the clock.  Stacks and Grace distracted the referee, allowing the others to trip Price. King capitalized on the interference, hitting Price with a twisting neckbreaker to score the victory.

Your winner and still Champ, Lexis King!

Birthright attacked Price after the bout.  Bronco Nima made the save and embraced Price.

Grayson Waller came out and cut a promo, saying that rather than TikTok tough guys stepping up to try and stop him, he had to deal with another Samoan trying to take the food off his table last week.  Waller said he wasn’t afraid of Zilla Fatu’s family, claiming that growing up in Western Sydney meant he had been fighting Uce’s his entire life. Since none of the Uce’s could “wrap it up,” Waller said, another Samoan had shown up to try to take something from him.  Waller said he was actually happy that Zilla had gotten his house-arrest ankle monitor removed and could roam free. However, he warned that Zilla had picked the wrong night, the wrong guy, and the wrong time. Waller declared that no one could handle this version of Grayson Waller and argued that he should be the number one contender.

NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo interrupted Waller and said that whoever becomes the contender, he would keep knocking everyone down. Tony D said they could come from TNA, WWE, or the “island of irrelevancy,” but he would still knock everyone on their ass.  Cruz Montana then appeared at the top of the bleachers. Montana said he had been waiting for Zilla and wondered if he had “spun the block” too hard on Waller, considering Waller had already been laid out before Zilla interfered. Cruz then proposed that he and Waller finish their business from the previous week.

NXT GM Robert Stone came out and reminded everyone that Zilla wasn’t under a WWE contract yet.  Stone announced that he would book Tony D’Angelo vs. Grayson Waller vs. Cruz Montana for the NXT Championship at Heatwave. Stone added that he would handle Zilla Fatu when he arrived.

Lizzy Rain and Shiloh Hill were chatting backstage when Myles Borne interrupted. Borne told Hill that he deserved some sort of reward if he could win his next match. He revealed that he had spoken with Robert Stone, and if Hill could defeat Jackson Drake, he would earn an NXT North American Championship opportunity. Hill was hyped by the news and thanked Borne.
