From Ryogoku Sumo Hall, Tokyo, Japan:
1 - YOSHI-HASHI, El Desperado, Ryusuke Taguchi and Masatora Yasuda vs. Yujiro Takahashi, SHO, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and DOUKI
SHO hits Yasuda in the head with a metal sheet. SHO puts a Mistico mask on Yasuda. DOUKI applies the Darkness Stretch on Yasuda, who submits quickly.
SHO and DOUKI are still in play for the IWGP Jr. Tag Titles held by El Desperado and Mistico.
2 - Togi Makabe and Toru Yano vs. Francesco Akira and Zane Jay
Makabe pins Jay after hitting a King Kong Knee Drop.
3 - Boltin Oleg, Master Wato and Tatsuya Matsumoto vs. Zack Sabre Jr., Hartley Jackson and Kosei Fujita
Fujita forces Matsumoto to tap out to a front facelock choke.
4 - Yuto-Ice, OSKAR and Daiki Nagai vs. HENARE, Callum Newman and Great O-Khan
Nagai tried for a Drilla Killa on Newman, but Newman escapes and hits Kiss the Crown, followed by Make Way. Newman pins Nagai.
After the match, OSKAR and Yuto attack O-Khan and HENARE. OSKAR and Yuto grab the Tag Titles and pose in the ring. But then Togi Makabe and Toru Yano attack the Knockout Brothers. They all fight back to the locker room.
Newman then attacked Nagai and bounced him off guardrails. Newman hit Excalibur in the ring. Newman grabbed his samurai sword and put it to Nagai's neck. Gedo comes to the ring to stop Newman. Gedo tells Newman he needs to fix his attitude. Newman laughs at him. Gedo says this man will fix your attitude. Out comes JEFF COBB! Newman tells him to Kiss the Crown. Cobb hits a shoulder tackle. Newman rolls to the floor. Cobb and Gedo does the Unbound Company fist bump.
Cobb tells the camera that United Empire is done and he is Unbound Company.
Long angle to set up that Callum Newman and United Empire as top heels in the company. The feud between both factions will continue into the Tag Leagues at the latter part of 2026.
5 - Drilla Moloney and Shingo Takagi vs. Wheeler Yuta and Gabe Kidd
Takagi hits a Pumping Bomber on Yuta. Moloney with a Drilla Killa on Yuta. Takagi drops Yuta with Last of the Dragon. Takagi pins Yuta.
The status of the IWGP Global Title is up in the air. Kidd is still the champion, but he is heading back to to AEW. At some point, it will be Moloney vs. Kidd for the Global Title in next few months.
Kidd talks trash to Hiroshi Tanahashi and goes back to the locker room. Moloney talks to Tanahashi and they shake hands. Looks like a deal is in the works.
6 - Konosuke Takeshita, Taichi and Satoshi Kojima vs. Ren Narita, SANADA and Shun Skywalker
All of House of Torture comes to ringside to support their new member.
Kanemaru spits whiskey in the face of Kojima, Takahashi hits Kojima with his pimp stick. Skywalker hits a moonsault knee drop on Kojima and gets the pin.
7 - Hirooki Goto and YOH vs. Yota Tsuji and Taiji Ishimori
Ishimori pins YOH after hitting a Bloody Cross.
Taiji Ishimori just pinned the IWGP Jr. Champion. He will be next in line for a title shot.
8 - G1 Climax 36 Finals Match: Ryohei Oiwa vs. Yuya Uemura
Good match. Oiwa had Uemura in his headlock submission. Uemura hit a back suplex, but Oiwa held on. Uemura powers out of the submission. Uemura hits a high kick and a Deadbolt suplex. Uemura hit a Shining Elbow. Uemura misses a Flying Body Press. Oiwa goes back to the headlock submission. Uemura gets to his feet and pushes him to the ropes. Oiwa goes for The Grip but Uemura reverses into a cross arm breaker. Oiwa rolls him into a cradle. Two count. Uemura holds the arm submission. Oiwa tries to punch his way out. Oiwa goes for the headlock submission, but Uemura goes back to the arm submission. Oiwa hits a German suplex, but Uemura holds onto the arm. Oiwa hits an Angle Slam. Both men are exhausted. Oiwa hits The Grip twice. Uemura kicks out. Oiwa goes back to the headlock submission. Uemura tries to get to his feet but Oiwa forces him to the mat. Oiwa cranks the headlock in deep. Uemura taps out.
Ryohei Oiwa wins the G1 Climax 36.
Both men congratulate each other on the good match they had.
New Japan officials and Hiroshi Tanahashi present Oiwa with the G1 Trophy and Flag.
Oiwa thanks the fans and Uemura for a good match. He thanks Hiroyoshi Tenzan who is at commentary. Oiwa said he wants his IWGP World Title Match in October. TMDK comes into the ring to celebrate with Oiwa and take photos.
If you are able to watch, please check out the semifinal matches and the final match of the G1 Climax. Really good stuff. The development of Oiwa and Uemura has taken some time. Shota Umino and Yota Tsuji were pushed to the top quickly, while Oiwa and Uemura took a bit longer. All four need more time to prove that they are household names. Perhaps they are draws already in Japan, but on a global scale more work needs to be done, if that is where New Japan wants them to be.
