Lutte Quebec announced the following:
The Quebec wrestling community has just lost Ludger Proulx, who passed away at 61. He made his mark both as a wrestler and as a promoter.
In addition to working notably with Lutte Internationale, Ludger Proulx co‑founded ICW in 1990, helping build a new generation of Quebec wrestlers.
“An all‑category champion in ICW, respected by his peers and admired by the public, many still consider him today the most complete wrestler ever to step into a ring in Quebec. A legend? Yes. Alive? More than ever,” wrote ICW on its Facebook page.
In a message posted on Facebook shortly before his passing, Ludger Proulx shared a moving text.
“I told you before and I’ll tell you again: you have to fight to live. I did it until the very end. My train may have left, but yours is still on its way. Take good care of it,” he concluded.
Serge Proulx thanked everyone who expressed their support for his brother and the family.
“We want to sincerely thank you for all your kind words, your messages, and your tributes. They touched us deeply. Some of your messages were even read to him, allowing us to bring back beautiful memories and share a few more precious moments with him,” he wrote on Facebook.
No ceremony—funeral or otherwise—will be held, in accordance with Ludger Proulx’s wishes.

Ludger Proulx was a key figure in French-Canadian professional wrestling, widely remembered as both an in-ring staple of Montreal’s territorial era and a foundational pioneer of independent wrestling in Quebec. He got his start at an extraordinarily young age, making his televised wrestling debut at just 16 years old in Montreal. Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, Proulx worked alongside major Quebec mainstays like Frenchy Martin, Gilles Poisson, and Michel Dubois, regularly working card lineups at Montreal's legendary Centre Paul-Sauvé for Lutte Internationale. One of his most notable televised bouts took place on April 30, 1984, at the Brantford Civic Centre for Jack Tunney's Maple Leaf Wrestling, where he served as the opponent for a young Buddy "The Heartthrob" Hart (Bret Hart) during Hart's stint in Ontario.
Following the collapse of the traditional territory system and Lutte Internationale, Proulx co-founded Inter Championship Wrestling (ICW) in Montreal in 1990. ICW served as a vital training ground and launching pad for Quebec talent during an era when local promotions were scarce. Proulx not only ran the operations and booked but he also actively wrestled on ICW cards as a veteran anchor, trainer, and multi-time champion well into the 1990s and 2000s. By keeping local wrestling alive in Montreal through ICW during the 1990s indy boom, he helped bridge the gap between classic Quebec territory wrestling and the modern indie scene.
