AEW Dynamite is live from The Pearl Theater at the Palms in Las Vegas, NV. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Paul Wight.
Will Ospreay comes to the ring, and he has something to tell us. He says he was honored to be in Arena Mexico last week, and the fans there knew how to lift his spirits. He says last year he was nervous, and when he landed in Mexico, he learned that his grandfather had passed away. He says there is a responsibility to AEW, and he will leave every single bit of his body in the ring for the fans. He says that even though he has the biggest match of his life coming up, he knows the Mexican Street Fight is important because he is setting an example, unlike Kenny Omega, who sat at home.
He says that Omega is backstage tonight, and if he’s not doing anything, he should grace them with his presence (throwing in a shot at Michael Nakazawa).
Instead, we get the Chord of Doom, and Don Callis comes to the stage. He says that, just like Ospreay, he wasn’t there when AEW started, but he knew how to exploit it by latching onto Kenny Omega. But when Omega thought he could do it without Don Callis, he reminded Omega that he needed Don Callis. He then says he brought Ospreay to beat Omega. He then says Ospreay owes everything to him, and now Ospreay thinks he can do it on his own.
He says the road to Wembley isn’t paved in gold; it’s paved in blood. Jake Doyle, Mark Davis, Rocky Romero, and Trent Beretta attack him. Omega comes to the ring with a metal pipe and drives them off.
He makes a move toward Ospreay, who flinches. He says when Ospreay talks from the heart, he feels it, but Ospreay talks with his heart on his sleeve. He says he warned Don Callis and Jon Moxley, and MJF is calling himself the REAL world champion. But now Ospreay is sloppy and careless. That’s not the man he wants to fight at Wembley Stadium. He holds out a hand for Ospreay and helps him up. He then says he can’t help Ospreay like this again.
Ospreay thanks him for the help, but he didn’t ask for it, and he’s not going to need it.
Excalibur and Tony go down the card for the night.
MJF vs Speedball Mike Bailey vs Nick Wayne - Winner is the first entrant in the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In.
Goes to the floor to stall, then grabs a headset and says he will let Bailey and Wayne fight it out and pick the bones. He then mocks Tony. In the ring, Bailey and Wayne run the ropes, and Bailey sweeps the leg and covers for two before patting Wayne on the head. They catch each other’s legs in a kick. MJF gets on the apron, and Bailey knocks him to the floor. Wayne gets a rollup for two.
Bailey gets a tejaris and Wayne is sent to the floor. They run the ropes, and Wayne gets a back elbow as Bailey is sent to the floor. Wayne dives onto Bailey and bows to the crowd. He rolls Bailey into the ring, and Bailey kicks Wayne to the floor and hits a Fosbury Flop over the top ropes onto Wayne. MJF gets into the ring, runs the ropes, and doesn't dive; instead flips off the crowd.
Bailey gets a dropkick from the top onto MJF. Bailey goes to the top and gets a kick on Wayne, but MJF sweeps Bailey’s leg and mounts Bailey for punches. MJF tells Wayne to ground and pound Bailey as well. He tells Wayne to hold up Bailey and then punches Bailey in the midsection. MJF holds up Bailey, and Wayne does the same.
MJF tells Wayne to hit sliced bread, and MJF covers Bailey for two. He then tells Wayne it’s a big deal to be in the ring with MJF. Wayne slaps MJF and then superkicks him to the floor. Bailey is up, and they throw hands. They run the ropes, and Bailey gets a running boot. Bailey gets a spin kick and keeps Wayne down with kicks. Bailey misses a running shooting star press as Wayne gets out of the way. Wayne gets a Dragon suplex. Wayne tries for a sunset flip, but Wayne gets a backflip double knee drop, and Wayne rolls to the floor.
MJF tries to get a heat seeker on Bailey, but Bailey tosses him off, dodges a baseball slide from JGF, and then backflips onto both of them in front of the apron as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Bailey goes to the top and leaps, but MJF gets out of the way. Bailey gets a Spanish Fly for two, and MJF bails. Bailey grabs Wayne when he gets in the ring for a Falcon Arrow. Bailey hits a shooting star press from the top for two. Wayne gets a prodigy driver after kicking Bailey for two, broken up by MJF. Wayne punches MJF; he tries for Wayne’s World, and MJF punches him. MJF hits a power bomb on Wayne onto his knee for two, broken up by Bailey.
Bailey gets the spin kick on Wayne and then hits Ultimo Weapon. MJF tosses Bailey and grabs the Salt of the Earth on Wayne, who has to tap out.
Winner and getting spot number one in the Casino Gauntlet Match: MJF
MJF grabs a mic and says he said he would win because he never loses. He will win the Casino Gauntlet match, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop him. The music of Andrade El Idolo starts, and then MJF tells them to cut the music and mocks the crowd for thinking Andrade is here. He says Andrade, Omega, and Ospreay are all scared of him. He then tells the crowd he is the one true champion.
We get a promo from the Divine Dominion, who mock them for drinking and say they will beat them easily.
In the back, Mick Foley is with the Bang Bang Gang, and he says Jay White gets to fight David Finlay with no one else at ringside. He says the Dogs and the Death Riders have had the upper hand so far, but tonight it is one-on-one, and he hopes Mox wins tonight so he can beat him as well.
Jay White vs David Finlay - Continental Cup Tournament Match
White dumps Finlay over the top to the floor and then follows him to lay in chops. He slams Finlay’s head into the announcer’s table and rolls him into the ring. White keeps up the attack in the corner. They run the ropes, and Finlay gets a shoulder tackle and pummels White on the mat. Finlay poses for the crowd, and White meets him with chops. White gets a backbreaker for two.
Finlay rolls to the apron, snaps White’s head on the top rope, and then stomps him down in the corner. White gets a back elbow, a series of strikes, and a tejaris. He then dives onto Finlay on the floor. White bashes Finlay into the apron and then gets a snap suplex for two. Finlay hoists White and drops him across the top rope and follows with a neckbreaker as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Finlay charges into White in the corner, but White is able to suplex Finlay into the turnbuckles. White beats down Finlay in the corner and then gets a snap DDT for two. Finlay gets a series of elbows to escape. They both get two-count rollups, and Finlay gets a backbreaker for two. Finlay puts White on top and joins him there. White gets a headlock and pounds on Finlay’s head.
White gets a flatliner and then a German suplex for one only. White holds his neck after the suplex. White gets up to his feet, and Finlay gets a back elbow to escape White. Finlay gets a DDT for two. Finlay tries a power bomb, but White grabs a rear headlock to stop him. White gets a double underhook front driver for two. Finlay gets a brain buster on his knee for two. Finlay pulls White up for a lariat. He hits two more lariats on White. White gets a Blade Runner for the pin and the win.
Winner and moving on in the tournament: Jay White
Tony Schiavone is in the ring to talk to the New Trios Champions: Hangman Adam Page, Bandido, and Brody King. Before they can say much, Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana come to the ring. Nana mocks Tony and tells him to leave. Swerve then talks about how he beat Bandido, then Brody, and then says everything always comes back to Page.
He says that early in the year, they were on the same page. Then Page lost a chance at the world championship, and now he can never go for it again, so what is Page’s legacy? Page says he has been watching Swerve, and Swerve has done horrible things this year and has nothing to show for it.
We then get The Demand with the Lethal Twist, and Ricochet says that this is trios business, so Swerve shouldn’t be out here. He then says if Nana wants to wrestle again, they would put him down for good. He then talks about how Swerve treated him and GOA, and how they won the Trios title. Ricochet says their shoulders were on the mat, so they demand a rematch. He says Swerve isn’t safe since there are 9 people here who hate his guts.
Swerve walks up to Ricochet, who tells him to get to steppin’. Swerve walks by him with hands up and goes to the back. Swerve then says Brody may be the one doing the barking, but Ricochet is the bitch.
Page tells Ricochet that if he wants the titles, he should come down and take them. Ricochet says they will do it on their time.
We then get a video of Renee Paquette with Willow Nightingale, but Mercedes Moné interrupted the interview with an attack.
Kevin Knight (TNT Champion) w/Don Callis vs Chris Jericho
Knight attacks Jericho before the bell and beats him down in the corner. Jericho starts fighting back with chops and then a delayed vertical suplex. Jericho chops Knight into the corner. They run the ropes, and Jericho gets a double underhook backbreaker for two. Jericho puts Knight on top and joins him there for ten in the corner, followed by a hurricanrana. Jericho clotheslines Knight to the floor and then goes to the top for a crossbody onto Knight.
Jericho slams Knight’s head into the announce desk. Knight leaps over Jericho and then gets a leaping forearm as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Knight clotheslines Jericho. Knight tries for a lionsault, but Jericho gets his knees up. Jericho gets a pair of shoulder tackles, and then Knight gets a back drop over the top onto the ramp. Knight comes off the top onto Jericho on the ramp. Knight lays in kicks and blows on Jericho’s back, and Jericho hoists Knight for a Death Valley driver. Callis goads Jericho, who starts to chase him, but when Knight goes to attack, Jericho nails him. Jericho goes to the top and leaps, but Knight catches him. Jericho sweeps the legs and tries for the Wall of Jericho, but Knight rolls him up, and they go back and forth with two counts.
Knight gets a backslide with feet on the ropes, but the Ref sees it. Jericho rolls Knight up with his own feet on the ropes for two. Knight gets a pendulum DDT and both men are down. Knight puts Jericho on top and joins him there. Knight pummels Jericho, but Jericho is able to grab Knight for a power bomb from the top for two. Jericho is able to get the Walls of Jericho. Callus gets into the ring, and Jericho chases him out. Callus then nails Jericho with a screwdriver.
Knight goes to the top and gets a coast-to-coast dropkick for the two. Knight goes to the top and leaps into a Codebreaker, and Jericho covers for two. Knight hits a low blow when the referee isn’t looking and then hits Crash Landing for the pin and the win.
Winner and still TNT Champion: Kevin Knight
We go to the dressing room of the Death R9iders. Claudio Castagnoli says he doesn’t care who he faces in the Continental Cup; he will treat them all the same. Mox says his run could end tonight. He asks if Jack Perry is ready, like he is.
Kris Statlander vs the Already In The Ring Viva Van
Well, at least we get a women’s match, even if it is an “enhancement” match where Statlander wins quickly with the Wednesday Night Fever piledriver for the pin and the win.
Winner: Kris Statlander
Mick Foley comes to the ring to talk to Statlander. Mick says that she will be part of a four-way match where Maya World will put her title on the line. The other women will be Persephone and Hiakru Shida. Statlander says she is proud that Maya holds the TBS title, and she will make Persephone and Shida bend over backwards and shove their heads up their asses. She will make them pay for every belt shot and kendo stick attack.
Persephone comes to the stage, as does Shida. They come to the ring, but back off when their opponents head to the ring.
Persephone and Hikaru Shida vs Thunder Rosa and Maya World
Good, we are getting a competitive women’s match.
Maya and Persephone start the match. They lock up, trade headlocks, and then run the ropes. Persephone bails out of the ring to stall. Shida tags in, as does Rosa, and they get a quick series of takedowns and arm drags until Shida is on the second rope. Rosa hits her knees on Shida’s back, followed by a running clothesline for two. Shida gets an inside cradle for two. Shida holds Rosa for Persephone, but Rosa kicks her way free. She then lays in chops on Persephone. Rosa gets kicks on Persephone and then slides into Shida on the floor.
When Rose gets in the ring, Persephone gets a dropkick and then a pendulum into the bottom rope as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Rosa has been the babyface in peril through the break. Rosa finally gets a double lariat on Shida and Persephone and tags in Maya, who runs wild. She ends it by holding Shida in a bridge as she gives Persephone a fallaway slam for two. Maya dives onto Persephone. Rosa is tagged in, and Shida kicks Maya to the floor. Rosa gets a flying crossbody onto Shida. Rosa and Shida throw hands, and Shida gets a flacon arrow for two, broken up by Maya.
Persephone and Maya fight in the ring, and then Maya goes to the corner for Rosa to tag her in. Maya beats down Persephone and gets a stunner of Shida. Persephone holds Maya, and Shida goes for a kick, but Maya dodges it so that Shida kicks Persephone. Maya gets a fallaway slam with a bridge on Shida for the pin and the win.
Winners: Thunder Rosa and Maya World.
Darby Allin is in the back, and he says he has no regrets about his world championship, but he was attacked by Kevin Knight. He was burning the candle at both ends, but now Knight is doing that. He says at Wembley it’s falls count anywhere.
Renee is in the back with Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis, and he says he has defended his title three times in three different countries, so he will defend it at Wembley. Don Callis says that there are former champions who have not gotten a rematch. Kyle says he doesn’t want to face Konosuke Takshida. Callis says he was able to get Okada into the match as well. Kyle is not happy about this, and Okada says all that matters is that the title stays in the family. Kyle storms off.
Jon Moxley vs Jungle Jack Perry - Continental Cup Tournament Match
They take their time before locking up and quickly move to waistlocks and arm bars. Mox takes Perry down, and they break quickly. Mox picks the leg and grabs a waistlock. Perry backs them into the ropes for a clean break. They lock up, and Mox forces them to the ropes, and Mox breaks for a chop, but Perry dodges and gets a chop of his own. Perry gets a tejaris and then a baseball slide into Mox on the floor. Perry dives onto Mox, and Mox gets an elbow strike to knock Perry out of the air.
Mox throws Perry into the ring post. Mox returns to the ring and asks for the count. Perry is busted open, and Mox returns to the floor. Perry gets kicks and strikes on Mox, and Mox slams Perry into the announcer’s table. Perry goes for sliced bread, but Mox slams him onto the timekeeper’s table as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Mox gets a scoop slam for two. Mox gets a series of cross-face blows from behind. Mox then rakes at Perry’s wound. Perry gets a strike and Mox gets a rising knee strike. Mox pulls Perry’s hair from behind, then grabs a rear naked choke, and Perry gets to the ropes for the break. Perry tries a comebacker lariat and bounces off Mox’s chest. Mox gets a boot to Perry’s face.
Mox yells at Perry and whips him to the corner. Perry dodges a charge, and Mox goes to the floor. Perry gets three dives onto Mox on the floor. Perry goes to the top for a moonsault onto Mox on the floor. Mox is rolled into the ring, and Perry goes to the top for an elbow drop, and Mox grabs a sleeper. Perry reverses it for two. Mox gets a lariat followed by a Gotch-style piledriver for two. Mox gets an uppercut for two.
Mox grounds and pounds Perry, and the ref pulls him off and checks if Perry is able to continue. Perry gets to his feet. Perry slams Mox and flips Mox off. Perry slaps Mox and flips both birds. Mox slaps Perry, and Perry screams at him. Mox keeps throwing hands, and Perry screams at him. Perry gets a lariat and then a thrust kick. Perry slowly lifts Mox, and Mox reverses it. Perry rolls through for two. Perry gets a snare trap. Mox fights his way free, and Perry grabs it again. Mox breaks free again, and Perry lays in blows.
Mox rolls through into the bulldog choke. Perry gets up and goes back down, and Mox takes them to the mat, and Perry passes out.
