Who's right about Roman Reigns, Booker T or Conrad Thompson?
For those who missed it, Thompson, in essence, said that Booker T was the most overrated main-eventer in WWE history. Booker T said that Roman is the best in the world right now. This comes down to someone who loves a different style vs. someone who loves the entire presentation of pro wrestling as it is today (and frankly always has been). I think like Booker T so I agree with him. The business is about a lot more than how many moves you can do and how quickly you can do them. Which leads to….
I think Booker is right. What you say if you were debating this topic with Conrad?
Facts tell the story. WWE got on Netflix because of how Roman and The Bloodline carried the business. WWE got on ESPN for the same reason. He is an all time top draw and he carried the business to these heights. With that said, I would never debate it with someone who went to the Dave Meltzer/AEW school of pro wrestling. They don’t watch the business for the same reason that I do, and that’s OK. But as I have said before, Roman has earned the right to be on Mount Rushmore for the money he has drawn. That can’t be denied.
Thoughts on why Rikishi has not been included AT ALL in the Bloodline saga? It's been 5 years, and 3 of his sons are a huge part of it. I don't even think Rikishi's name has come up on TV.
I have heard his name mentioned on TV for sure. From what I have heard, there just hasn’t been a place where inserting him makes sense, especially since he would get a huge babyface pop if he appeared.
I know you aren't the biggest fantasy booker, but just for fun. If you could revisit the WCW Purchase (then turning into the Invasion storyline due to lack of star power), what would you have done differently? Most big players weren't available as they were on guaranteed money, and the fans were rightly dreaming of their dream matches finally being played out. Should they, in hindsight have bought out the Goldberg 3m guarantee to go for mega PPV buy rates and merchandise to cover it? Should more of an attempt been made perhaps quietly to wait and build slowly towards a Sunday night cruiserweight type show to slowly re-launch? What they did, was obviously not popular and killed their asset within months so if you could do it differently, what would you have done? (If anyone cares, my opinion is I would have slowly built WCW up with no interactions with WWF talent, until the brand had momentum/some stars such as Bischoff, Flair, Goldberg and the NWO were ready to join and then invade Raw, resulting in a big tease and big pay off)
They could have spent more money, sure, but that wasn’t needed. They had top names, they just pushed them as if they were mid-carders, or worse. In my opinion, Vince wanted to show that the WCW guys were inferior to the WWE guys and he chose doing that over making a lot of money with a real Invasion angle. I think that he left a lot of money on the table. A lot.
Ok, seriously. We have the AAA Megachampion lose to Danhausen, and then Dragon Lee when they are trying to promote how great AAA is? As Shane Helms used to say, “what’s up with that?”
Man, I wish I could tell you but I don’t know myself. They are trying to sell our MGM Grand Arena and they are presenting AAA’s champion like a jabroni. I don’t get it.
