House of Glory was back in their home venue of the NYC Arena in (where else?) New York City for their annual High Intensity event. Every title will be defended with stars from TNA, AEW among the HoG mainstays and stars.
JD from NY, Johnny Torres and HoG Commissioner Jason Solomon on commentary with Hillary P. Wisdom joining later.
Amazing Red ended a tough losing streak, upsetting Zilla Fatu to win the Crown Jewel title in a great opener. Fatu was bigger and stronger and younger and that's how the match went with Red giving his all but Fatu having too much.
Scary moment as Red couldn't get Fatu over (or Fatu couldn't get over) for a Code Red with both coming down awkwardly. You could see the veteran Red tell Fatu to go for the cover since it was obvious Red took the brunt of the fall. Very smart. Awesome false finish with Fatu hitting the best top rope splash not done by Jimmy Snuka and Red kicking up. Red rallied and strung together some major offense to get the win. Commentary spoke clearly that this was a farewell to Fatu.
AEW star HOOK made his HoG debut, beating veteran Jaden Valo. It was okay. Glad HOOK is taking some outside dates because he still looked too green to have been around this long.
3-time former tag champions The Mane Event - Midas Black and Jay Lyons--sought to settle their brutal and emotional breakup in a singles match. Good match. Long match. Black, now known as "The Black Hart" owing to his time training in Natalya Neidhart's camp, took over, smashing Lyons with chair after chair. Black had popped the ref so I guess the official match was over. Dual Focus (JJP, KB Prime) made the save only to be smashed by LYONS with a steel chair. It looks like it's all been a ruse to set up Dual Focus, the team that really sent The Mane Event into a spiral months ago with an upset victory. I would say similar to The Big Turn of 1980 by Ole Anderson on Dusty Rhodes.
I'm very interested in TME as a heel team after years of being House of Glory's most popular team.
"The Infamous" Darren Richardson's long reign as Cruiserweight champion came to an end at the hands of Ring of Honor Television champion "The Blackheart" (popular nickname) Lio Rush. Richardson has actually beaten Rush once, kicking him low before the official bell and then hitting his Crossed Out finisher for a win in less than a minute. For some reason, Commissioner Solomon restarted the match and made it a no disqualification/no countout match.
Very good match. The umbrella is a little too cute but otherwise, entertaining bout. Rush won by countering another Crossed Out attempt with a choke. Great finish.
House of Glory favorite "Sweet Cheeks" Joey Silver won the intergender Matt Travis Memorial Battle Royal, outlasting roughly other 29 other people. A lot of people in this but once they cleared the ring, it got pretty good. International star Kuro made his debut and looked good in with HoG mainstays Jodi Aura, Raheem Royal, and Luthor before being the final elimination.
This guarantees Silver a shot at the Heavyweight title. Silver had a classic with Charles Mason in May so this gets him a second chance.
Steph de Lander showed up to insult New York City and let it be known she wants another shot at the HoG Women's title
House of Glory Women's champion Shotzi Blackheart (another one?) retained her title against former NXT Women's champion (and probably the GOAT of NXT Women's champs) Shayna Bazler. Strong match. Bazler looked great and had Blackheart on the backfoot most of the match. Blackheart fought back but de Lander attacked her, causing Bazler to be disqualified. Bazler did not appreciate that at all and went after SDL. Steph's husband, "The Southern Psycho" Mance Warner, made the save and then both went to attack Shotzi when Lio Rush appeared and ran them off. Good match with a wildly overbooked, convoluted conclusion.
There was a match scheduled between TNA stars "Blessed" KC Navarro and "The Young Savage" Ricky Sosa but Professor Hillary P. Wisdom brought out his guys, "Dark Star" Idris Jackson and the "Nouveau Narcissist" Angel Jacquez, and they booked themselves into a tag match. But hold on, to a massive pop, HoG Tag champions Matt and Jeff Hardy came out and, since they were there and in their work clothes, decided to defend the titles in a 3 Way match against both teams. Looked like Jeff took a hard shot and needed to catch his breath at one point after a Sosa moonsault. The younger guys did a lot of the hard bumping with the Hardys being strategic, as they need to be at this point of their careers. The champs were able to isolate Jackson to hit their classic finishers for the win. Sosa and Navarro stayed to celebrate with the champs.
AEW star and NYC wrestling legend Eddie Kingston challenged "The Root of All Evil" Charles Mason for the House of Glory Heavyweight title in the main event, a match that was scheduled a couple years ago but had to be rescheduled due to Kingston being injured in Japan. Most physical match on the show with hard strikes and slams throughout. Just tough guy wrestling. Then it got too tough for the champ, who hit a low blow and got himself disqualified. This felt flat. Even with Kingston beating him down with a chair, it was ending the show on a weak note.
But Joey Silver was on his way to save the show, cashing in his title shot right then, hitting a driver for the clean win!

A few points of things being overbooked or repetitive but for the most part, this was a very good show with a lot of strong wrestling and one particular big angle. No big all time great matches but a lot of really good ones.
