Eagle Bank Arena holds 10,000, but seems set for 7,000 or so with sections behind the entrance blocked off. The arena is old and the sound is poor, so the high-energy host hyping the show is tough to understand even though I’m in the middle of the arena. She did not run down the card, which seems like an easy way to hype the crowd. They showed arena arrival entrances for Miz, Gable, and Chelsea. She got an incredible pop.
Match 1: Charlotte vs. Jacy Jayne w/ Fatal Influence ends in DQ after the other members of Fatal Influence beat down Charlotte, which led to Tiffy coming to help and also getting beat down, and then Chelsea, getting a massive pop. It turned into a 6-woman tag w/ Chelsea winning with the Unprettyher.
Quick Danhausen backstage promo and then Match 2: Carmelo Hayes vs. Trick Williams vs. Baron Corbin. Crowd was dead for Corbin, but loved Trick and, to a lesser extent, Melo. Corbin steals the win via pin after Trick had Melo out and was about to cover him when Corbin swooped in and tossed Trick out of the ring.
Promo w/ Maxxine and Austin. Miz comes out to run down the town and say he isn’t cursed.
Match 3: Danhausen vs. Miz quickly turns into Miz vs. Oba after the lights go out and he comes to the ring. Miz tries to refuse the match, but Danhausen rings the bell. Oba wins w/ Fall From Grace and celebrates w/ Danhausen.
Match 4: Breakker and Theory vs. Usos. The Usos are still quite over! Usos win by DQ after a long match where Maxxine kept interfering and drawing heat. It looked like the Usos were on their way to a win, so she crotched one of them in front of the ref to draw the DQ. Superkicks and a 1D after the DQ.
After intermission, Match 5: Fraxiom vs. War Raiders for the AAA Tag Titles. Crowd was slow to get into this one, but eventually the bigger spots got them into it. War Raiders pick up the pin after hitting their finisher.
Match 6: Ethan Page vs. Chad Gable. Crowd was all over Page, but gave less of a reaction to Gable than I expected. I don’t think that new theme helps at all. Gable got a much bigger reaction during the match and used lots of chain wrestling in a back-and-forth match. He won with the Ankle Lock!
Match 7: Main Event—Ricky Saints and Gunther vs. Cody and Punk
Back-and-forth match with Saints getting more of a reaction than I figured he would. Back-and-forth sequence near the end with finishers getting hit. Punk hits the GTS and gets Saints to tap via the Spinning Toe Hold as a tribute to Dory Funk Jr.! Post-match speech: he tells Cody he can have a rematch whenever he wants it.
