In my most recent Q&A column (which was written last night), I was asked a question about Brock Lesnar closing last night's Summerslam Night One vs. Oba Femi in Hell In A Cell.
The question was based around Lesnar usually going on early, so he could travel home. I pointed out Minneapolis is pretty much his home market and that based on those we had heard from, "the belief" among them was that Lesnar had pushed the idea of closing. Somehow this turned into a thing on social media, in part because what I had written was being twisted elsewhere (to the shock of no one) by those lacking reading comprehension.
In speaking to WWE sources with direct knowledge of the company's creative this afternoon, we are told that the original plan for the show was for Hell in A Cell to open Summerslam Night One but over the course of SS week, the decision was made (I would assume by Paul Levesque) that Lesnar's match should close the show given it was HIAC with Lesnar in Minneapolis.
They also stated that to the best of their knowledge, Lesnar was not involved in any changes made to the formatting or match order of the show.
Rather than just add to the Q&A column, I wanted to make a new post.
