Since I was traveling last week, we did not have coverage of Week One, so this week we will catch up on what I missed and also cover tonight's broadcast. Thanks as always for your support of the site.
7/25 WEEK ONE
We open with Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana playing to the cameras.
Corey Graves and JBL are the announcers.
AAA GM Rey Mysterio came to the ring. Adrian Mendoza translated the promo from Espanol. He welcomed everyone to the event. This will be the first of three straight weeks of shows. He's here to talk to the fans about it. He's been coming to Aguascalientes since very early in his career and every time, you show the passion for lucha libre. The crowd chanted for Mysterio. He said he's working hard to bring lucha to the global stage and after everything that has happened lately, he wanted to come out before the fans and make them happy by giving them some good news.
Dorian Roldan and Omos came to the ring. Roldan said that he wanted Omos to be the AAA Latin American Champion and said he deserves it. Three weeks from now, instead there's a triple threat match just to have a chance to win the match. Tonight is a historic night as he's going to give Rey the chance to do the right thing and make the right decision. He asked Rey to give the title back or else it would end badly for Rey.
Rey said he told Dorian two weeks ago that his entire career, he fought people that thought they could intimidate him. Dorian isn't the first or last to threaten him. He said this isn't a threat. Give them the title or he will unleash Omos to hurt Rey personally, professionally and physically. Rey still said no. Roldan told Rey he made his choice and now he has to face the consequences. They...then...walked out? Well, OK, I guess Rey has to wait for his beating like Jerry Mitchell in Three O'Clock High.
Backstage, El Grand Americano wanted Dominik Mysterio is with him or Los Perros del Mal tonight. Dom said he is with him tonight and then they will face off at TripleMania in the biggest match in AAA history.
They pushed a live taping on 8/15 in Torreo, Mexico.
They aired a history package on the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship scene.
AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions Lola Vice & Mr. Iguana vs. La Hiedra & Laredo Kid
Laredo and Iguana started out and battled back and forth. They faced off with Laredo backing off before slapping Iguana. Iguana smiled and took down Laredo with a cross armbreaker. Laredo escaped but was nailed with a Deep armdrag and a dropkick. La Hiedra tagged in and faced off with Iguana. Vice entered the ring and nailed several strikes before taking her down with a cross armbreaker. Hiedra drilled her with a right hand. Vice responded. Hiedra slammed her several times. Vice came back with a series of kicks. Laredo confronted her and was drilled with a series of kicks as well.
Iguana whipped Vice into the corner, where she nailed a hip attack on the challengers. Vice hit a seated senton to the floor on Laredo but was attacked by Hiedra. She faced off with Iguana and tossed Vice back into the ring. Hiedra attacked Vice's leg in corner and dropkicked her low for a two count. Vice was choked in the corner and then caught with a side chinlock.
Vice fought to her feet but was drilled with a big right hand. Hiedra worked her over in the corner but was caught with a superplex and a Saito suplex. Vice crawled to make the tag to Iguana who battled with Laredo. Iguana nailed a springboard diving headbutt and a crucifix driver for a close two count.
Laredo cut him off and nailed a charging forearm smash in the corner. He nailed a Michinoku Driver and a 450 splash off the top. Laredo covered him but somehow it wasn't a three count. Iguana fought back but was worked over with strikes. He went for a pumphandle move but was maneuvered into a DDT for a two count.
Vice and Hiedra wanted tags and received them. Vice exploded with kicks in the center. Hiedra nailed her with a headbutt but was taken into a forward roll. Hiedra hit a Flatliner DDT for a two count. Vice snatched her in a choke and then nailed a big KO kick but Laredo pulled her off during the cover. Iguana tossed him to the floor and nailed a dive to the floor. Laredo sent him into the stairs. Lola rolled up Hiedra but was sent towards the ropes with Hiedra kicked out. She drilled Laredo off the apron but was snatched and hit with an Implant Buster.

This was very, very fun.
Rey Mysterio took part in a press conference. He said he called for this because he was prevented from speaking by what happened earlier. He is working to make AAA luchadors global stars and to bring lucha to the world. He said that's his goal as GM. He received a message from Penta, who said that after what happened last week, Penta will be here next week. He noted Laredo Kid wrestled in Madison Square Garden last week and announced the AAA action figure deal with Mattel. Rey said this was just the start
Angel Garza & Daga vs. AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio & El Grande Americano
Mysterio and Daga began slugging it out immediately. Daga took him down and rained down with punches and bodyslammed him with authority. Daga chopped away at him in the corner. Mysterio came back with a dropkick. He and Grande teamed to work over Daga. He worked over Daga in the corner, but had his face raked. Daga drilled him across the back. He went to hiptoss Grande, who reversed it, hit the hiptoss and charged with a running boot to the face. Grande went to the ropes for a move but Angel shook the ropes. He crotched himself in the corner and was overwhelmed by Daga and Angel.
Angel scored with a series of punches and knees him in the side of the head. Angel worked over Grande with punches in the corner. Grande battled back from underneath. Grande freed himself but was tripped up by Daga. He finally escaped and tagged out to Dom. Dom worked over Angel who begged off, then nailed him. Los Perros worked over Dom, including Daga nailing a dropkick to the back of the head.
They kept working over Dom, stomping away Dom in the corner. Angel ripped at his face. Grande tried to help but was forced back to his corner by the referee. Angel covered Dom for a two count. The crowd was all over the referee. Garza placed Mysterio on the top and drilled him with several rights. Mysterio caught him with a tornado DDT out of the corner.
Dom crawled for the hot tag and made it. Grande battled off Los Perros. Grande backdropped Daga and worked over Garza with a short-arm clothesline. He nailed a double Blockbuster on Los Perros and covered Daga for a two count. Dom tagged in and went for the Three Amigos and tagged in Grande for the third and final suplex. He covered Daga for a two count.
Mysterio went for the pin after a frog splash on Daga but Angel tackled Grande, who crashed down onto them, breaking the cover. Dom set up for the 619 on Garza but Daga nailed him with a clothesline, preventing the kick. Angel and Grande tagged in and they battled. Angel raked the eyes and stomped away . He charged but was nailed with an elbow. Grande hit a dragon screw legwhip on Daga. The referee checked him after he crashed to the floor. Grande sent Angel into the ropes, wiping out the referee in the process. Mysterio nailed the 619 and Grande followed up with a diving headbutt. With no referee to make the count, they couldn't score the victory.
Dom pulled a coin out to load Grande's mask but the other Perros del May attacked Dom and worked him over, throwing him into the stairs outside, then hitting a running powerbomb into the ring post. Garza used a Gori Guerrero Especial and flipped Grande into a knee to the face for a close two count. Rayo and Bravo Americano hit the scene with kendo sticks and worked over Perros de Mal on the floor, brawling.
Bravo climbed a lighting tower and dove down onto Perros de Mal. Americano nailed Angel and scored a two count. Karmen Petrovitz came out. Bronco Nima hit a double chokeslam through a table on Bravo and Rayo. Grande nailed a tope suicida on Bronco.
Grande nailed a running headbutt on Nima and faced off with Angel in the ring. Angel drilled him with several big moves but Grande kicked out at the last second. Los Perros worked him over with a dropkick into a snap German suplex but Grande kicked out at the last second. Daga nailed several big rights but Grande battled back against Garza and Daga. He caught them with a double clothesline. Mysterio recovered and went for a tag. Grande dove for it but Dom pulled his hand back and slowly backed down the stairs and away from the ring.
Los Perros watched and then swarmed over Grande, beating him down. The beat down Grande and pinned him.

Hell of a main event.
Mysterio joined forces with Dorian Roldan and Omos on the ramp.
This was a hell of an episode. One of the best things, for me, is that when I watch AAA, the crowd reacts like its 1980s pro wrestling, totally invested in the characters and the big moves for the main events. It's not that far off from the type of insane passion you'd see in World Class or Mid-South. Second, the intensity on even the little things, like bodyslams and punches makes it stand out from everything on the main WWE roster. There's an aura of ferocity and danger that doesn't exist elsewhere in the WWE cosmos. Corey Graves is a hell of a lead announcer and he shined here. JBL had a few funny lines, especially one about how the Spanish announce table isn't safe, no matter the continent. It's obvious the likes of Garza have found a place where they can perform as opposed to be in WWE Main Event purgatory, doing matches at half-speed that aren't really paid attention to by the masses.

They opened with a recap of last week's episode.
Dominik Mysterio cut a promo while walking backstage. He asked the fans if they expected him to let another "bastard" pretend to be Mexican. He reminded Grande that he runs AAA and is the King of the Luchadors.
Lince Dorado vs. La Parka vs. Mecha Wolf - Winner advances to the AAA Latin American Championship bout at TripleMania.
Parka was double-teamed at the onset of the match. La Parka battles them off. Lince is a sub for Dragon Lee, who is injured.
Parka went for a dive on Lince, but Mecha grabbed him. Parka kicked him off. Lince charged but was backdropped to the floor. Parka went for a dive but they caught him and ran him into the ring post. Lince and Mecha saw their alliance fall apart immediately. Lince hit Parka with a mule kick and a armdrag. He then nailed a tope con hilo on Mecha. He dove into the ring on Parka and scored a two count. Mecha returned but was caught with an enziguiri.
Mecha came back with a back drop on Lince, then hit dives to the outside on Parka and Lince. He nailed a spike DDT on Lince for a close two count. Mecha and Lince battled back and forth with kicks and strikes. Lince nailed a poisonrana. They nailed a double clothesline on each other. Parka returned to the battle and nailed a double stunner. He nailed running clothesines on each and hit a powerslam on Mecha. Parka hit a double flapjack and nailed a moonsault to the floor on each. The crowd chanted, "This is lucha."
Parka tossed Lince back in but was caught with a head scissors takedown for a two count. Dorado hit a back cracker for a two count but Mecha broke up the pinfall. Mecha chopped him hard in the corner. Mecha drilled a charging Dorado with an elbow in the corner. On the buckles, he lifted Dorado into a twisting superplex into the ring. He covered him but Parka broke up the pinfall at the last second. Mecha and Parka battled back and forth with big right hands and forearms. Parka elevated and dropped him in the center of the ring, then hit a sit-out powerbomb for a close two count. Dorado went to the top but Mecha was whipped into him. He nailed a crucifix driver on Parka. Lince nailed a leg lariat on Mecha and they were all down, fighting to recover.
Dorado hit a rana off the apron to the floor on Mecha. He kicked down La Parka and hit a shooting star press for a close two count. Mecha misted Dorado as he was on the top, which allowed Parka to nail him with a Spanish Fly. He covered Dorado but saw Mecha diving with a headbutt. Dorado ate it after Parka moved. Parka cleaned house and nailed Dorado with a tope suicida. He grabbed Mecha and nailed a spinning driver for the pin.

They showed Psycho Circus walking in the back.
Los Perros Del Mal cut a promo backstage. They did everything they promised to do last week. They have become the problem for the miserable AAA locker room. They said this isn't over. God forgives. They don't.
Drago & Dinamico vs. Galeno & Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.
Dinamico and Wagner Jr. started off. Drago tagged in but Wagner Jr. battled them off. He tagged to Galeno, who charged around the ring and KILLED Dinamico with a running charge. Drago was worked over with a series of clothesines in the corner. Wagner tagged in and was elevated into a shotgun dropkick. Dinamico hit the ring to break up the pinfall. He got kicked out of the ring to the floor.
Galeno held Wagner on his shoulder for him to splash down on Drago. Galeno hit the Galeno Special, a twisting DDT, and scored the pin.

Quite the beating.
Rey Mysterio took part in a media conference. He said Dominik Mysterio aligning himself with Dorian Roldan was concerning. They have a lot of things in common, including blaming their parents whenever something goes wrong for them in life. Rey said he's been in the ring with giants and he's never backed down and never will. He plugged the main event and said he was sorry for cutting it short.
AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix vs. Mini Vikingo
The announcers put over Vikingo's ability level at such a young age of 19. They went back and forth with some nice grappling. Fenix cartwheeled out of a potential move. Lots of lucha style. Fenix went for a kick but Vikingo caught it and put it back down. They exchanged kicks with Fenix getting the better of the exchange.
Fenix missed a charge in the corner. Vikingo nailed a torneo splash off the top and drilled the champ. Vikingo nailed a series of strikes and hit a sunset flip for a two count. They battled back and forth. Fenix was sent to the floor with a head scissors takedown. Vikingo went for a dive but was cut off. Fenix hit a flying bodypress for a two count.
Vikingo nailed a crucifix driver for a two count. They played up that he nearly scored a major upset. Fenix nailed a kick, then ran the ropes to drill him with another one. He nailed a DVDR for a two count. Fenix nailed several kicks to the chest, then the head. Vikingo avoided a charge and nailed a standing Spanish Fly for a two count. JBL sounded legitimately entertained and shocked by this.
Vikingo avoided a charge into the buckles and hit a Poisonrana for another close two count. He went to the top and went for a frog splash, nailing it for a two count. He started to get upset at the referee's count. He stomped away at Fenix in the corner, getting angrier and angrier. He went for a move but was snapped with a Rolling Thunder Cutter, but Vikingo kicked up at the last second so now Fenix was getting upset.
Fenix nailed a kick in the corner but Vikingo came back with a whip reversal and a superkick. They battled on the top. Vikingo nailed a Spanish Fly for a two count. Vikingo went back to the top but missed a Phoenix Splash. Fenix charged with a knee strike and placed Vikingo on the top. Fenix went for a muscle buster but Vikingo transitioned out of it with a pinfall attempt. Fenix kicked up and charged with a big knee strike. Vikingo still kicked out.
Fenix spun him around and drove Vikingo to the mat with a muscle buster for the pin.
