On the latest episode of Power and Glory, former WWE wrestler Mario Mancini was joined by his co-host The Master Emir and their guests Scott Wilder (who books pro wrestlers for conventions) and author Kenny Casanova to discuss the fiasco behind the newly released book called "Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine - Forever Valentine."
Less than a week ago, Valentine posted a video on his Instagram account. Valentine said the newly released book on his career by Wilder and Casanova was published without his permission or knowledge. Valentine also said he was not provided a copy before it was released and that any claim that he approved it or endorsed it was simply false. Valentine was also not happy about how they involved his wife in this situation. Valentine closed out his remarks by saying his official book is in the works and that he would provide an update when the time is right.
Mancini said there are texts he has seen that proved nothing was fabricated, as they showed Valentine saying he was on board with the book.
Mancini also put over Valentine as wrestling royalty along with mentioning his longtime friendship.
Mancini hopes that Valentine and his wife, Julie, will watch the video and find a way to communicate with and work things out with Wilder and Casanova.
Wilder said he has worked with Valentine in the past and connected him with Casanova, as he has written numerous books on other pro wrestlers, such as "Tito Santana: Don't Call Me Chico."
Wilder mentioned text messages with Valentine asking if he could send him labels to sign for the book release. Wilder said Valentine agreed, but a month later, Wilder said he received a text from Valentine's wife at 2:30 AM saying they took advantage of Valentine. Wilder said he did not author or publish the book and his involvement was to get Valentine a sweet deal to do the book. Wilder also said Valentine will always have a place in his heart regardless of the heartbreaking and disturbing situation.
Wilder said he hopes Valentine and his wife watch the video and "realizes maybe they made a mistake and we can resolve it."
Casanova's background in pro wrestling was brought up, as he has been trained for the squared circle, but has also written books with Kamala, Danny Davis, Brutus Beefcake, Vader, Sabu, Tito Santana, Ken Patera, Justin Credible, Earl Hebner, and ODB, and is currently working on a biography book on King Kong Bundy along with Bundy's brother, Jeff Pallies.
Casanova said there's no scam attached to the odd scenario on the Valentine book and there's no "me wanting to make his share of the pie."
"If I could fix it right now, I would say, just pick the story you want to go with. Do you want to say that you don't know me and you never had anything to do with this book? Then continue to go down that route, then we can go that route and I can sell less books and you can sell no books. Or say we worked it out and everything is fine now and I'll send him his money. I'd like to fix it."
Wilder added Casanova was blocked by Valentine and his wife, so he cannot contact them to ask them where they want their money to be sent.
Casanova mentioned how the book industry works and how he helped Kamala with his book to help raise money for his health issues ($17,000 was made and all given to Kamala).
Mancini advised Casanova to find a way to send the money to Valentine as a gesture. Casanova said he would, but he does not want Valentine to drag his name through the mud.
All four hope that Valentine and his wife, Julie, will watch the video and find a way to communicate and work things out.
