AEW Dynamite is live from the Masonic Temple in Detroit, MI. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz.
Excalibur runs down tonight’s card, and then we get a video recapping the interaction between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay after Omega’s title match at Redemption. We then see the Death Riders watching the interaction backstage as Omega attacks Ospreay.
Renee Paquette is backstage and tries to get a word with Will Ospreay, but he blows her off. He then sees the Death Riders, and when Daniel Garcia tries to talk to him, Ospreay takes Garcia out with a Hidden Blade. Ospreay tells Mox he’s out. And Mox says it looks like he has it all figured out, and they get out of his way.
Hangman Adam Page then shows up and says he isn’t focused on the world championship, but if Ospreay needs any help, he’s ready. Ospreay said he has to do this on his own. Page says that when they get to Wembley, Ospreay will be the best he has ever been.
Andrade El Idolo (AEW National Champion) vs. Jack Perry vs. Nick Wayne
So Perry and Wayne lost the ladder match but got a title shot for a different title? OK.
Perry nails Andrade and then rolls up Wayne for two. Perry lays in chops on Wayne before they run the ropes and Wayne gets a cutter. Andrade then hits suplexes. The first on Wayne alone, then the second on Wayne and Perry. Wayne gets a small package for a one-count. Perry whips Andrade into the ropes and then dives on Wayne, and Andrade dives on Perry before taking a selfie with a woman at ringside.
Wayne gets sliced bread on Andrade on the floor. Perry rolls Wayne into the ring and covers for two. Wayne goes for the eyes, and Perry fires back chops. Wayne pulls Perry down by the hair. They run the ropes, and Andrade takes down Perry and Wayne with lariats. Andrade gets the Three Amigos on Perry. Wayne gets a Spanish Fly on Andrade, and Perry gets a shotgun dropkick on Wayne as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Wayne and Perry are fighting on top. Andrade kicks Wayne and hits him with a powerbomb; he then meets Perry on top. Perry is able to knock Andrade down to the apron and gets a hurricanrana from the top. Wayne then nails Perry with a destroyer, and all three men are on the floor. Wayne rolls Andrade into the ring and comes off the top to land on Andrade and hits a suplex for two, broken up by Perry.
Wayne gets a series of kicks on Perry, and Perry gets to his feet and lays in strikes. They go back and forth. Andrade joins and takes them both out with a double clothesline. Andrade hits Perry with double knees in the corner for two. Andrade puts Perry on top, and Wayne gets a superkick on Andrade. Wayne gets a tejeris that Perry turns into a hurricanrana on Andrade. Perry then gets a series of dives on Wayne and Andrade.
Perry rolls Wayne into the ring and then hits a Liger Bomb for two. Andrade dumps Perry to the outside, and Andrade tries a frog splash on Wayne, who gets his knees up. Wayne gets a phoenix splash on Andrade for two, broken up by Perry. Perry gets hit by a back elbow from Andrade. Wayne gets a rollup with feet on the ropes for two. Andrade hits the DM on Wayne for the pin and the win.
Winner and still National Champion: Andrade El Idolo
CRAZY action in that match.
Tony is in the ring to talk to Andrade. Andrade says he feels tranquilo. He screwed MJF and Don Callis, and he will be the best National Champion ever. Tony tells us there will be a Casino Gauntlet match and Andrade will be wrestling next week for the number one position. Andrade asks, "How you know?"
In the back, Renee is with the Brawling Birds, who say the Divine Dominion has been avoiding them, and when they meet, it's time to brawl.
Renee is then with the Don Callis Family, and Kyle Fletcher says he was able to retain his title without any help. Don talks about how the family took some losses, but they will win in the future. Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher exchange words before Kazuchika Okada says the titles will stay in the family.
Kyle Fletcher, Jake Doyle, and Brian Cage vs. Bandido, Brody King, and Speedball Mike Bailey
Don Callis joins commentary.
Kyle and Bailey start the match, but Kyle says he’d rather face someone else, and Brody gets into the ring, and they lock up and then run the ropes. Kyle gets ineffectual. Shoulder tackle and Brody gets one that drops Kyle. Kyle tags in Cage, who tags in Doyle, and they work over Brody in their corner. Kyle tags in and Brody tags in Bailey, who tags in Bandido. Bandido comes off the top onto Kyle’s arm, and they run a series of clotheslines on Kyle. Brody clotheslines Doyle and Cage, who get in the ring.
Everyone but Brody and Kyle leave the ring, and Brody drops Kyle with a clothesline. Bandido gets a stalling vertical suplex on Kyle and then gets five in the corner. Cage grabs Bandido and tosses him into the ring post as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Bandido has been the babyface in peril. Bandido is able to escape out the back when Cage picks him up, and Brody gets the hot tag. Brody cleans house and covers Cage for two. Cage gets a leaping knee, but Brody gets a clothesline. Bailey is tagged in, and Cage tosses him into the turnbuckles. Cage gets a German suplex, Doyle gets a backbreaker, and Kyle hits a running knee for two, broken up by Brody and Bandido. Bailey gets a jackknife for two. Bailey and Kyle go back and forth. Kyle hits snake eyes on the top turnbuckle. Bailey gets a spin kick, and both men are down.
Bandido and Doyle tag in and they go back and forth until Bandido gets a gorilla press. Bandido gets a frog splash, but Doyle rolls through. This leads to each person getting a big move on the last person in the ring. It ends with Bandido getting a hurricanrana on Doyle for two. Bandido rolls into an elbow strike from Doyle.
Bailey gets a blind tag and hits Ultimo Weapon on Doyle and follows with a sunset flip for the pin and the win.
Winners: Bandido, Brody King, and Speedball Mike Bailey
Renee sits down with the Young Bucks and Cope and Cage. The Bucks say they are anxious thinking about their match at All In. Cope says they are looking forward to it as well. They praise each other and how they changed tag team wrestling. Cage then says they did come back to do a retirement tour, but to prove they are the best tag team of any generation. Cage then says it’s great the Bucks' wives are coming.
The Bucks say the tag team title belts are their legacy and they are clawing their way back to get them. Cope says they came back from being told they could never wrestle again. The Bucks say they will be coming at them harder than anyone ever.
Cope says they are doubted at their stage, and the Bucks feel the same way.
Maya World (TBS Champion) vs. Persephone
They lock up and move to armbars and headlocks. They run the ropes, and they both dodge clotheslines. Maya gets a rollup for two. Persephone does the same. Maya gets an arm drag and a dropkick. Maya gets another arm drag and then a back elbow. Maya dodges a charge, and Persephone is sent to the floor. Persephone is able to put Maya on her shoulders and drops her onto the apron as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Persephone gets an arm drag into an ankle lock. Maya escapes and gets a rollup for one only. Maya gets another rollup for two. Maya gets a roll-through into a double stomp. Maya gets a running kick for two. Persephone gets a fallaway slam, and Maya rolls to the floor. Persephone dives onto Maya.
They go back and forth on the floor, and Maya gets a DDT and then rolls Persephone into the ring. Persephone gets a short-arm lariat, and both women are down. Persephone gets a German with a bridge for two. Persephone charges at Maya, who gets a double stomp. Shida runs to the ring and shoves a kendo stick to Persephone as the ref is distracted. Kris Statlander takes the kendo stick, and Maya gets a suplex with a bridge for the pin and the win.
Winner and still TBS Champion: Maya World
In the back, Mark Davis says he is embarrassed that he lost his title and he has to do something about it. He will get even by beating Will Ospreay now that Ospreay doesn’t have the Death Riders on his side anymore.
Renee is in the ring to celebrate Willow Nightingale over Willow winning the World Championship. Willow comes to the ring and says the crowd is far too kind. She says she is living her dream and is grateful to the fans. She then says this past year, she’s made the fans very happy. She goes over the ups and downs of the last year. She thanks her mother and tells the fans to never give up.
Mercedes Moné then comes to the ring and says she came out for business so they can sign the contract for All In. Willow obliges her. They go face-to-face and have words. Willow then asks if Moné is sad because she wasn’t the center of attention or because she beat Moné before. Willow then says it might be because she has the one championship Moné can’t get.
Moné says that she hates that for every milestone, Willow ran over her story. She says she is destined to hold the World Title. The crowd politely asks Moné to be quiet. Moné says that Willow would be nothing without her. They get into each other’s faces and yell at each other as Divine Dominion show up. Moné and Divine Dominion attack Willow and lay her out.
The Brawling Birds run to the ring for the save, and they run Moné and Dominion off.
Jon Moxley (AEW Continental Champion) vs. Komander
They lock up and move to armbars. Mox is able to escape and cover for one. They run the ropes, and Mox runs through Komander. They lock up again and move to headlocks. They run the ropes, and Komander charges at Mox and bounces off. They run the ropes, and Komander gets a small package for two.
Komander goes to the top for the flying arm drag. Mox gets a clothesline. Komander gets a tejeris and follows with a dropkick. Komander goes to the top and runs the ropes, but stops when he sees Mox get out of the way and instead dives onto Mox as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Mox has a head and ankle lock. Komander works free and runs into a kick from Mox. Komander gets a small package for two. Mox gets an elbow strike and misses a charge in the corner. Komander gets a dropkick and follows with a series of kicks. Komander gets a tiger feint kick for two. Komander runs up the ropes to avoid Mox, but Mox gets a cutter.
Mox then gets ten in the corner and bites Komander. Komander gets a kick on Mox and hits a guillotine leg drop as Mox is on the top rope. Mox drops to the floor. Komander gets a 450 on Mox when Mox returns to the ring for two. Komander gets a big thrust kick and goes to the top. Komander runs the top rope and hits a flip dive onto Mox. Mox is rolled into the ring and misses a dive. Mox gets a curb stomp and the Death Rider. Mox grabs a bulldog choke, and Komander taps out.
Winner and still Continental Champion: Jon Moxley
Backstage, Mick Foley is with the Bang Bang Gang, and Jay White is not at the show. They say they have big problems. They say they are challenging the Dogs and the Death Riders tomorrow night.
Mick gets the cheap pop and does not bark like a dog.
The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong), AEW Trios Champions, vs. The Demand (Ricochet, Toa Leona, and Bishop Kaun)
The Demand charge the ring, and all six men are brawling. Toa charges into the steel steps. Cassidy does the elbow drop spot on Kaun. Ricochet dives onto the Conglomeration. The bell finally rings, and Cassidy and Toa start the match. Toa shows that hitting his head on the turnbuckle does nothing. Cassidy goes for his pockets, and Toa picks him up, and they go back and forth. Kaun tags in and Cassidy tags in Strong, who cleans house.
Roddy then uses Cassidy as a weapon. Kaun and Toa catch Cassidy and slam him into Roddy as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Roddy has been the babyface in peril through the break. Strong gets a backbreaker on Ricochet and tags in Kyle, who runs wild. Ricochet ends it with a moonsault press for two. Kyle fights off each member of the Demand, and when he is done, everyone is down. Kyle tags in Cassidy. Cassidy is on top, and Ricochet joins him, and they go back and forth.
Cassidy rakes Ricochet’s head and shoves him to the mat. Kaun goes to the top, and Roddy joins him there. Each person gets a big move on the last person in the ring. Roddy and Kyle beat down Kaun, and they hit the High/Low for two, broken up by Ricochet. Kaun runs through Roddy and Kyle. Cassidy tries for the diving DDT and Toa blocks it. As they fight, the Lethal Twist attack. Cassidy is hit by Blake Christian, who is holding one of the title belts. Ricochet hits the Spirit Gun for the pin and the win.
Winners and NEW World Trios Champions: The Demand
The Demand and the Lethal Twist beat down the Conglomeration after the match. Brody King tries a run-in and gets swarmed. Hangman Adam Page comes to the ring with a barbed wire chair and everyone bails but Jay Lethal, who takes a Buckshot Lariat.
In the back, the Death Riders say they got another victory, and they accept the challenges from the Bang Bang Gang. Garcia says that Ospreay doesn’t get to leave that easy; it’s a hard way in, so it’s a hard way out. Mox talks about the Continental Cup and how he will fight his way through.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring for a talk with Kenny Omega. Before he can say anything, Will Ospreay comes to the ring. Omega says it's fine because what he has to say is just for Ospreay. He says this is a game of show and tell. At Redemption, he showed Ospreay how he felt, and since no one seems to have understood it, it’s the tell part. Omega cares about Ospreay. Omega says ten times out of ten he put their friendship before the belt and seeing Ospreay win the Owen Hart tournament. And how did Ospreay react? By saying he was disappointed that he gave up.
Omega shows the belt and asks if it looks like he gave up? Omega says he warned Ospreay about the Death Riders, and what’s his excuse now?
Ospreay says he came back too early because he wanted revenge, and he wasn’t able to get revenge and lost his confidence. Ospreay says his body crapped out on him and he had no friends to turn to. Omega says he was always there for him. Ospreay says the man who saved him was Jon Moxley. He says that he looked at Mox as the man who could take him to where he wanted to be. Ospreay says he liked being a Death Rider. As he got to know them, he knew why they were so protective, but he didn’t share their philosophy, and he became the world champion by being the best.
Omega says that after his match, he was beaten up on. All he could do was close his eyes and accept his fate. He then heard Ospreay there; he knew he was saved. But minutes passed, and he took the chair off of himself. Here was Ospreay with his belt and a ripped plastic bag at his feet because Ospreay thought about it. Omega slaps Ospreay and yells that he thought Ospreay was his friend.
Ospreay says he was his friend. They continue to have words until Omega slaps Ospreay, and Ospreay slaps back. Ospreay says he came to the US every week when Omega was out, and he has given everything to challenge for that title. He says he has worked and he wants the ball. He says he has an entire country waiting on him to kick the ball.
They are wondering if Ospreay can pull the trigger, and he can. He will do it when Omega is at his best, and when he pulls the trigger, Omega will see it coming.
