This Saturday night, August 1st, Mid-Atlantic Territory Wresting (MATW) presents the 1st Annual Chuck Coates Memorial Tag Team Tournament, emanating from the Augusta Expo Center in Fishersville, VA.
Doors open at 2:00PM for a meet & greet with WWE Hall of Famer, Arn Anderson and all of the participating teams. Bell time is 4:00PM.
12 of the top tag teams from up and down the East Coast have entered for the right to battle for this honor. And they come from inside and outside of MATW. The tournament includes talent that has wrestled in WWE, AEW, TNA, ROH, MLW, ACW, ISPW, MCW, NOW and many other promotions across the country.

About Chuck Coates:
During his nearly 4 decade-long career, Charles “Chuck” Coates wrestled in many promotions throughout the US, spending time across the ring from the likes of Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Andre the Giant, Sting, The Hardys, and our own “Pain Train” Preston Quinn.
From the big stages of WWF (WWE) and WCW to small gymnasiums, Chuck was a professional and carried himself in that way. During this time, Chuck dreamed of having an annual tag team tournament showcasing teams from around the country, or even the world. This dream was put on the back burner in 2020 when the world was put on hold. We unfortunately lost Chuck on September 8, 2025 before he could see this dream become a reality.
With that in mind, Mid-Atlantic Territory Wrestling picked up Chuck’s gauntlet and has brought his dream to life! With the blessing of the Coates Family, MATW has brought together tag teams from around the US and Canada to participate in the 1st Annual Chuck Coates Memorial Tag Team Tournament.
