The Wrestling REVOLVER made their Nashville, Tenn debut in the Troubadour, a good-looking concert hall, with Silence of the Slams, live on Youtube.
Carmen Michael, voice of Ohio Valley Wrestling, sat in with WR's regular guy, Bork Torkelson on commentary. Michaels was a great choice and helped keep Torkelson from going full Bork, which can be awful commentary at times.
Damien Chambers (with Kayla Cassidy) was a late addition to an originally scheduled 3 Way match with TNA star BDE, AEW star "The Inevitable" Ace Austin, and Gringo Loco (whose heel turn seems forgotten here). Fast paced opener with Cassidy getting in her offense, which needs to start leading to her getting matches or stop it. Chambers got the win with a pin on Loco.
Joe Alonzo, leader of WR's newest heel faction The Algorithm, threw out an open challenge to any of the young kids in the back looking for an opportunity, clearly still feeling good after his win over former TNA World champion Steve Maclin in June. He got...Jon Moxley. Damn. Surprisingly competitive. Mox dominated stretches but Alonzo was right in there and even had a chance to win after hitting a Curb Stomp. He didn't take advantage and fell to the Death Rider DDT.
In a match sponsored by PRODUCE and imported from the state of Georgia, "The Octopus" Jonathan Gresham teamed with Adam Priest to get a win over the fast rising unit of Top Team ("Superstar" Jay Lucas, Terry Yaki). Good match. Interesting subplot with Gresham and Priest not getting along even before TT come out with commentary telling the real-life story of Priest, along with Darien Bengston, helping Gresham get back into ring shape after suffering 2 strokes last year. I guess business as business as Gresham, who looked like a guy having a great time, was working straight and narrow while Priest was very aggressive.
An Open Invite Scramble match was next. I don't know what made it "Open Invite" but whatever. Juni Underwood got his first win in WR, beating out Cole Radrick, Jeffrey Johns, Jake Painter, Troy Parker, Bigg Pound, Dreadknot (Madman Fulton), Donovan Marcelis. This was pretty good. The monsters (Parker, Dread, Pound in his way) got to be the monsters with the others bouncing for them and combining to take them out and then turning on each other. It was No Disqualification and it's REVOLVER so they broke out some doors and broke them. Underwood got the pin over Painter to win the bout.
WR champion "The Southern Psycho" Mance Warner teamed with his wife, Steph de Lander to face KillerGOAT (Myron Reed, the longest reigning WR champion ever, Killer Kelly). This was de Lander's WR debut.
Warner lost control early, striking Reed with a chair and getting his team disqualified. WR Vice President Phil Stamper doesn't think that's a good way to end a major match in their Nashville debut and restarts it, making it a No DQ Nashville Street Fight. Frankly, some rules and disqualifications wouldn't hurt REVOLVER one bit. A lot of hard work here from all parties, again breaking out and breaking up of doors with some chairs thrown in. Reed breaks up a de Lander pin on Kelly, rolling her up to win the match. KillerGOAT is on a roll, having won two in a row.
Billie Starkz beat the massive Amazanga in the first match out of intermission. A Darby Allin Special here with the much smaller wrestler taking a beating and getting a quick roll up for the win, this time it was Starkz getting a huracanrana into a pin, almost hooking his leg but it was a big leg. Amazanga immediately attacks her after the bout, landing a big splash off the ropes and then carrying her from the ring. I guess more to come with this.
Tie or Dye (Ryan Matthias, KJ Reynolds) successfully retained the WR Tag titles in a 4 Way match over former champions Alpha Sig ("Big" Dick Meyers, KC Jacobs), Brent Oakley and Crash of the Algorhitm, REVOLVER's newest heel faction, and The Production (Derek Dillinger, Katie Arquette). Another fun match that had some good tag action amidst the expected chaos. Amazanga, ToD's muscle, must have lost track of Starkz, running out to help his guys get the win.
In a renewal of a beef that dates back to fighting for the Combat Zone Wrestling Heavyweight title in 2018, Rich Swann battled Joseph Sawyer (the former Joe Gacy) Sawyer's first matches since leaving WWE this spring. Very good match and the right one to close the show. Sawyer closes with some thanks to Sami Callihan, longtime fans and Swann. I always think these should be saved for off the air and for the fans in attendance but no one asked me. A little repetitive at times (the Lowes' budget for doors must be insane) but all around good show with a lot of good wrestling.
