Some questions following RAW and about Summerslam in general.
1. Solo offering his help to Seth; I thought this was an interesting wrinkle in the ongoing Bloodline issues.
On the one hand, it was interesting. Solo wants to get The Bloodline at any cost and he has been great of late. My issue was that they have so many talents that aren’t defined as a heel or a face that tweenerism is running too rampant for me overall. But once Solo came out to help at the end, LA should not have issues with him.
A. I’m guessing this is an early seed being planted for WarGames at Survivor Series. I don’t see any group other than the Bloodline and who they’re feuding with being involved. So that would give us Knight, Keys, Seth & Solo on the opposite side. I know it’s months away, but does this sound plausible to you?
That does sound plausible.
B. Does this foreshadow Seth losing at SS to you? They’ve also been going on about Roman not beating Seth, so that is often a giveaway when they take that narrative route.
I get the feeling that Roman has to win given how much they are saying Seth is his white whale. Seth has been more heelish of late and they have made a point that Roman has not been getting help to win his matches. He is the face….I guess?
2. The Judgement Day; every faction has a shelf life - does it appear they’ve about reached their expiry date? They’re so far removed from the days of Ripley & Priest they are just comedy fodder these days.
They are in a comedy program with Danhausen, which means mid-card to me. JD loses so much. Raquel has missed on all of her title opportunities. They still have the champ in Liv but yes, they don’t have the feel of a top group right now.
3. Summerslam ticket sales - obviously they’re concerning. The company will make tons of money, as always, but what do you feel (or know) what the mood is backstage with the numbers?
I know management isn’t happy. They didn’t think that they would have to do “limited time” discounted tickets to get people into the building. But, the prices for tickets are catching up with them, especially when the product is good but not great. As we talk about all the time, there would come a point where the prices are limiting who can afford to attend. We are there now. It used to be a “sellout” in a big building was 15,000 or more. Now the “sellout” numbers announced are much lower. They have gotten to the point where the pricing had forced people away.
Do you also think that the heat is on HHH since he’s booking, or is it too much to expect that TKO looks at the overall picture and admit that their ticket prices are a big part of the problem? Or do we have the usual corporate approach where the folks at the top think they’re doing a great job and someone like HHH takes the blame?
The one thing I know about most big companies is that when the big bosses create the problem, in this case the ticket prices, they usually pin the blame on someone else. I can’t say how Ari Emmanuel or Nick Khan are thinking, but would it shock me if HHH takes the fall for their decisions? Not at all!
I see in the Q&A today that someone else doesn't like my approach. It seems they may have forgotten that you're the gatekeeper, and if you didn't want my stuff posted on the site, it wouldn't happen. I ask my questions the way I do because I want to know what you think, but I also like to give you more than one line to chew on.
I love the way that you ask the questions and yep, I am the gatekeeper. Or the crypt keeper, depending on how you look at it.
