Spotlight Match: Rain Conway vs All Go Nelli
Nelli keeps this fast, as the name implies. Rain drags the pace back to his level. Nelli speeds it back up again but gets caught in a Rainmaker and Conway picks up the three.
We’re crowning the inaugural Wrestling Open Women’s Champion tonight!
Match 1: The Verdict (Bryce Donovan & Vinny Scalise) vs chi Cinco (Ichiban & Sammy Diaz) (I Quit Match)
It’s worth noting that Mark Sterling is NOT here…or at least not OUT here? This goes right to the floor! It looks like a Diaz might be double teamed in the aisle but Ichi flies over the top to even the odds! They stomp out Bryce and Vinny but they do not quit. Verdict takes control but they are torturing Ichiban and all he can say is “Ichiban Number One”. “I quit” may not be in his literal vocabulary. They turn to Sammy but Diaz ain’t quitting. Vinny grabs zip ties and Diaz gets tied up and beaten. But no quitting. Ichiban tries to make the save but eats a Blsck hole slam. And another. And a superkick. And another Black hole slam. They keep torturing Ichiban and trying to get Sammy to quit. Bryce grabs a chair. They gut Ichiban and start polling the crowd on the mic on if he should quit. This was a cool spot. Ichiban fights free on the stage. Sammy flies at them with a double axe handle….the one attack he can do with his hands tied. He breaks his bonds! They grab chairs and pummel the verdict! Double corner superkicks and powerbomb to Bryce! Chair assisted corner dropkick to Vinny! Ichiban latched on a tornado armbar. Bryce is screaming in pain! He tries a rope break! No rope breaks. Vinny tries to cut this off…Diaz traps him in a crab! Both are screaming but no one quits. Big waterfall of killer moves! Ichiban escaped a chokeslam and hits the Ichibankai on Donovan! He grabs a door! Ichiban corners Bryce but Donovan throws an uppercut to the nethers and chokeslams Ichi. Vinny has a dog chair and collar?!? Bryce wraps up Ichiban by the throat and they rip at both sides of the chain. Ichiban passes out instead of saying I quit. The match continues! Bryce trying to wake Ichiban back up as Sammy recovers. Cross body to Bryce! Slingshot cutter! Vinny gets tossed through the door! Ichiban chases down Bryce and puts that dog collar on him! He drags him back to the ring. Ichiban and Sammy HANG HIM FROM THE TOP ROPE BY THE DOG CHAIN UNTIL DONOVAN QUITS!!! This was nearly 20 minutes of violence! Awesome match and somehow our OPENER!!!
Match 2: Cash McGuinness vs Bobby Casale
Cash comes out and says he’s tougher than Casale. I’m not sure where he gets that idea but I respect the confidence. Anyways, he’s not and Bobby sends him to the floor repeatedly. And the Cash gets back in the ring and Casale hits the Bobbinator and wins in about a minute. Devin Reno blindsides Casale after the match and goes to injure Bobby’s legs on the posts. The crowd does NOT like this turn of events. But this was a perfect fast segment to follow the opener.
There was a bit of a miscommunication in a match last week where Mathers let Dustin Waller cheat in the end. But in the end…he blames Dustin for cheating in the first place and calls Flash out. Waller is here but he’s not ready to wrestle and he already beat Ryan anyways….so Ryan can fight Rex Lawless to see if he deserves a rematch.
Match 3: Flyin’ Ryan O’Neill vs Rex Lawless
Waller keeps the mic and offers live commentary as O’Neill fights Rex. Rex puts a beating on this kid as Waller mocks him on the mic. This is a slaughter. This is the kind of match that Rex is built for. And this is the kind of mockery that Waller’s character lives for. Ryan won’t stay down though, no matter what Dusty says to do. O’Neill rocks the big man with enziguri’s and Superman punches! Dusty tries to mouth off again but takes a shot from Ryan. A tornado ddt and a swanton bomb connects and Rex is down for the three! Dusty is shocked! Maybe Flyin’ Ryan will get that rematch after all?
Nick Battee & DJ Powers are out here. Who here is ready to take the Pledge of Batteegence? Nick is over the moon that he made it so Jermaine Marbury can no longer trust Benny the Basketball after last week’s ambush. Anyways, we have a tag match.
Match 4: Nick Battee & DJ Powers vs Night Train (All In Bayno & Brett Mettro)
Night Train starts fast but DJ and Nick have plenty of dirty tricks in the playbook. And they execute all of them, overrun the Night Train and pin Mettro while the crowd disapproves of all of this.
It’s time for Wrestling Open champion Bear Bronson to come out here and discuss the ramifications of Oxx Adams pinning him in a tag match last week. But first it’s time to hype up this crowd for the women’s championship match, featuring his wife and our homie, Gabby Forza! Bad to the topic at hand: there’s always someone out there bigger and badder than you. And Oxx was that man last week. So on August 3rd? Oxx gets a shot at the gold at “Summer Stunner”. But…before that? He wants a word with the s***talking motormouth known as BRG. BRG keeps talking about “we” becoming champion. Like he will be champ when Oxx is. Bear laughs at this. He calls out BRG as a fast talking nepo baby who has to hire his muscle. Brett calls Bear out for using his connections to get tryouts and opportunities in other companies. BRG is writing a check that no one thinks he can cash. Brett says he’s been grinding for 13 years and he can beat Bear Bronson with Oxx’s help.
Bronson loves this idea. Since he faces Oxx in two weeks, he’s gonna fight BRG NEXT WEEK. And Oxx? He’s banned from the building. Brett HATES this. Bear tells Brett to bring this energy next week so he can see if the chihuahua has any bite. BRG? He’s very upset.
Main Event: Gabby Forza vs Kylie Alexa (Tournament Final for the inaugural Wrestling Open Women’s Championship)
Rich Palladino gives the announcers duties over to Lauren St. James. Our referee is Gina Monti. Heeeere we go! These two are VERY familiar with each other. It’s been a longer road than expected to get here but Cranston gets this honor tonight! It’s a VERY pro-Gabby crowd. The bell rings and Kylie takes a stroll around the ring. The crowd calls her scared…she…just needs a minute. She gets in and as expected, Gabby just pummels her silly. They fight to the floor, where Kylie introduces her to the post. Alexa throwing her all into everything she’s doing here. Gabby finally catches her with a toss back. Big lariats and a stampede connects for two! Kylie slips frees and blasts a knee in the face for a near fall! Suplex into the buckles! She hits a boot wash instead of her dropkick. Gabby rages up with a German! Spin out bomb for two! They trade forearms until Kylie kicks out the wheels…but those Gnomie arms are still hitting Lariats! Alexa with a destroyer! She hits the corner dropkick! Gabby kicks out of it!!!!! Kylie is furious! She shoves Ref Gina! Gina shoves back! Gabby tries a stampede but Kylie slips…she throws a superkick but hits Gina! Gabby with a powerslam and gets a ten count but Gina is out! Gabby sets up a spear….here comes ref tiger! Gabby spears Tiger! Kylie blindsided Gabby and goes running for the title belt. Announcer Lauren St. James won’t give it to her! Kylie shoves her back and grabs the gold! The crowd upset as Kylie holds it high and prepares to crack Forza….GABBY SPEARS HER! Fire Thunder driver!!!!! She makes the cover as Gina recovers…Kylie kicks out! Gina still down as Gabby regards the belt and ponders giving Kylie a taste of her own medicine. She won’t do it. She turns around and set it down as Kylie hits the corner dropkick to the back of the head. And another to the face! Kylie makes the cover and Gina makes the slow count! One. Two. THREE! Kylie Alexa just became the first Open Women’s Champion! We have made history tonight….BUT CRANSTON IS BIG MAD.
Awesome show tonight bookended by a pair of absolutely killer matches.
