Paul Wight appeared this morning on Great Day Live in Tampa on WTSP channel 10 to promote tomorrow's AEW Beach Break.
Paul Wight joked it was a short drive to work but he doesn't want to tell his bosses, so they don't ask for a discount.
When asked about the product, he said AEW is action packed and a great production. He plugged MJF vs. Kenny Omega for the AEW title and Chris Jerico's appearing as well.
Wight pointed out the tickets are cost-effective and teased he will be in the ring "slapping some people around," but he didn't want to give away more details.
When asked about performing outside, Wight said the outside environment is different and a little more fun. Indoors, sometimes you present the show but outside, the energy flows better and makes the show more engaging. The show is great for the local community and he's happy it's here.
They brought up his title runs and he said he's more of a "what's today, what's tomorrow" guy as opposed to wondering about what he has done.
He joked he got into professional wrestling because he was broke. He was a basketball player and had lost his coach, his father and grandfather. He was meandering through life. He was asked by someone what he wanted to do and the only sports-like activity he had in common with his dad was pro wrestling, which his dad liked. He thought he might not be good at it but if he got beat up on TV, his dad would laugh. he was lucky to have a great career.
Wight came off very engaging and funny.
