OFFICIAL DETAILS ON TWA DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE SCREENING

By Mike Johnson on 2026-07-02 08:02:00

The following press release was issued:

AMBLER, PA. – Wrestling fans and anyone interested in the history of the sport are invited to the premiere of "Bled Dry: The Legacy of the Tri-State Wrestling Alliance," a new feature-length documentary about one of the most influential independent wrestling promotions of the late 1980s and early 90s.

The film premieres on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at the historic Ambler Theater in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. Admission is free. Voluntary donations will be accepted for the Cauliflower Alley Club, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance and support to members of the professional wrestling industry.

Produced by Ryan K Films, the documentary tells the story of the Tri-State Wrestling Alliance through rare archival footage and interviews with the wrestlers, promoters, and personalities who were there. This is the first time the story of TWA has been told in this way, directly by the people who lived it and helped build it.

Before Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) changed the landscape of professional wrestling in Philadelphia, TWA was already pushing the style and presentation that would later define the region. Many consider it the true precursor to ECW and a key part of how the Philadelphia wrestling scene became known for its hard-hitting, no-nonsense identity.

The project follows Ryan K Films' previous documentary, "A Backyard in Delaware," which explored the nearly 50-year history of Jim Kettner's East Coast Wrestling Association. After telling the ECWA story, filmmaker Ryan Kavanagh turned his attention to another important chapter in regional wrestling history, focusing on the promotion that helped set the stage for what came next.

"This has been a passion project from the beginning," said Kavanagh. "TWA deserves a lot more recognition for what it contributed to the evolution of independent wrestling. And at the same time, what ECW went on to become was something truly special. There’s a clear line of influence there, and a lot of respect for how ECW took that foundation and turned it into something that changed wrestling history. We wanted to honor both parts of that story."
