By Mike Johnson on 2026-06-27 10:31:00

All Japan Pro Wrestling issued the following:

Joe Doering, who had been battling a brain tumor, has passed away at the age of 44.

As a top wrestler in All Japan Pro Wrestling, he achieved great success, including winning the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship twice, the World Tag Team Championship four times, and the "World's Strongest Tag Team League" three times.

Joe was born in Chicago, USA. In June 2007, he came to Japan as an exchange student to join All Japan Pro Wrestling and made his debut on the Japanese mat. After that, he received guidance from Keiji Mutoh, the president at the time, and others, and began his career as a foreign wrestler in All Japan. In the same year, he made his debut in the "World's Strongest Tag Team League" as a tag team with Keiji Mutoh and won the tournament on his first try. The following year, in 2008, he and Mutoh won the World Tag Team Championship for the first time. In 2013, he formed Evolution with Suwama. In 2014, he defeated Suwama to win the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship for the first time, and he was highly supported by fans as one of All Japan Pro Wrestling's top foreign wrestlers.

He had been battling illness for a long time, and in February 2016 he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent surgery to remove it, but the tumor recurred in 2022. In November of last year, it was announced that he had a third brain tumor. Just three days prior, he had entered hospice care, but he passed away on June 26th at the young age of 44.

Upon learning of the passing of Joe Doering, all of us at All Japan Pro Wrestling, including the wrestlers and staff, express our deepest condolences and offer our sincerest prayers for his soul.
