SCOTT D'AMORE PAYS TRIBUTE TO JOE DOERING

By Mike Johnson on 2026-06-26 18:59:00

Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling head Scott D'Amore wrote the following tribute to his friend and trainee Joe Doering, who passed away this morning after a long battle with brain cancer:

"It’s been a little over 9 hours since Joe left us and I’m still not sure I can process it all. Even knowing this was coming for a while didn’t soften the blow.

Like everybody in this world I’ve lost people. Family, coworkers, friends, but this one hit differently. Joe was my big little brother of that makes sense.

In wrestling people often talk about family but Joe truly was family. He spent years living with my cousin Jeff and myself, he eat holiday dinner at my mother’s, and he was family in every sense of the word.

I’m grateful to have had Joe in my life. I’m honored to call him brother and I’ll miss him every day that I spend on this earth.

If Joe was here he would look at all of us, shug his shoulders, make that face of his and say “why you crying?”.

Joe, we’re crying because we won’t get to laugh with you, share a drink with you, or just be around you again.

I’ll poor one out for you Joe. Better yet, I’ll drink it and toast you. You never liked to see a good drink go to waste…

Love ya big guy."
