Jonny Fairplay to Defend BRCW Cruiserweight Championship Against Rey Fury at Summer Smash on August 16
Fury earns title opportunity against the reigning Cruiserweight Champion at The Studio at Mizner Park in Boca Raton, Florida
BOCA RATON, Fla. Boca Raton Championship Wrestling (BRCW) has confirmed that reigning BRCW Cruiserweight Champion Jonny Fairplay will defend the title against Rey Fury at Summer Smash, scheduled for Sunday, August 16, 2026 at The Studio at Mizner Park in Boca Raton, Florida. Fairplay has held the BRCW Cruiserweight Championship through a series of defenses across recent BRCW events. At BRCW Over The Edge on December 5, 2025, Bull James defeated Fairplay, but Fairplay retained the championship because James did not meet the division’s weight-class requirements.
Fury has been part of the BRCW cruiserweight picture, including a multi-competitor championship match at BRCW November Knockdown on November 2, 2025 that also featured Bobby Fish and Alan Martinez. At Summer Smash, he meets Fairplay one-on-one with the title on the line.
The match becomes the third title bout confirmed for the event, joining the BRCW Heavyweight Championship match between Steve Maclin and Matt Riddle and the BRCW Women’s Championship match between Shayna Baszler and Harley Cameron.
