Just finished watching RAW, I thought it was a really, really good show. And we get an afternoon RAW next week, so I’m happy about that.
I love the early shows as well. I liked Raw too and finally this happened.
1. The Bloodline - finally hearing some boos in the crowd. About damn time. I guess beating up non-wrestlers was the tipping point, lol. I’m guessing those boos may not be there next week since the show is in the UK and they’ll likely be cheering most everything.
It’s about time creative realized what they have been showing us. It seemed to cement that they acknowledged The Bloodline were heels when they have Roman say that everyone hates them. I still don’t get how they didn’t see what they were presenting with the group, but at least they finally acknowledged it.
2. I am legitimately intrigued by the group dynamic right now, as it appears there’s already infighting. Jacob has fallen right into line with Roman and the Usos are looking to be the odd men out, and barely seem to get along themselves. So they’ve got my attention, which is good. That said, I enjoy sub-plots, but with Roman telling Solo to “come home“ and the drama within Roman’s faction, is it too much to follow? And to further that, does the continuing shades of grey help or hurt the whole saga?
I loved what they did this week. We had a lot of interesting developments. It’s not too much for me at the moment. I want to see where it goes, which I couldn’t say this time last week.
3. Chad Gable - He is on fire, and the crowd was loving him. In the long term, I hope he winds up with the IC title. The guy would absolutely define and be perfect for the “fighting champion“ role. And not for nothing, the Ethan Page/Rusev pairing seems to have revitalized Rusev, it’s been really good. Do you see Gable in a major role at SS? I hope so.
They have grabbed all of the goodwill that Gable garnered in Mexico and brought it stateside and I love it. Gable definitely could be in the IC picture. He could even go past that if they use him correctly. I hope it keeps building because he is great and deserves that kind of run.
4. LA Knight - He’s clearly going to need some allies at some point, as he’s fighting everyone solo. Who do you see that will eventually get slotted in to help him?
Mike and I talked about that on the show yesterday. Knight has been the guy speaking up since WrestleMania and now The Bloodline is finally being presented as heels. One babyface who doesn’t take any crap that could stand with him? CM Punk, especially given his last match was against Reigns. Another dark horse if they book him right? How about Chad Gable?
5. Oba/Dom main event- that went as it should have, an absolute ass kicking. The post match promo leads me to believe that Lesnar is all but guaranteed to show up in Saudi and cost Oba the win in the finals, and cue the SS rematch. If that happens, I know they don’t do count out or DQ finishes in main events these days, so does Oba eat a pinfall loss again? Even if it’s through interference, I worry about having him lose again so soon. Thoughts?
This is a situation I could see a count out happening. Oba could be in full control when Brock comes and taunts him. Oba could take the bait and they could brawl around the building, leading to a count out. It seems destined that it will Femi-Lesnar at SummerSlam so they have to get Oba out of the tournament some way. That would be a good way to do it. I don’t want Femi to take a pin, no matter what the circumstances are.
