JON MOXLEY TALKS AEW RETURN TO CINCY, WHY WRESTLING SHOULD BE EXPERIENCED LIVE, FUNK VS. FOLEY AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2026-06-09 09:31:00

AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley is doing a media tour of the Cincinatti market today to promote this week's AEW Dynamite and Collision tapings at The Andrew J. Brady Music Center.  Moxley appeared on CBS affiliate channel 12 WKRC this morning to discuss the tapings and more.

Moxley was asked about returning to the market.  He described himself as a cheetah who hasn't eaten in weeks prowling the Savannah.  He said his teeth were sharp.  He was asked about a broken tooth and said, "You don't want to know" what happened.  He plugged he would be facing Shane Taylor tomorrow and it's become a bit of a heated issue.  There's a bit of "gang warfare" between Taylor's group and Moxley's group, The Death Riders.

Moxley said there's pride of the line and neither wants to leave with their tail between the legs.  He said it's going to be a tense situation.  They played up a Cincy vs. Cleveland rivalry as Moxley was raised in the city and Taylor was raised there.  Moxley said he's not going to walk into his home and let Shane disrespect him.

Moxley was asked about growing up in Cincy.  He said he started with HWA (Les Thatcher's promotion) in 2004 and has since been around the world multiple times in every city and country you can think of.  He said he's been blessed to "do this craft" all around the world and to come back here to Cincy for Dynamite and Collision.  He said Collision gets wilder than Dynamite and pushed fans to make sure they are there.

He said one of his favorite things about AEW is the choice of venues and the intimacy involved.  One of the best things about wrestling is experiencing it live and it's the best rock concert and sporting event rolled into one.  You need to be there in person to experience it.  It will air live but there's no comparison to being there live in person.

Moxley was asked to pick between Mick Foley and Terry Funk.  He said you don't have one without the other.  He was asked thumbtacks vs. barbed wire and he said barbed wire because tacks get stuck in your underwear and you find them hours later.

They closed out with a final push for the tapings.
