WWE FLAG CAUSES POWER OUTAGE FOR THOUSANDS IN CONNECTICUT

By Mike Johnson on 2026-06-08 10:36:00

The New York Times reported today that when the WWE Headquarters' American flag was ripped off the Stamford, CT building during a massive thunderstorm on Saturday night, the ensuing explosion that occurred when it struck a nearby transformer lead to a power outage for 5,000 residents in the area and then a second outage for 40,000 customers in The Greenwich and Stamford area.

The initial power outage was corrected through Eversource Energy re-routing power.  They removed the flag on Sunday, but not before shifting winds during that process led to the flag causing a second outage.  They are still working to restore power for another 12,000 customers.

The WWE flag was 3,000 square feet.

WWE did not respond to The Times' request for comment.
