MJF VS. RUSH, TWO RETURNS, THE OWEN CONTINUES AND MORE: 6/3 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

AEW Dynamite is live from The Siegel Center in Richmond, VA. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone.

We start with Renee Paquette backstage with Rush, who says he has beaten the entire roster and has waited three years for a shot at the AEW World title. If he dies in the ring, if that is what it takes, this is for his people and he will take the world title because when you mess with the bull, MJF shows up and slaps him before he can finish his catchphrase, and they are pulled apart.

After Excalibur runs down the card, Renee is with Rush, and Andrade El Idolo shows up and gives Rush a pep talk before he heads to the ring.

MJF (AEW World Champion) vs Rush - No countout

MJF comes to the ring in a matador's outfit.

They charge at each other and throw hands as the bell rings. MJF spits on Rush, and when Rush charges again, MJF does it. Rush then gets a deep arm drag and MJF is sent to the floor where Rush dives onto him. Rush then pulls up MJF and spits on him before whipping him into the barricades. Rush grabs a camera cable and chokes MJF with it. MJF is sat in a chair and Rush charges, but MJF gets a drop toe hold sending Rush into the chair.

MJF gets a big boot into the timekeeper’s area. MJF charges again and Rush gets a back body drop sending MJF over the timekeeper's table. MJF returns to the ring and Rush follows and pulls off a turnbuckle pad. MJF is in the corner and tells Rush to have a heart, and instead Rush stomps him down in the corner. Rush charges at MJF, who rolls to the apron. Rush pulls him back and goes to toss him into the exposed turnbuckle but the ref gets in the way to stop him. MJF reveres it and whips Rush into the exposed turnbuckle.

Rush is busted open and MJF gets a snap mare and then gets a side headlock . MJF gets a hair pulldown when Rush gets to his feet. Rush throws a series of strikes and MJF gets a spinebuster and then beats Rush’s head repeatedly. MJF tries to run Rush into the exposed turnbuckle again and the ref gets in the way to stop it. MJF shoves the ref out of the way and Rush shoves MJF into the turnbuckle. Rush whips MJF into the turnbuckles back and forth and then gets a German suplex for two. Rush gets a missile drop kick from the top for two.

MJF gets a jack knife takedown for two. MJF then comes off the top and stomps on Rush’s arm. Rush tries for a hurricanrana, but MJF is able to stop it and makes it a power bomb. MJF grabs his Salt of the Earth arm bar. Rush reverses the hold and they fight through the ropes. MJF goes for a heatseeker and Rush pushes him off and nails MJF with a headbutt. Rush pulls MJF into a straightjacket piledriver on the apron as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, we are told that the doctor said that MJF and Rush are not medically able to continue with Rush getting a separated shoulder and Rush headbutts the medical staff. Rush stomps down MJF in the corner and hits the bull’s horns, and MJF gets a hand on the rope at two. Rush tries for another pile driver, but his arm is too injured to lift MJF. 

On the floor, MJF avoids a drop kick and Rush breaks the barricade. MJF is able to get a pile driver on the broken part of the barricade. MJF pulls Rush to the ring, limping as he goes. They return to the ring and MJF has trouble standing up. MJF is tossed off when he tries for a heatseeker. Rush goes to the top and misses a drop kick. MJF gets a crossface on Rush. Rush flips off MJF as he passes out.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: MJF

MJF lines up to nail Rush with the belt and Mark Briscoe charges the ring. Mark grabs MJF for a Jay Driller and MJF hits a low blow on Briscoe. As MJF sets for an attack on Briscoe, the Conglomeration shows and MJF leaves the ring and heads to the back./ 

Mark Briscoe vs Lio Rush

Lio comes up to Mark and says something in his ear. Mark catches Lio’s kick and flips him. Lio runs the ropes and they stop before attacking. Mark hits an enziguri after Lio gets a waistlock. Lio goes to the corner and Mark charges into a big boot, but Mark then chops Lio down to the floor. They exchange "Bang Bang" shouts on the apron before they throw hands on the apron. Lio bites Mark’s hand and they go to the floor where Lio gallops after Mark. Mark gets into the ring and nails Lio with a scissor kick to the floor and then hits a neckbreaker in front of the apron as we go to picture-in-picture

When we return to full screen, Lio dives onto Mark on the floor. Lio goes to the top, misses a frog splash, and does the crane kick pose. Lio hits a stunner off the ropes for a two-count. Lio goes for a double underhook, but Mark counters with a back body drop. They scream at each other a few times, and Mark hits a series of palm strikes and then an exploder suplex. Mark lands a charge in the corner and puts Lio on top for an iconoclasm for a two-count. 

Mark hits a short clothesline and sets for the Jay Driller, but Lio turns it into a jackknife pin for two. Lio hits an insigiri. Mark stops Lio’s next attack and hits a driver for the pin and the win.

Winner: Mark Briscoe

Mark grabs a mic and says he is talking to MJF, and says that in 2023, his brother was gone in the blink of an eye. He says after that, he made his AEW debut alone. He was filled with grief, anger, and rage that he had to push down, and wrestling was his therapy, but he still couldn't find joy until he joined the Conglomeration. But then he crossed paths with MJF. He had never hated a man as much as he hated MJF, and he beat MJF.

But then MJF came back and the rage came back to the surface, and now MJF has something Mark wants. Mark says he doesn’t complain, he is a grinder, and he is now calling out MJF. He says MJF calls himself the devil, but Mark’s tattoo says 'Child of God' in Hebrew, and MJF, you lose, so quit being scared and give him a title shot. 

We then get a recap of the feud between Kevin Knight and Speedball Mike Bailey.

We then see the Triangle of Madness come through the crowd and Thekla says she was called the Idol Killer and she doesn’t care if Stardom wrestlers come to AEW or she goes over there, she is declaring war on Stardom. 

In the back, Daniel Garcia is telling Will Ospreay to do better against Mark Davis. Jon Molsley shows and tells Daniel to stop and says the new Will Ospreay hasn’t faced Mark Davis before and he has one job tonight, to break Mark Davis. Mox says he will take care of the gang and alliances. 

Andrade El Idolo vs The Already In The Ring TK Vandu 

TK doesn’t even get his name shown on the screen so he doesn’t get much more than to look at the lights as the ref counts three. 

Winner: Andrade El Idolo

After the match, Andrade says MJF has the title, and he wants it. He knows MJF has beaten Rush but does he think he can beat Andrade? How you know?

Mark Davis and Don Callis come to the ring and Don shakes Andrade’s hand and tells us he has something important to say. The newest member of the Don Callis Family is Kevin Knight, who comes to the ring.

Andrade is not all that happy about it. 

Kevin Knight (TNT Champion) vs Speedball Mike Bailey 

They lock up and Knight forces them into the ropes and Knight tries for a strike when the ref breaks them up and Bailey dodges it;. Knight goes to the floor to consult with Callis before Bailey comes to the floor.  Knight sends Bailey into the steel ring steps and lays in blows on the floor. Knight sends Bailey into the ring and Bailey gets a rollup for two when Knighty gets into the ring. They dodged each other’s attacks. Knight sends Bailey to the floor again and joins him. Bailey is able to get a pair of kicks and then a corkscrew springboard front he ropes to the floor. 

Bailey rolls Knight into the ring and goes to the top. Bailey misses a shooting star press from the top and Knight hits a drop kick as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Bailey grabs a hanging guillotine choke.  Knight slams and then kicks him for two. Knight grounds and pounds Bailey and the ref pulls him off for closed fists. Bailey gets a rollup for two. Bailey gets a series of kicks and drops Knight with a spin kick. Bailey pulls himself up on the apron as Jake Doyule is at ringside. Knight does the same and Bailey gets a running kick and tries for a springboard, but Knight shoves Bailey to the floor.

Bailey pulls himself up and Knight dives onto him. Bailey is rolled into the ring and Knight pulls Bailey up and Bailey gets a rollup for two. Knight tries for a sunset flip and Bailey blocks it and gets a back flip knee drop for two. Bailey hits a spin kick and then goes to the top. Knight gets a leaping hurricanrana followed by a back breaker for two. Bailey gets a straight-jacket takedown and covers for two.

Knight goes to the top and Bailey joins him there. Doyle tries to get in the ring distracting the ref so that Dallis can sweep Bailey’s leg. Knight hits a leaping power bomb off the top and follows with a side slam for the pin and the win.

Winner and still TNT Champion: Kevin Knight

Kevin Knight grabs a mic and says now that he has gotten rid of the dead weight, he is going to be a Two Belt Knight.

Renee is with The Dogs and they say last week, they took out Cope and Cage and invented the new five second pose and beat the Bang Bang Gang. The Young Bucks show up and say they saw what The Dogs did last week, and as the new guys, they are trying to make an impression. They say The Dogs think they are next in line, but they don’t see the titles going to the Bullet Club’s worst leader ever and his tag team partner and challenges them to a fight right now. The Dogs say they are the number one contenders that they will not face anyone tonight.

Alex Windsor vs Mercedes Mone - Owen Hart Tournament Quarter Final Match. 

The returning Mercedes Mone is the Wild Card entrant.

They lock up and Mone forces them to the corner quickly. Mone breaks clean and they lock up and Mone pulls Alex down by her hair. Mone walks across Alex’s back. Moen gets a rollup for two and then a drop kick for two. Alex gets an arm drag on Mone and then a drop kick of her own. Alex charges into a back elbow in the corner and then Mone gets a spinning takedown into a crossface. 

Mone rolls Alex into the ring and keeps the crossface. Alex rolls through and Mone turns it into a back stabber for two. Mone gets a pair of snap mares. Alex is able to roll through with an ankle pick, but Mone goes to the apron. Mone gets a knee lift in the ropes and then a back breaker across the middle rope and to the floor where Moen gets a meteora as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Mone gets the three amigos suplexes. Mone goes to the top where Alex gets an iconoclasm and a charge into the corner. Alex gets a forearm off the ropes and Mone rolls to the floor. Alex dives onto Mone and then gets a clothesline off the apron. Mone is rolled into the ring. Mone gets two cuplexes and Alex is able to get a slam for two. 

Mone gets a boot up in the corner and then grabs Alex with her feet and slams her into the turnbuckles. She pulls Alex to the top and they fight on top. Mone gets a meteora on Alex for two. Mone gets a power bomb into the middle turnbuckle. Alex dodges a double knee strike and gets a rollup for two. Mone gets a two count. Alex gets a rollup for two. Mone does the same for two. Mone gets a knee strike and a back stabber into the statement maker and Aleex has to tap out.

We get a hype video for Divine Dominion vs TayJay on Collision Saturday.

In the back, Renee is with Don Callis and Kazuchika Okada, and he says he is a magnet for the gold and with his help, Keven Knight will be the next world champion. And later tonight, Mark David will crush Will Ospreay. He then says Okada got screwed and they will not stand for it. Okada says his international title doesn’t belong in a backpack.

In the back, Tommaso Caimpa wonders where Jericho is, and he will beat Jericho again, and again, and again. After Jericho beat Ricochet, reality struck. Ciampa says he is a patient man with a long list and if Jericho returns, he will be waiting, unless he strikes first.

Will Ospreay vs Mark Davis - Owen Hart Tournament Semi-Final match

Will goes after Davis with kicks and works him over in the corner. Davis gets a scoop slam and Will escapes out the back of a second. Davis gets a back body drop followed by a senton. Davis gets a cravat to bring Will down. Davis gets an abdominal stretch and Will breaks out with strikes. Will gets a springboard flip kick. Will gets a leaping springboard forearm for two. Will snaps Davis' shoulder and then hits a drop kick. 

Davis goes to the floor and Will joins him and they go back and forth until Davis whips Will into the barricade. Davis picks up Will for a power bomb, but Will fights out of it on the apron. Will goes to the top and Davis gets out of the way. Will runs at Davis for a hurricanrana on the floor and slams Davis’s head on the announce table. Will tries for a spinning DDT and instead Davis slams Will on the announce table. Davis pummels Will on the floor. Davis rolls Will into the ring and then puts Will on top. Davis hits a superlex and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Davis gets a backdrop for two. Davis chops Will down. Davis chops Will down again. Davis keeps chopping as Will powers up. They throw hands and Will gets a series of elbow strikes and when Davis chops him down, Will kips up and hits an insigiri. Davis gets another chop and Will gets another insigiri. Davis blocks a hidden blade, but Will gets a series of kicks and then a spinning drop kick for two. 

Will gets a German suplex for two. Will goes to the top and hits a leaping double stomp and follows with a juji gitame. Davis gets up and slams Will, following with a pile driver for two. Davis goes for a pile driver on the apron, but Will escapes and tries for one of his own. Davis escapes and they fight on the apron. Will gets a hurricanrana from the apron to the floor. 

Will is back in the ring at 6 and Davis gets in the ring at 9, Will hits a drop kick and follows with a Style Clash for two. They go back and forth and Davis accidentally nails the Ref with an insigiri. Will hits a hidden blade. Trent Beretta and El Clon come to the ring to work over Will, and they are stopped by Danbiel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta. Lance Archer takes them out and Claudio Castagnoli takes out Archer; Brian Cage takes out Claudio and Pac takes out Cage. 

Davis attacks Pac, but Pac escapes and Will gets an Oz Cutter for two as the ref is back in and then dragged out by Jake Doyle. Dayle attacks Will and Marina Shafir leaps onto Doyle’s back and Doyle slams her. This brings in Mox, who drops Doyle with a Paradigm shift. Pac dives onto a crowd at ringside.

The Death Riders and the Don Callis Family fight up the ramp, but Kyle Fletcher hits a half and half suplex on Will. Kyle pulls out a screwdriver and Konosuke Takeshita pulls him out of the ring and they brawl at ringside.

In the ring, Davis has the screwdriver and Will nails Davis with two hidden blades and the ref gets to the ring and counts to two. Davis hits a power pile driver for two. Will is able to get the juji gitame and Davis has to tap out.
