5/20 AEW COLLISION COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2026-05-20 22:06:00

Welcome to this week's AEW Collision report.

I'm filling in for Cory Strode.

We open with the aftermath of Speedball Mike Bailey vs. Darby Allin.  AEW TNT Champion Kevin Knight told Mike Bailey how proud he was of him.  He said that no one has heart like Darby Allin and we've never seen a champion like him before.  Now, it's up to Darby to humble MJF.  Knight said that after he shaved MJF bald, they are going to send him back to turkey for hair plugs.  He said they will both be waiting for Darby after the PPV and not to let everyone down.  Jetspeed left.

MJF returned to the ring and attacked Darby from behind.  He kept working over Darby.  He went under the ring and retrieved electric hair clippers.   He attempted to use them to bludgeon Darby but was drilled.  Darby tried to shave his head but MJF escaped and ran up the aisle.

Will Ospreay vs. Katsuyori Shibata

They grapple.  Shibata offers his hand but Ospreay takes him down and works over the ankle.  They battle goes to the floor, where Ospreay was drilled with a kick to the face.  Back in the ring, Shibata worked over Opreay with chops.  Ospreay comes back with a big boot as Shibata charged.  Ospreay nailed a pescado to the floor.   When they returned from commercial, Ospreay nailed an inverted atomic drop and a springboard forearm for a two count.  Anthony Bowens and Marian Shafir faced off on the floor.  Ospreay went for the Ozcutter but it was blocked ans Shibata for the cross armbreaker.  Ospreay powered him up and drilled him, then hit a Styles Clash.  He smashed Shibata with the Hidden Blade for the pin.

Your winner, Will Ospreay!

Samoa Joe came out and cut a promo.  In a short amount of time, he has Will all to himself.  Will decided he didn't want to be on Joe's side, so he's going to face the consequences.  He's going to give Will his dream match, because he's going to put him to sleep.  Ospreay said that the match Sunday is a dream come true for him.  Ospreay said his nightmare is hearing all the criticism of him.  He had double neck fusion surgery, so no sh**.  For 20 years, people have chanted "Joe is gonna kill you" and he said he's going to fight to the death.  He said the winner of the tournament gets a title shot at All In: Wembley and that allows him to live his dream to compete there.  He said he has a complete country on his back.  He said the old Ospreay died at the hands of the Death Riders and now he's reborn as a murderer.  He starts to road to fulfill his dream to win the Owen Cup and the AEW title.  Good promos.

Backstage, Adam Copeland said to Christian Cage that they have done everything together.  In a business where you have to question what is and isn't real, their friendship is real.  They have come into everyone's homes via TV for 30 years and that's a special connection.  FTR wants to end that connection on Sunday.  He dared the best FTR to show up, so they can make them say I Quit.

Rush vs. TJ Crawford

Rush murdered and pinned poor ol' TJ.

Your winner, Rush!

Rush said when you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

Divine Dominion surrounded Renee Paquette for an interview.  They said let's see how long this match is going to last.

AEW Women's Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion vs. Kayla Lopez & Ella Valentine

There's a five minute time limit for this Eliminator match.

Valentine was wiped out by Megan Bayne early.  Lena Kross tagged in and drilles Lopez with a big kick.  Bayne nailed some German suplexes.  Thy nailed stereo delayed vertical suplexes.  They each nailed a chokeslam and scored the pin.

Your winners, Divine Dominion!

Excalibur ran down the lineup for Sunday's PPV.

AEW Tag Team Champions FTR with Stokely vs. Roderick Strong & Orange Cassidy

FTR attacked the challengers before the bell.  They attempted a stuff piledriver off the ropes on Cassidy but Cash Wheeler was knocked off the ropes by Strong.  FTR regrouped on the floor.  They battled back and forth.  After a commercial, Strong and Wheeler battled.  Cassidy tagged in and nailed Dax but was caught with a double suplex.  Strong saved his partner.  Cassidy scored a two count on Dax with a sunset flip.    Cassidy hit a dive on Dax.   Wheeler drilled Cassidy and chopped him hard in the corner.  Wheeler cinched in a cobra clutch but Cassidy fought his way out of it.  FTR cut the ring in half as Dax nailed a big bodyslam.     Dax nailed a piledriver but Cassidy kicked out at the last second.

Back from break, FTR continued wearing Cassidy down for several minutes until he finally evaded a Wheeler splash and reached Strong for another hot tag. Strong stormed the ring with rapid-fire chops and backbreakers before tagging Cassidy back in and practically launching him at FTR as a human projectile. Cassidy drilled Wheeler with a diving DDT for two while Strong wiped out Harwood with a baseball slide.  Harwood recovered quickly enough to send Strong crashing into the ring post, and FTR mocked Cassidy’s trademark lazy kicks before attempting a double suplex. Strong interrupted with a Sick Kick, allowing Cassidy to stack Wheeler up for another near fall. Moments later, Stokely climbed onto the apron holding Christian Cage’s watch. Cassidy ducked out of the way, causing Harwood to collide with Stokely, leading to yet another frantic two-count off a Cassidy cradle.

Cassidy followed with a Stundog Millionaire and signaled for the Orange Punch, but he ran directly into the Shatter Machine. Strong barely saved the match at the last possible second. Cassidy answered with a desperation backslide on Harwood for another razor-close near fall before chaos completely broke loose. Cassidy nearly collided with referee Paul Turner, who instinctively ducked and covered. The distraction gave Stokely the opening to blast Cassidy with the loaded watch, allowing Harwood to roll him up and finally secure the victory for FTR.

Your winners and still AEW Tag Team Champions, FTR!
