5/13 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2026-05-13 22:48:00

AEW Dynamite is live from Harrah's Cherokee Center-Asheville in Asheville, NC. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone.

We start the show with MJF arriving at the building, and Renee Paquette asks if he is really willing to put his hair on the line. He doesn’t answer, but as he comes in, he sees all sorts of bald men. Ricochet tells him Max will look good, but not as good as Ricochet.

FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), The Dogs (Clark Connors and David Finlay), and Tommaso Ciampa vs. The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), Orange Cassidy, Adam Copeland, and Christian Cage

And this week we start with a ten-man tag.

We start with all the men throwing hands in and then out of the ring.

Dax and Cassidy enter the ring, and Dax beats down Cassidy.

Dax and Cassidy fight in the corner, and Dax hits a superplex from the top.

Cassidy gets a Stundog Millionaire and then his spinning DDT.

Stokely grabs Cassidy’s foot so that Cash can attack, and then all five members of Dax’s team work over Cassidy.

Cassidy finally gets the hot tag to Nick, and it’s time for Young Buckery.

Stokely interrupts a superkick party by grabbing their feet and gets dragged into the ring. He offers them his watch to leave him alone until FTR attacks the Bucks.

Then we finally get the superkick party.

Cage tags in as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Cage has been the babyface (?) in peril.

Cope gets the hot tag and cleans house.

Everyone gets a big move on the last person in the ring until Cage’s team is able to get splashes from the top, and Cope hits an Impaler on Connors for two.

Cassidy and Cage do a comedy bit with pockets, and Cage tosses Cassidy onto FTR’s team on the floor.

FTR gets a Shatter Machine on Cope for two, broken up by Cassidy.

Another sequence where everyone gets a big move on the last person in the ring.

Cope leaps over a spear from Connors so that Connors nails Dax. Connors takes superkicks, an Orange Punch, and a spear from Cope, and Cope covers for the pin and the win.

Winners: The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), Orange Cassidy, Adam Copeland, and Christian Cage

We get another video of Will Ospreay training with the Death Riders. Mox and Ospreay talk about when Ospreay won the Super Juniors. Mox talks about how years pass and life happens, and it adds weight to your shoulders, and Ospreay has to get back to the guy who felt like he could fly. Now, he says, Ospreay is a bird of prey. He isn’t going out to protect anything; he needs to go out there to give something.

We then get a video about the Stadium Stampede match.

We then get Ricochet, Mark Davis, Toa Leona, and Bishop Kaun. He says that Andrade El Idolo and The Dogs will be joining his team for Stadium Stampede.

Speedball Mike Bailey w/Kevin Knight vs. the already-in-the-ring Westbrook

Westbrook does a decent job of letting Bailey show off his moveset before Bailey hits the Ultimo Weapon for the pin and the win.

Winner: Speedball Mike Bailey

Kevin Knight (AEW TNT Champion) w/Speedball Mike Bailey vs. Brian Cage

Cage returns for Knight’s open challenge.

Knight tries to stick and move, but his blows do next to nothing. Cage catches Knight when Knight tries a crossbody and then does bicep curls with Knight. Knight tries shoulder tackles, and Cage picks him up and slams him into the corner. Cage gets shoulder thrusts into Knight in the corner. Knight is whipped hard into the corner.

Cage runs into a big boot and answers with a clothesline. Knight is able to drop-kick Cage to the floor and then tries diving into him and pretty much overshoots Cage so that Cage makes it a slam, and then Cage runs Knight into the apron as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Cage pulls Knight into the ring and gets a twisting neckbreaker for two. Knight is able to escape out the back of a pickup, and Cage is able to pick Knight up, but Knight holds on and snaps Cage’s neck on the top rope and then hits a drop-kick from the top, and both men are down. Knight gets a quick series of unanswered blows and then hits a pop-up drop-kick.

Cage is knocked to the floor, and Knight leaps into Cage’s arms. Knight is able to get a tijeras on Cage, ramming Cage into the steel steps. Knight gets a leaping clothesline from the apron. Lance Archer looks to interfere at ringside, but Bailey hits him with a superkick, and Cage is rolled into the ring. Cage is up and gets a vertical suplex on Knight into the ring for two. Bailey and Archer keep brawling.

Knight gets a DDT on Cage for two. Knight goes for a hurricanrana, but Cage holds on to the ropes and pulls Knight up. Knight is able to reverse the pull-up and get the hurricanrana and then hits a UFO splash for the pin and the win.

Winner and still TNT Champion: Kevin Knight

Bailey grabs a mic and congratulates Knight. Knight says they are both red hot right now and then welcomes Cage back. Bailey says that he wants the next AEW World Championship match.

In the back, Jack Perry says that Mark Davis isn’t a champion to him because he needed help to beat him. So, at Stadium Stampede, he will get his revenge, and then it’s back to grassroots, where he will be in the Owen Hart tournament.

Will Ospreay vs. Ace Austin

They shake hands to start the match, but Ace is tentative due to Ospreay training with the Death Riders. They start with arm bars. Ospreay gets an armbar takeover and then a side headlock takeover, and they break. They grab a Greco-Roman knuckle lock, and Ace forces Ospreay down. Ospreay gets a bridge, and Ace kneels on his midsection. Ospreay gets a monkey flip and then stomps on Ace’s arm.

Ospreay snaps the arm over his shoulder, and then they run the ropes. Ace gets a drop toehold for one only. Ospreay gets a blow as he gets up, and Ace is able to take down Ospreay, bind the legs, and get a bridge to pull at Ospreay's neck, and Ospreay goes to the ropes. Ace gets a deep squat into a Death Valley Driver as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Ospreay hits a springboard clothesline over the top rope and then an atomic drop, a kick, and then a standing Sky Twister for two. Ospreay goes back to work on Ace’s arm. Ospreay gets a springboard backflip kick. They fight with Ace on the apron and Ospreay on the floor until Ace gets a dive onto Ospreay. Ospreay gets a kick to Ace’s arm and rolls Ace into the ring.

Ospreay comes off the ropes with a kick to Ace’s back followed by an OsCutter for two. Ospreay misses a Hidden Blade, and Ace turns it into a facebuster. Ospreay goes to the top, and Ace gets a series of kicks and then a tijeras from the apron. Ace traps the legs and gets a pin with a bridge for two. Ace hits a Flatliner for two.

Ace puts Ospreay on the top and joins him there, where they fight. Ospreay pops Ace’s elbow by trapping the arm and dropping down. Ace leaps, but Ospreay catches him for a slam for two. They throw hands as they work to their feet. They start trading kicks, and they move to fighting in the corner, where Ace gets a kick out of the corner. Ace charges, and Ospreay gets a back body drop followed by a Hidden Blade. When Ace gets up, Ospreay gets a leaping juji-gatame, and Ace has to tap out.

Winner: Will Ospreay

Will and Ace shake hands after the match.

Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Anthony Bowens come to the stage. Joe says that they meet in the opening round of the Owen Hart tournament. Joe says that if he had joined The Opps, he could have had a bye in the tournament, but instead he is a lapdog for the Death Riders. Joe says he made his choice, and at Double or Nothing, he will suffer the consequences. He is fine to wait and deal with Ospreay later, but his friends aren’t as willing to wait.

As Shibata and Bowens get to the ring, the Death Riders come to the ring through the crowd. The Opps back off slowly and go to the back.

Renee is in the back with Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita. MJF shows up, and he says that Takeshita has become one of the best wrestlers in the world and then beat Okada, and he would love to face Takeshita for the world title. They shake hands. Takeshita leaves, and MJF says Takeshita has to win because he can’t become a disgusting bald freak, and he hands the Dynamite Diamond to Don.

Andrade El Idolo shows up, and MJF leaves. Andrade says next time, it has to be his turn.

Renee is with the Conglomeration, and Orange talks about how they have a shot at the Tag Team Championships, but they haven’t decided who should go for the title. Kyle O’Reilly says it should be Roderick Strong and Cassidy since he is going after Mox. Willow Nightingale says she is going for the tournament as well and will win to get the World Title as well as the TBS title. She asks about the word of the day, which brings out the returning Mark Briscoe, who cuts a Mark Briscoe promo.

The Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue) vs. The Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor) and Hikaru Shida

Hayter and Thekla start, and before they lock up, all six women start brawling, and the Triangle are forced to the floor, where everyone brawls. The Birds and Shida get ten on the floor and in the ring. Hayter works over Thekla in the corner. Blue and Alex fight on the barricade, and then Hayter helps Alex pick up Skye and drop her on the apron. Thekla dives onto Hayter and Alex as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Hayter has been the babyface in peril through the break. Hayter is able to get a big boot and tags in Shida. Shida runs wild to silence from the crowd. Shida gets a stalling vertical suplex on Thekla for two. Shida lays in blows on Thekla, and Thekla is able to start firing back. Hart tags in, and then she tags in Skye, and they double-team Shida. Thekla tags in for the spider spear for two, broken up by The Birds.

Shida is dragged to her corner, and Alex tags in and holds Thekla for Hayter to get a big boot. She hits a lariat, and they set for Two Birds, One Stone, but Skye trips Hayter. Everyone brawls for a bit, and then it’s time for everyone to get a big move on the last person in the ring. The Birds charge into Skye and set for Two Birds, One Stone, and Thekla attacks with the title belt in front of the ref for a DQ.

Winners via DQ: The Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor) and Hikaru Shida

The Triangle of Madness attacks The Birds after the match, and Hart hits the ref with the black mist. Shida doesn’t go to their help, but instead Mina Shirakawa, Willow Nightingale, and Thunder Rosa come to their aid.

We then get a hype video for Rush.

Darby Allin (AEW World Champion) vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Don Callis joins commentary.

Darby hits a drop-kick immediately and dives onto Takeshita, who catches him and slams him into the barricade and then rolls him into the ring. Takeshita kicks Darby off the apron and then rolls him back in the ring for two. Darby lays in a quick series of blows, and Takeshita drops him with a single blow.

Takeshita tosses Darby across the ring, where he slams into the turnbuckles. Takeshita puts Darby on top and joins him, where Darby knocks down Takeshita. Darby dives into Takeshita, where he bounces off Takeshita. They brawl to the floor, and Takeshita hits Darby with knees. Darby is whipped into the barricade. Takeshita moves the steel steps, and he and Darby fight in front of them. Takeshita tries for a running knee, but Darby dodges, and he goes into the steel steps. Darby nails Takeshita with a drop-kick off the steel steps and then dives from the ring into Takeshita.

They fight on the apron, and Takeshita gets a Blue Thunder Bomb on Darby to the floor as we go to picture-in-picture.

As we return to full screen, Darby gets a sunset flip and then a guillotine choke. Takeshita gets to his feet and breaks the hold. Both men are down and struggle to get up. Takeshita is up first and goes to the top of the steel steps. They fight on the steps, and Darby gets a Scorpion Death Drop on the steps. Darby crawls to the ring and goes to the top for a Coffin Drop to the floor. Darby rolls Takeshita into the ring for a two count. Darby goes to the top, and Takeshita gets the knees up for a crucifix pin for two and then a Power Drive Knee. Darby reverses a powerbomb into a Scorpion Death Lock, and Takeshita gets to the rope for a break. Darby hits a pair of Coffin Drops for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: Darby Allin.

Darby calls for MJF to come to the ring for a contract signing. A table is brought to the ring, and MJF slowly walks to the ring. Darby gets to his feet and signs the contract. MJF stands back and watches. He stalls as the crowd chants “Bald” before he grabs the mic.

MJF says he is happy for Darby for holding HIS World Championship. MJF says there is a small part of him that feels bad for him since he will never hold the title again, and he has as much of a chance to hold the title again as Hangman Adam Page. He then runs down Darby as a stuntman who got lucky. In New York City, MJF says he will go down as a three-time champion at 30 years old and go down in history as being the best of all time.

Darby grabs the mic and says that MJF is too vain because he thinks about legacy, but Darby lives in the moment, and at Double or Nothing, he will make MJF a bald-headed bitch. MJF signs the contract and then attacks Darby. MJF then flips the table and nails Darby with the Dynamite Diamond ring. MJF stands over Darby with the title belt and drops it on him. MJF then sets for a piledriver from the second turnbuckle, but Kevin Knight hits the ring to drive him off, and we are desperately out of time!
