JACOB FATU ASCENDS, ASUKA MAKES AN AMAZING MOMENT, THE CROWD CAN REALLY ADD TO A SHOW AND MORE

I hope you enjoyed Backlash.  I thought it was a really solid offering and that it over delivered considering the online apathy I’ve been seeing.

I thought that  overall it was a really good show.  The Danhausen stuff was goofy, but they don’t book that for people like me.  As for online apathy, well, that seems like that’s par for the course.  I don’t pay attention.  Life’s too short to deal with miserable people.

1.  Rollins/Breakker:   I thought this match was tremendous, and it opened the show as hot as you could have wanted.  The result surprised me a little, as I felt Seth needed a bounce back win after losing at WM.  But, I’ve no issue with Breakker getting the nod.  His top rope Frankensteiner gave me pause though, as the first one looked really dicey.  I’ll take an educated guess that you enjoyed the match.

That first one WAS dicey!  When you do intricate moves, sometimes things go sideways.  I am glad neither got hurt.  I thought the match as great and Bron HAD to win.  Seth is a made man.  Bron is on the ascend.  A loss won’t hurt Seth but it would have hurt Bron.  I like the decision.

2.  Asuka/Iyo:   What a great match.  The crowd loved it and so did I.  What did you make of the post match?  I was expecting Asuka to cheap shot her, but it almost seemed like she was maybe leaving on a high note to take some time off.  Have you heard anything about her doing so?

The match was off the charts awesome.  They are both so, so good.  I too wondered if that was it for Asuka (as did a lot of people in the company).  She’s almost 45 years old, which is kind of mind boggling to me.  As I type this on Sunday morning I don’t know what the future holds for her but no matter what that is, I loved the emotion after the match.  It was as real as real can get.  It was awesome.

3.  Roman/Jacob:  Absolutely outstanding, and easily Jacob’s best match on the main roster.  I figured he would lose, but I think they made him look as strong as possible in defeat.  And the post match certainly indicated this ain’t over.  How did you feel about it?

I agree 100 percent.  This is the Jacob Fatu that I watched pre-WWE and the company finally tapped into his essence.  He kind of had to lose the match but as I said on Saturday, he came out way stronger than he went in to the match.  I look forward to seeing what they do with him.

4.  Live crowd:   I thought they were just great, very vocal and really into the show.  They added a lot to what seemed to be a lackluster offering on paper.  The dueling chants in the main event were really loud;  I hope management was listening to that.

The crowd was fantastic and absolutely added a lot to the show.

5.  Maybe it’s just me, but I feel the company often over delivers on shows that aren’t looking super strong or even missable.  I would imagine despite them saying they don’t, that they do in fact listen to online chatter.  More specifically, the chatter I’ve read has had a very “meh“ feeling from some fans regarding the show.  Do you think that when they do read it and maybe find some basic truth in it, that they decide “hey, let’s make this special and have people regret not watching“?

A LOT of people in that company listen to online chatter, for sure.  But, I don’t think anyone on the roster gives any more of themselves because the online fans aren’t excited for the show.  The wrestlers all give you what they have when they get in that ring, no matter what circumstances they are placed in (and I am looking at you Miz, nothing but respect for what you are doing for Danhausen).
