AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

AEW Dynamite is live from North Charleston Coliseum in Charlton, NC. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone.

The show starts with Tony Schiavone is in the ring and speaks about Ted Turner’s passing and his importance to wrestling over the years. He then brings out Sting. Sting says that Ted Turner loved wrestling and when the people in CNN would say he lost money, he would tell the wrestlers to do what they do because he had deep pockets, and he thanks Ted Turner. 

Sting then puts over Darby Allin in the main event. He then puts over Tony Khan. 

Tony Schiavone says that the sideplates on the TNT and TBS belts are replicas of the studios they used to run WCW in and we have the ten bell salute.

Jon Moxley (AEW Continental Champion) vs Juice Robinson

They go face to face and have words and then throw hands to start. They move to shoulder tackles and then go head-to-head. Mox gets a knee to the midsection and then they run the ropes with Juice getting a clothesline. Juice lays in chops and a headbutt. He whips Mo to the corner and Mox gets a boot up. Juice is able to catapult Mox over the top rope to the floor where Juice dives onto him.

Juice rolls Mox into the ring, Mox stomps on Juice’s hand when he rolls into the ring, and then snaps Juice’s fingers. Mox is busted open and he chops Juice into the corner. Juice reverses and lays in jobs. Mox rolls to the floor and Juice follows him and tosses him into the timekeeper’s table. Mox gets back in the ring and Juice follows him. Juice gets ten in the corner and then bites Mox. Juice gets a crossbody and and rains down blows on Mox as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox has grabbed an arm bar on the mat. He works Juice’s fingers and then pulls him up for a kick to the midsection. Mox lays in blows in the corner. Juice gets a leaping kick as Mox charges toward him and then lays in jobs on Mox. He forces Mox to the corner and whips Mox into the corner. Juice gets a splash and tries for another charge, but Mox is able to hit a cutter. 

Mox gives Juice nine in the corner and when Mox poses, Juice carries him out of the corner and gives him a power bomb. Juice puts Mox on top and gets a hurricanrana from the top, followed by a lariat for two. They go back and forth and when Mox goes for a sunset flip Juice sits down for two. Juice gets a full nelson slam for two. Juice lays in jabs and Mox bites Juice to stop the attack. Juice gets a big left hand and goes to the top. Juice gets a diving cross body from the top for two.

They trade headbutts in the middle of the ring and move to strikes and then Mox charges into the corner and Juice dodges it, making Mox hit the ringpost and rolls Mox up for two. Mox grabs a rear naked choke and turns it into a pile driver for two. Mox grabs a bulldog choke. Juice gets to his feet and Mox gets a headlock takeover. Juice can’t escape and finally goes out.

Winner: Jon Moxley

We then get video of a training session where Will Ospreay is training with the Death Riders. We see Wheeler Yuta doing sit ups on Ospreay’s back. Mox asks him if he has heard of the concept of Death Ground, where you stand on a piece of ground where you cannot leave. Mox says if they cannot get Ospreay’s neck right, he’s done. Sure, he could get paid, but he’s not like all the others, it’s a privilege to be where he is at. Mox says nothing else exists but what is right in front of him and they go back to training.

Dax Harwood vs Orange Cassidy - Double Jeopardy match

If Dax wins, they get a shot at the Trios championship, and if Cassidy wins, his team gets a shot at the tag team titles. 

Dax comes out with FTR, Tomasso Ciampa, Rippongi Vice, and the Dogs.  Cassidy comes out with Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, the Young Bucks, Christian Cage, and Adam Copeland.

They run the ropes and Dax gets a quick pin for two. They run the ropes again and Dax gets an arm drag and a slam on Cassidy. Cassidy gets a side headlock takedown. They work to their feet and Dax forces them to the corner. Dax tries for chops and Cassidy blocks it with his hands up. Cassidy gets an orange punch and Cassidy rolls to the floor. Cassidy joins him and everyone surrounds them. 

Cassidy tries for an orange punch, and Dax shoves him into the ringpost as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Dax and Cassidy are fighting on top and Cassidy knocks Dax down. Cassidy leaps down and Dax nails him in the midsection. They fight in the corner and Cassidy goes back to the top. Dax joins him and Cassidy lays in blows, gets a big bite. And then hits a diving DDT for two. Dax rolls to the floor and Cassidy dives, but is caught by Dax who slams his injured hand into the announce desk. 

Dax rolls Cassidy into the ring and mocks Cassidy’s pockets and soft kicks. Cassidy then does the same and hits a drop-kick. Cassidy gets a spinning DDT. Stokely gets on the apron and as Cassidy glares at him, Dax clotheslines him. Cassidy gets an O’Conner roll and Dax kicks him off into a cheap shot from David Finlay. 

Everyone at ringside starts arguing and Dax grabs the title belt. The ref takes it away from him and Cassidy gets a back body drop followed by a PK. Cassidy calls for the orange punch, but Dax avoids it. Dax goes for a slingshot power bomb and Cassidy holds onto the top rope. Dax tries again and gets a slingshot Liger bomb for two. 

Dax tries to pick up Cassidy who is dead weight. Dax is able to pick him up and Cassidy makes it into a Stundog millionaire and then an orange punch for two. Dax grabs a cross arm breaker and Cassidy is able to escape. Cassidy crosses Dax’s legs and rolls him up for the pin and the win.

Winner and getting a tag team title match for his team: Orange Cassidy

Everyone at ringside hits the ring and soon we get Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero left alone in the ring with Cassidy’s team. Rocky tries to work things out with Cope, and it does no good. Rocky and Trent take their beating. 

We get a hype video for Rush.

We get a recap of The Demand beating down Chris Jericho backstage last week.

Renee Paquette is with Chris Jericho and he is more than pissed off and the time for talking is down. He says it’s time to fight and he will be heading to the ring. He takes a mic to the ring and he demands Ricochet come to the ring and face him one to one. Ricochet comes out alone and Bishop Kaun and Toa Leona follow him. All three join Ricochet in the ring.

Ricochet says he did Jericho a favor telling him to leave and Ricochet heels the crowd and says he can beat Jericho out of the business right now. Ricochet says he has beaten Jericho already, so what does The Demand get out of it?  He then says he will use Jericho’s own match against him. A Stadium Stampede match.

Jericho says he accepts and he’ll find four partners, but if he can’t find them, he will take them all on by himself. He nails Ricochet and then tosses Kaun and Leona to the floor before hitting a Judas Effect on Ricochet. He goes for a lionsault, but Kaun and Leona stop him. This brings out the Hurt Syndicate. 

Renee is still in the back with Harley Cameron and Mina Shirakawa. Mina says they have a match to win, so stop looking out there and looks to her heart, and rips Harley’s shirt. Harley rips her shirt the rest of the way off and says the wrath is back.

Kazuchika Okada (AEW International Champion) vs Bryan Keith 

Don Callis joins commentary. 

They lock up and Keith grabs a side headlock. Okada has trouble trying to break the hold and instead shoves them into the rope for the Okada break. Keith fires in shots and then lays in kicks. Keith covers for one only. Keith gets a chop and a snap mare followed by a knee drop for two. Keith gets a question mark kick and Okada fights his way free. Okada puts Keith on top and then drop-kicks Keith to the floor. He follows Keith to the floor for a DDT and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Okada slams Keith and goes to the top. Keith avoids a leap from Okada and he grabs an arm bar. Keith nails Okada with a knee and both men are down. Keith lays in forearms and then gets a flying forearm off the ropes. Keith gets a DDT and covers for two. Okada rolls to the floor and Keith follows him. Keith is able to get a DDT on Okada on the floor.

Keith rolls Okada into the ring and Okada gets a big boot followed by a shoulder breaker. Okada hits a scoop slam and goes to the top for an elbow drop. Okada then flips us all the bird. Keith fights out of a rainmaker, but Okada gets a drop-kick. Keith gets a headbutt to stop the rainmaker. Keith holds onto the ropes when Okada goes for a drop-kick. They go back and forth and Keith gets a tiger driver for two.

Keith gets a high boot in the corner and then Okada powers out of the Diamond Dust with a slam and hits the rainmaker for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW International Champion: Kazuchika Okada.

Don Callis joins Okada in the ring and Okada says he already has the international title, unlike Takeshita, but he wants more. He is coming for the World Title, bitch.

Next is a hype video for Andrade El Idolo.

In the back Kevin Knight and Speedball MIke Bailey cut a promo that Knight will beat Darby Allin for the world title tonight. 

We get a promo from Samoa Joe trying to recruit Will Ospreay into the Opps. He says he will put out his hand one more time, but if Ospreay doesn't take it, he will extend a fist.

Harley Cameron and Mina Shirakawa vs Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida

Mina and Kris start and Kris gets a shoulder tackle right off the bat. Kris gets a scoop slam. Mina gets a series of kicks, but Kris gets a backslide for two. Mina gets a basement drop-kick. Shida tags herself in and Harley is tagged in. Shida tags out when Harley comes close to her. Kris gets a slam on Harley and then Harley gets a spinning head scissors takedown. Kris is whipped to the corner where Mina tags in. Mina gets a tornado over the top rope for two. 

Mina is able to grab Mina for a backbreaker and then gets a running knee in the corner. Shida tags in and works over Mina on the apron as we go to picture in picture. 

When we return to full screen, Kris suplexes Shida into Mina, who was draped across the middle turnbuckle. Mina and Shida go back and forth and Mina is able to get a rolling elbow strike and crawls to her corner to tag in Harley, as Kris is tagged in as well and Harley runs wild.

Harley gets a Busiako knee for a two count on Kris. Mina is tagged in and comes off the top with a drop-kick into Kris. Mina covers for two, broken up by Shida. Harley knocks Shida to the floor and Mina goes to the top. Kris meets Mina there and hits a suplex from the top and follows with a falcon arrow for two. Shida gets in the ring and is whipped across the ring. Shida goes for a running knee, but Mina dodges it and Shida hits Kris.

Harley tags in and gets several blows on Shida and then a swinging neckbreaker into jackknife pin for two. They reverse back and forth. On their feet they jockey for position and Harley gets backstabber. Kris gets a spinning kick on Harley and Shida gets a flacon arrow on Harley for the pin and the win.

Winners: Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida.

Kris glares at Shida and leaves the ring as Shida celebrates the win.

In the back, Swerve Strickland says he is after power. He says more power means more fear and more control as he says he is coming for Bandido.

Renee is with Bandido and Brody King, and Bandido says that Swerve is right, he is the most wanted and he is easy to find. Brody says it is one thing to mess with him, but if he messes with his friend, there will be hell to pay. 

Darby Allin (AEW World Champion) vs Kevin Knight 

They lock up and go to the corner, fight back to the middle of the ring and break. Darby grabs a waistlock and Knight is able to break free. Darby goes to shake hands and Knight knocks it away. They grab a Greco-Roman knuckle lock and Darby breaks it after forcing his way back up and they move to arm bars. Knight knocks Darby down and Knight calls for a handshake. Darby kicks the hand away.

They lock up and go to the ropes and Knight is able to get a side headlock takeover and holds onto the headlock. Darby works to his feet and they run the ropes. Darby gets a double leg takedown and a side headlock. Knight rolls back for two. Darby keeps the headlock. They work to their feet and then into the ropes for the break. They shove each other and then Darby throws chops. Knight gets a big kick and an uppercut. Darby gets a coffin splash from the middle rope for two.

They run the ropes and take each other down with a double clothesline. They crawl to opposite corners. Darby charges at Knight and goes to the top where Knight gets a hurricanrana followed by a drop-kick. Darby rolls to the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, both men are struggling to get up in the ring. Darby gets a series of slaps and then a destroyer for two. Knight goes to the floor and Darby dives into him and they both hit the announce desk. Darby grabs a chair and sets Knight in it. Darby goes to the top and Knight joins him there. Knight gets a hurricanrana from the apron to the floor. Knight climbs to the top of the announce table to pose. 

Knight puts Darby on top of the announce table and lays in blows. Knight goes to the ring and springboards off the top rope into Darby on the table. Knight limps up and rolls Darby into the ring. Knight gingerly goes to the top and leaps into a scorpion death lock from Darby. Knight gets to the ropes for the break. Darby goes to the top and goes for a coffin drop, but Knight got the knees up. Knight sells the knee as Darby crawls to the corner.

Knight catches Darby and puts him on top. Knight joins him there and they fight. Knight is knocked down. Knight sweeps Darby's legs and Darby is in the tree of woe. Knight hits a coast-to-coast drop-kick. Knight pulls Darby to the center and hits the UFO splash for two. Knight goes to the top again, and Darby crawls away. Knight comes down and Darby grabs him in a front guillotine choke. Knight gets to his feet but then drops. They go to the ropes and Darby drops Knight on the top rope. Darby gets a coffin drop from the top and then hits a second for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: Darby Allin.
