4/29 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

AEW Dynamite is live from Eaglebank Arena in Fairfax, VA. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone.

Kevin Knight (TNT Champion) vs MJF

MJF hits a kick rather than locking up and tossed Knight to the floor where he launches him over the steel steps. MJF bellows at him and then hits a power bomb on the barricade. MJF grabs a camera to mock Knight. Knight is rolled into the ring for a two count. He grabs a rear chinlock and Knight fights to his feet. Knight springboards off the second rope for a cross body. MJF drops Knight with a back elbow.

Knight escapes a backdrop. MJF also escapes and when Knight tries for another escape out the back, MJF turns it into a cutter for two. Knight rolls to the apron and MJF tires for a heat seeker and Knight escapes and gets a leaping DDT and both men are down. They both get to their feet and Knight swarms MJF into the ropes and then gets a drop-kick on MJF. Knight gets a running UFO splash for two.

Knight goes to the top and MJF slowly rolls out of the ring to avoid the splash. Knight then gets a leaping dive over the top rope. MJF is rolled into the ring and he keeps rolling to the other side and Knight dives onto him again. MJF is rolled into the ring and MJF rolls out again. Knight dives onto him again. MJF is rolled into the ring again and rolls out once again. Knight gets a springboard clothesline into MJF and rolls MJF into the ring. 

Knight goes to the top and MJF rolls to the side of the ring. Knight charges, and MJF avoids the charge and triers for a heat seeker, but Knight shoves him off. Knight gets a sunset flip and they trade two counts with reversals. MJF gets a cutter for two. MJF goes to the top and Knight follows him. MJF shoves him off.  Knight is able to get a hurricanrana, but Knight’s knee buckles and he can’t cover. Knight goes to the top again and MJF avoid the splash from the top. 

MJF tries for a figure four, but Knight kicks him off. Knight’s knee buckles. MJF is able to get a thrust kick and then a Panama sunrise for two as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, MJF has a half crab on Knight, and Knight rolls into it for the break. MJF comes off the top into a thrust kick and then goes back to the top. Knight hits the UFO splash from the top, and has to crawl to the cover for two. Knight sells the knee and both men struggle to get up. Both men are up and MJF gets a dragon screw into the ropes. MJF starts working over the leg. 

MJF lifts Knight up for a flapjack slam for two. MJF covers again for two and then again for one. MJF leaves the ring and grabs the title belt. He shoves the ref and the ref takes the ring. As the ref gets rid of the belt, MJF puts on the Dynamite Diamond ring. Knight hits a low blow and rolls up MJF for the pin and the win.

Winner: Kevin Knight

MJF hits a chop blow and calls for Knight to get up. Behind MJF, Darby Allin rappels down from the rafters and hits a scorpion death drop on MJF.

MJF grabs a mic and says he didn’t even care about the match. All he wants in a rematch. Darby says not until MJF puts something up for it. He then says if he survives the match with Brody King tonight, his match next week will be with Kevin Knight.

Brody King comes to the ring and he says Darby won’t survive tonight. He then tells Knight next week, he will be facing Brody King.

We then get a hype video for Darby vs Brody later tonight.

In the back, Renee Paquette is with Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. Cage has an injured arm and Renee asks if they accept the I Quit stipulation for their title match with FTR. Cage says he accepts. Cope says that was quick, given his history with I Quit matches in AEW. Cage says that he never said I Quit and storms off.

The Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor) vs the Already In The Ring Emily Jaye and Jordan Blade

We get to see the Birds take apart a tag team and win with the Two Birds, One Stone on Blade for the pin and the win.

Winners: The Brawling Birds

In the back, Thekla, and Skye Blue. Thekla says she would stop calling people dumb bitches if they’d quit being dumb bitches. Blue says black mist opened her eyes and maybe it will open Persephone’s eyes.

Kazuchika Okada (AEW International Champion) vs Ace Austin w/Juice Robinson

Don Callis joins commentary.

They lock up and Okada forces them to the corner and breaks with his tap to Ace’s chest, and then kicks him and stomps him down in the corner. Ace comes off the ropes into a drop toe hold and a cradle for two on Okada. Ace gets a drop-kick and lays in a kick to Okada’s back. Ace gets a squat into a Death Valley driver. Ace misses a charge in the corner, but gets an enziguiri and Okada goes to the floor. Ace dodges a trip from Okada and then gets a kick into Okada through the turnbuckles. 

Ace dives onto Okada, but misses and Okada hits a DDT on the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Okada gets a shoulder breaker on Ace. Okada gets a scoop slam and then goes to the top for an elbow drop. Okada then flips us all the bird. Okada sets for the rainmaker and Ace sends Okada to the floor. Okada catches Ace’s kick from the apron but Ace gets the kick on his second try. Ace then hits a Fosbury Flog over the top to the floor on Okada. 

Okada is rolled into the ring and Ace comes off the top and Okada dodges it. Ace gets a pair of kicks and a Russian leg sweep followed by a jumping leg drop. Ace gets a leaping elbow in the corner and then a leg drop from the top for two. Ace runs into a big boot and Okada gets a rollup for two. Okada gets a double axe handle and tries for a drop-kick, but Ace avoids it. Ace gets a rollup for two. 

Okada flips Ace to the apron. Ace springboards out of the turnbuckle but runs into a drop-kick from Okada. Ace dodges a rainmaker for a backslide for two. Okada gets a drop-kick and then a tombstone pile driver. Okada follows up with the Rainmaker, the pin, and the win.

Winner and still AEW International Champion: Kazuchika Okada

After the match, Konosuke Takeshita comes to the stage and points at Double of Nothing, where they will fight. 

We get the Bandido promo video again but this time it’s revealed to be Swerve Strickland and he picks up a Bandido poster which bursts into flame. . 

We get a video showing how the Death Riders train, and Will Ospreay shows up due to Jon Moxley’s offer on Collision. Ospreay tells Mox he will be going to Japan because he's got a big title match and he is all about loyalty. Mox tells Ospreay to drop everything in his heart and his heart. Mox says it’s all excess baggage and he doesn’t need it. He tells Ospreay he needs to drop his feelings about Mox, and when he makes a commitment, he sees it through to the end and he asks for the same in return.  Ospreay agrees.

Ospreay asks where the ring is. Mox says they don’t use a ring, they start from the ground up. 

Back at the arena, FTR comes to join commentary.

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage vs Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta)

Cage’s arm is wrapped due to a hairline fracture.

Rocky and Cage start the match. They lock up and go to arm bars. Cage forces them to the corner where they break clean. Rocky grabs an arm bar and starts working over Cage's arm. Rocky gets a drop-kick and poses for the crowd. Cage gets a dragon driver for two. Cope tags in and they both whip Ricky into their corner for two. 

Trent tags in and they run the ropes with Trent getting a leaping double knee driver for two. Trent works over Cope in the corner. Cope gets a big boot and then tags in Cage, who stands on Trent’s back in the ropes. They double-team Trent and send Trent into the barricade. As care starts to work over Trent, Cash Wheeler runs over to yell at him. When Cage grabs him, Trent whips Cage’s injured arm into the ringpost. 

Meanwhile, behind Stokely, we see the Conglomeration. Stokely takes a swing at him and Orange Cassidy nails him with a tub of popcorn. The Conglomeration and FTR fight at ringside. Trent and Rocky are working over Cage as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Cage is the babyface (?) in peril. Cage gets a spinning DDT on Rocky from the top and crawls to his corner. Both Trent and Cope tag in and Cope cleans house. Cope ends the sequence with an impaler and covers for two, and Cope avoids the breakup by Rocky. All four men fight in the ring and Cope gets a Code Red for two, broken up by Trent. Cage and Rocky fight to the floor. Trent avoids a spear and rolls up Cope with his feet on the ropes, but the ref sees it. 

Cope gets a pop-up and Cage hits a spear so that Cope can cover for the pin and the win.

Winners: Adam Copeland and Christina Cage

After the match, Cage pulls the crossbar from a chair when Cope uses as a bridle on Trent, and Cage orders him to say I Quit. Cage says he will never say I quit.

Backstage, Renee asks Chris Jericho about Ricochet beating him twice with the Ricosault. As he answers, the Demand attack and beat him down. 

Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne and Lena Kross) AEW Women's Tag Team Champions vs Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida

Shida and Kross start the match and Shida charges into Kross to start the match and Kross gets a kick in the corner to stop her attack. Kross tosses Shida across the ring. Bayne is tagged in and they drop Shida with a double shoulder tackle. Bayern messes up a fallaway slam and loses her balance. Shida shoves her into a corner and charges into her. Shida goes for ten in the corner but Bayne carries her to the corner. Bayne catches Shida mid-leap and then messes up a slam and Shida rolls to the floor.

Shida gets back in the ring and goes to Bayne’s eyes. Shida grabs the Kendo stick, but Kris stops her. They dodge Bayne’s charge and Shida suplexes Kris into Bayne in the corner. Bayne shoves Kris into her corner and tags in Kross. Kris escapes out the back of their attempt at a double suplex. Bayne is sent to the floor and Kris tries for a pile driver, but Kross sinks down to escape. Kris drops down for two and Kross kicks Kris into the ropes where Bayne nails her and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Kris has been the babyface in peril through the break. Kris escapes a double pickup and gets a double hurricanrana and crawls to her corner for the tag. Bayne stops her and lays in a kick and Kris gets a spinning lariat. Kross and Shida tag in and Shida runs wild. Kross gets a question mark kick on Shida and Shida tags in Kris.

Kris gets caught by Kross who shoots her into her own corner when Divine Dominion double-teams her. Bayne tags in and gets a cover for two. All four women are fighting in the ring. Kris comes off the top onto both Kross and Bayne with a 450 and covers Kross for two. Shida tags herself in and Shida gets a meteora from the top and then gets a falcon arrow for two.

Bayne stops the Katana from Shida. Kris is taken out with a drop-kick suplex combination from Divine Dominion, and then Shida is hit with a double team power slam from them for the pin and the win.

Winners and still AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions: Divine Dominion

Before the commercial break, this match was a mess. I am not sure why but people just couldn’t execute moves well.

In the back, Renee is with Don Callis and Andrade El Idolo, and MJF interrupts and says it’s Andrade’s fault Darby is champion, and after each of MJF’s statements, Andrade says “How do you know.” MJF goes for Andrade and Callis breaks them up and says he will make sure MJF gets the belt. 

Rush vs the Already In The Ring Steven Fuerte

It is a short matter of time before Steven gets the Bull’s Horns. 

Winner: Rush

After the match, Rush reminds us if you mess with the bull, you get the horns. 

Renee is with the Opps, and Samoa Joe says they plan to reassert their dominance in the weeks ahead and introduces each member of the team, Katsuyori Shibata, Anthony Bowens and Hook. He then says they will be working on acquisition, and they remind Will Ospreay that they had his back when the Death Riders went after him. 

In the back, Stokley says that if Orange Cassidy beats Dax Harwood next week he and a member of the Conglomeration get a tag team title shot, but if Dax wins, FTR and Tommaso Ciampa get a shot at the Trios championship.

Darby Allin (AEW World Champion) vs Brody King

They shake hands to start the match and Darby returns to his corner and gets a running drop-kick. King nails him and then grabs a rear chinlock. Darby goes to the corner for the break. Darby is tossed to the corner and Brody gets a cannonball. Darby goes to the top and is able to get a code red on Brody for two. 

Brody rolls to the floor and Darby dives into Brody and just bounces off. Brody lays in a chop on the floor and then puts Darby in a chair. Brody then charges, and Darby gets a chop block, sending Brody into the chair. Darby sets Brody in a chair and lays in blows. Darby goes to the top and gets a drop-kick front he top into Brody in the chair as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Brody chops Darby off the top rope to the floor. Brody then choke slams Darby on the apron and tears apart the announce table. He sets up the topping for the table on the rail, but Darby leaps onto Brody’s back and grabs a sleeper hold. Brody then slams backward into the table topper to escape the hold. Brody grabs Darby, who escapes and shoves Brody into the desk. Darby fights to the top of the table and Brody joins him. Brody chokes Darby from the table, feet dangling, but Darby escapes and hits a Code Red on the announce table. 

Darby gets to the knees, then into the ring and dives into Brody. Both men get to the ring and Darby goes to the top and Brody stops him and puts him in the tree of woe. Brody hits a cannonball in the corner into Darby and then hits a lariat for two. Brody turns Darby inside out with a lariat for two. 

Brody picks Darby up and Darby escapes and lays in chops in the corner. Brody tosses Darby over the top to the floor, hitting a cameraman on the way down. Brody grabs Darby and drags him with Darby pulling up the mat around the ring and then kicks his way free. Brody goes for a cannonball on the floor and Darby dodges it and Brody goes through the barricade. Darby pulls up more of the mat and goes to the top. Brody gets on the apron and Darby bites his hand. Brody tries to pull Darby into a suplex over the top rope, but Darby fights free, slips between Brody’s legs and gets a power bomb from the apron onto the concrete. Darby hits a coffin drop from the top. Darby rolls back in the ring and the ref counts to 9 before Brody rolls into the ring. Darby hits a pair of coffin drops from the top for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: Darby Allin.

They shake hands after the match and we are desperately out of time!
