Spotlight Match: Rain Conway vs AZ

Good little back and forth scrap. Conway with the rainmaker and he’s back in the win column again. 

We have four more matches in the Wrestling Open Championship tournament tonight. Let’s see if my bracket stays intact. Like last week. I’ll let you know how I do. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here with my hair cut way shorter than I like, wearing sunglasses inside because I forgot my normal glasses, housing a grilled cheese and a Coke….I look very professional. Lauren St. James is our announcer tonight. Let’s gooooo!

Match 1: Bryce Donovan vs Brando Lee (Opening Round Match)

This is a great opportunity for Lee to knock off a former Open champion in the first round. Bryce confidently tries to bully Lee but Brando is proving to be just as much a thorn in Donovan’s side as Ichiban is. Brando finally with a suicide dive, lands right into a chokeslam on the apron. Donovan laying in a slow impactful beatdown. Lee fires up and Bryce black hole slams him back to earth. Lee fires up again. Huge chop back into the mat. Lee backs Bryce into a corner with chops! Tornado ddt! Definitely not enough. Bryce walks into a trap, dropping a fist into a triangle choke…biiiig slam out of that! Lee kicks out! Bryce almost loses it all when he gets in ref Scott’s face but he counters Brando’s moonsault and hits a chokeslam for the win! Boooooo! Great match.

Did I pick this one right? YES.

Corey Duke is up on stage. He earned a bye in the first round by virtue of being the #1 Contender before Clancy went down hurt. Duke has words for both of his potential second round opponents. Dustin Waller was his first mentor and he ran out on Duke and the rest of his class of students. Bobby Orlando is worth Duke’s respect…and Duke wants to fight HIM. But either way, one of them with be in his sights next week. BANG.

Match 2: Brian Morris (w/ Bobby Casale) vs Anthony Greene (Opening Round Match)

The Stetson Ranch might be imploding but these two MIGHT be able to stay on the same track to keep Ranch’s name in the title picture. When it’s pure fairness, AG is on top. But Casale is on the outside and Greene has to keep an eye on his six constantly. Morris blocks So Much Prettier and lands an Impaler for two. Greene rolls to the floor and Bobby steps back, he’s NOT gonna help??? Morris gets in his face about it! The distraction effect has back fired! AG hits a cutter while Casale watches impassively…kickout! They collide on a clothesline and almost Pin each other?!? Morris tries another distraction….Bobby doesn’t attack AND throws Greene back in?!? Morris is FURIOUS. Bobby shoves him back..Greene almost gets the rollup but he shoots AG into Casale. They collide and Brian rolls him up for the three! Morris advances but the Ranch is even further down the drain. 

Did I pick this one right? YES.

Match 3: Kylie Alexa & Nixi XS vs Liviyah & Gabby Forza

After Thursday, Gabby wouldn’t mind taking a piece out of Kylie. Announcer Lauren St. James wouldn’t mind seeing this either after last week’s attack. After a brief thumping from Forza, Alexa and Nixi settle into a rhythm of beating up Liviyah. After a while, she escapes and Gnomie gets to destroying the mean girls again like a good friend would do. Nixi tries to catch her off guard with a meteora but Gabby catches her. Nixi slips out of her grip but runs straight into a big gnomeberg spear for the three!

Match 4: Vinny Scalise vs Ichiban

Vinny has been around FOREVER. He belongs in this mix. But I just don’t see him beating the FIRST Open champion. Vinny fighting like he has something to prove. Scalise applying some of that Whatever it Takes ethos as he tries to leave a beaten Ichi laying on the floor for the count out. After a long beating, Ichi finally starts to rally backs a somersault to the floor and a high cross body get him right back in the game. He calls for the Ichi Bankai…Vinny slips it but eats a 111. Scalise catches Ichiban again with a dvd neckbreaker for two! Back and forth big moves! Vinny hits a Spanish fly and a lungblower but can’t get it done! Vinny starts doing big man moves, throwing Ichi into the ropes to crash and burn. And then…boom. Ichiban hits a destroyer and a Ichi Bankai for the three! Awesome 12-min match.

Did I pick this one right? YES. 

Bear Bronson is up on the stage and he has that Opportunity Knocks contract. He now knows that he’s fighting Wonderboy Brian Morris next week. He invites Morris to bring the entire Stetson Ranch to help him survive. “It will take an army to stop Bear Bronson”. He sends a pep talk to Bobby Orlando, who he says never lets us down. He also has the news that Kylon King isn’t medically cleared to wrestle tonight so the main event? It’s a fair fight. One on one. The best man WILL win tonight. Bear looks forward to seeing our mom in the finals. Dustin is out first and he has a lot of jawing to do at Bear across the stage. 

Main Event: Dustin Waller vs Bobby Orlando

Bobby has gone through WARS for the Wrestling Open championship while he held the strap. Dustin Waller is a person who, love him or hate him, has been in the title picture for a LONNNNNG time. This collision lives up to the main event moniker as Orlando puts everything into putting Walker down. Crowd going full this is awesome after Bobby hits a dab elbow for a kickout and Dustin hits a moonsault for his own near fall. Bobby rallies up and is about to come off the top again….at that moment, MAX CASTER hits the ring and shoves Orlando off the top. Walker hits a brain buster and gets the three! The crowd is MAD at this. Boooooo!

Did I pick this one right? Unfortunately, yes…but this does mean I went 7-0 on the opening round. Let’s see if someone proves me wrong next week.

Max Caster steps on Bobby’s chest and poses as we go off the air. And then he punts Bobby Jr into the crowd. Wild finish to an awesome main.
