The Wrestling REVOLVER made their live debut on Youtube in the sold-out Calumet Center at the Montgomery Fairgrounds in Dayton, Ohio for "REVOLVER STRONG".
Joe Dombrowski and Bork Torkelson on commentary. Dombrowski's very good. Torkelson is very loud. Jessicka Havok sat in after a couple matches and she was fine. An almost calming influence over the normally excitable Torkelson.
"Firestarter" Jake Crist was victorious in the opener, beating Gringo Loco in a good, fast paced opener. Loco offered some words of respect...and then kicked Crist in the belly and powerbombed him. He then gives Dayton some heated words and walks off. Good turn.
There were some words WR Tag champions the Rascalz. I didn't know they were scheduled to appear and the audio quality was uncharacteristically poor for this show so I couldn't hear any of it.
The Outbreak (Jacksyn Crowley, Abel Booker with Barnabas the Bizarre) made their WR debut. They're doing a very graphic "infected/Walking Dead" gimmick and they're killing it. They appear for Juggalo Championship Wrestling and Game Changer Wrestling. They faced a top WR team in Tye or Die (KJ Reynolds, Ryan Matthias accompanied by the giant Amazanga) to fill the vacant Tag Titles (I guess that's what the Rascalz were saying). This was solid. Good action and both teams definitely played into the Outbreak's gimmick. With help from Amazanga, Tye or Die got the victory, winning their first ever WR Tag championship.
Alan Angels was scheduled to face TNA star Trey Miguel but Miguel was injured at a recent event and had to be pulled from the match so Angels threw out an Open Challenge. The challenge was answered by EC3, who recently returned to TNA and was making his REVOLVER debut (which is amazing). Nice match. EC3 is moving better than he was last year in the NWA and Angels looked as capable as ever. EC3 won with a 1 Percenter bulldog with Angels propped on the top rope and then a standard one.
WR's latest heel faction, The Algorhithm (Joe Alonzo, Crash, and Brent Oakley) defeated Alpha Sig (KJ Reynolds, Dick Meyers, Oakley's former teammates) and REVOLVER Remix champion BDE in a No Disqualification Elimination match (essentially a one ring, no cage War Games). Fun match. Crash hitting a powerbomb on both Reynolds and Meyers through a door for their eliminations was a great spot. BDE rallied to eliminate Crash and then Alonzo but was felled by an Oakley spinning back elbow to the back of the head for the final elimination.
Bigg Pound, who regained the WR 24/7 Scramble title by "beating" an injured Trey Miguel as he recuperated at home, successfully retained the title in a Scramble match over REVOLVER mainstays Jeffrey Johns, Amazanga, "Starman" Harley Rock, the returning Judge Joe Dredd (giving me Sami Callihan vibes), and debuting powerhouse Troy Parker.
Another fun match with Pound pinning Rock.
Rich Swann, who has been on one lately, had a very good match, a win over top WR heel Damien Chambers (with Kayla Kassidy). Good stuff though a little too much Kassidy, who gets a lot of offense on faces but still hasn't had match one in REVOLVER.
"The Southern Psycho" Mance Warner won the REVOLVER Championship, beating an old rival from Major League Wrestling (and current MLW World champion) "The Atrocity" Krule.
The kind of brutal spectacle you would expect from these two but with far less bloodshed than I expected, a pleasant surprise. Warner hits a nice looking tornado DDT through a propped up door for the win. I would have loved for them to use doors either here or the Elimination match but this is REVOLVER and their door budget is in the 4 figures or they have a sweet deal at the Lowe's.
Veteran Ganger faced death match veteran Alex Colon in his Retirement Death match. Light tubes and all kinds of blood and mayhem until Colon forces a submission with a Camel Clutch. They closed with Ganger showing appreciation for the support over the years of his career. I'm not big on bloodletting death matches but the rest was very good and entertaining.
