Why wasn't Carmelo Anthony on WrestleMania? Punishment??
Probably because he is a basketball player, not a wrestler. Seriously, I don’t have the answer but unless he was hurt, his omission was egregious to me. It seems like the company wanted to move Trick Williams to the next level, which is understandable, and Melo got caught with friendly fire.
Before she was pregnant, Alexa Bliss was routinely in the title picture. Since she has come back, she is doing nothing but losing. Do you ever see her back in title contention?
Nothing but losing? She was one half of the tag team champions for 100 days! That isn’t “nothing but losing”. Look at Bliss’ partner, Charlotte Flair. Is she doing nothing but losing too? The fact of the matter is they are both veterans on a loaded women’s roster. There are only two top championships.
So what is the reason for all these releases? Some of these people were actively on TV currently.
It came down to dollars and cents. TKO wanted to cut a specific amount of money, probably in preparation of their first quarter earnings release that drops in May. It was definitely surprising to me to see some of the people cut being people in storylines, like Kairi Sane, but TKO is about the bottom line, which is downright sad to me.
OK, so what exactly do you attribute the booing of Cody at Wrestlemania and the weeks leading up to it to? The audience seems universally against Pat McAfee, and Cody is on the crowds side regarding that & takes him out. Cody has also shown more of an edge in recent weeks instead of playing the sap babyface and trying to do everything by the book. Still, they boo. So what gives? (And to some extent this audience turnabout can be applied to Sami as well.)
I think you nailed the reason when you said, “Sap babyface”. Cody who was finishing the story, with the exception of the BS that they did when Rock tried to steal his Title match, was easy to cheer. He fought hard and did everything right. Then last year with John Cena, they painted him as a dope and the fans caught it, loud and clear. I think the fact that WWE forced him into the WWE Title match, despite losing both chances to get there, also rubbed fans the wrong way. I think he can get them back but it will take a tweaking of his character. I blame creative for the fans turning on him. They booked him badly.
