WRESTLEMANIA NIGHT ONE THOUGHTS

1.  Overall, Night 1 was a lunchbag letdown for me.  You?  At least Night 2 has a low bar to clear.

I didn’t hate the show overall but there were a few booking decisions early on that I didn’t like.  I wanted both AJ Lee and Stephanie Vaquer to hold their Titles a little longer, especially Vaquer because I thought it was important to keep her strong as she ascends.  Liv doesn’t need the belt at all.  I always hate when someone loses their Title(s) in a Four Way, but since they got Paige back (which still blows my mind, in many ways) I could see why they flipped the Titles.  But the main event?  The match was NOT GOOD AT ALL.  I was told Randy was hurt for real, and that has to be taken into account, but he was booked like the babyface, taking a beating, and he never really got a comeback. But, the booking at the end was what made it really bad.  Randy Orton’s actions made zero sense and it left me scratching my head.  Cody is saying that TKO is interfering in his matches for a reason and it seems like they have no idea that they suck at it.  But, they suck at it.

2.  The attendance announcement - I flat out don't believe them.  They've inflated numbers so many times over the years, and if they were going to do it again, this year seemed to be the one to do it since ticket sales were lagging.

It depends on how they accounted for the number (did they count empty suites, vendors, etc).  I do believe they were down more than 10,000 from last year, for sure.  And it’s on merit because of the ridiculous ticket prices.  Ticket brokers took a bath and I think going forward TKO will have a major issue with brokers no longer buying tickets because they aren’t in business to take losses, and they most certainly did this weekend.  It will be interesting to see how many people are at Raw tonight.

3.  Seth/Gunther stole the show for me, hands down.  Really good match, and the crowd reacted accordingly.  What was your favorite of the night?

That was absolutely the match of the night.  They killed it and Bron Breakker’s return was fantastic.  I loved Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu as well.  They were my favorite parts of the night.

4.  The main event, well, it stunk.  The crowd should have been cheering Cody to get his revenge against Orton, they weren't.  Pat gets RKO'd by Randy and Cody gets laid out after the bell.  Orton lost; if he had won and was putting another nail in the coffin, I'd have been fine with the post match punt kick.  But it just seemed like another desperate, ill-timed attempt to get Orton booed when the crowd just popped moments earlier for him laying out McAfart.  What a mess.

The match stunk and the booking at the finish was even worse.  They booked Orton as the babyface, getting his ass kicked the whole way, then he does what he does at the end.  WWE probably thought it would go off the air making people wonder why he did it.  I didn’t wonder.  It made no sense and there’s no good explanation for it, much like inserting McAfee into the angle to begin with.  The only potential positive is hopefully McAfee will live up to what he said and stay off of my TV.
