4/16 CMLL IN LAS VEGAS REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2026-04-17 20:22:00

The CMLL At Palms Slam Fest was held at the Palms Casino in  Las Vegas, NV. Our announce team is Johnny Loquasto & Jorge Rivera . There were massive issues hearing the commentary when the music was playing.

This is my first time watching a CMLL show. If I don’t know the wrestlers in a match, especially a multi=person match, this will be more of a blog than a play by play

Kemalito and Perico Zacarias vs. Chapulin and Tengu

This was an all “micros” match. Chapulin’s team is the heel and he gets the majority of the attacks as the match starts. Kemalito and Perico get very little offense and they are dominated for quite a long time. Chapulin removes his mask as they dominate the match. Tengu gorilla presses Kemalito, pressing him ten times before slamming him.

The tide turns when Perico dodges a drop kick and Tengu drop-kicks his partner. Kemalito goes to the top turnbuckle with help from the referee and leaps onto Tungu at ringside. Everyone returns to the ring. Tengu and Perico have back and forth with chops and from there Perico gets a series of big moves until Chapulin stops him with a boot to the back.

Kemalito tags in and gets a series of attacks on Chapulin. He continues his attacks on Tengu. Tengu cuts him off with a double underhook suplex for two. Kemalito gets a shoulder tackle with a senton and the ref counts three but then says Tengu got to the shoulder up. Chapulin tags in and Kemalito whips him from the ring and gets another splash on Tengu for two. Kemalito gets a Vader bomb off the second rope onto Tengu for the pin and the win.

Fans throw cash into the ring, which is tradition in CMLL.

Valentine Jr., Esfinge, and Xelhua vs Soberano Jr., Difunto, and Barboza - Two out of Three Falls

Soberano does the “too slow” for the handshake to start. We are told his team is the heel team, but the women love him. He starts with Xelhua and Soberano pulls Okada’s bit about threatening the strike but then tapping his opponent on the chase. They trade mat holds and Soberano working the leg. Xelhua is mostly working the mat style. They work a lot of the hold/counterhold in their sequence.

Valentine and Difunto tag in and they run the ropes. They work a lot of kicks and high flying moves. After valentine sends Difunto to the floor with a tejaris, everyone gets involved. Esfinge and Xelhua are knocked to the floor and Difunto’s teams work over Valentine.

Xelhua gets into the ring when Valentine is sent to the floor and they triple team him instead. They send Xelhua to the floor and it’s Esfinge’s turn to be triple teamed.

Difunto gets the first fall by pinning Esfinge

Difunto keeps working over Esfinge. His team keeps Esfinge’s team from helping on the outside. Xelhua takes Esfinge’s place and all three of Difunto’s team work him over in the ring. Esfinge takes Xelhua’s place and Valentine is tossed into the ring as well. Valentine is left in the ring to take the triple attacks.

Valentine’s team turns it around when Valentine is tossed into the air and comes down with a hurricanrana on Barboza. This starts his team hitting high flying moves on Difunto’s team. Esfinge gets a highly complicated submission where he grabs Barboza in a type of stretch muffler, but rolls forward instead of backward to have Barbosa bent over on the mat.

The Second Fall goes to Esfinge as Barbosa submits. The teams are now even.

Valentine’s team takes a pause before the match starts again. Barbosa and Soberano have an issue and then hug it out. The announcers say they are playing mind games.  Xelhua works by himself and sends each member of Difunto’s team to the floor. Esfinge tags in and Difunto acts scared. This doesn’t last long as Difunto’s team starts to triple team Esfinge. Esfinge takes them out one by one in the corners and then gets a cutter on Soberano for two.

Time for dives, dives, and more dives.

Valentine and Soberano fight in the ring and we then get different two man fights in the ring with Difunto’s team getting the two counts each time. Esfinge gets a two count before Barbosa tags in and gets a two count. Difunto’s team starts with double team attacks.

Valentine’s team starts with double team attacks. This leads to one team getting double team attacks on one person until a near fall, then the other team gets double team attacks on one person. Slowly, more of each team starts taking part in the fighting in the ring. We get LOTS of big spots and dives as well.

We return to Soberano and Valentine fighting one on one. Soberano gets a tombstone slam for the pin and the win on Valentine.

Winning the third fall and the match: Soberano Jr., Difunto, and Barboza

Everyone shakes hands to start the match. It’s a tornado match, so all four men are in the fight at all times. Lots of dodged kicks to start the match. We then move to two men in the ring at a time. Two times during this sequence, someone runs into a cameraman. Flip takes Capitan’s place and lots of leaps and kicks using the corners. Flip drop-kicks Dorada to the floor and then dives onto him.

Capitan dives as well. This leads to all four men getting into the ring and more double team offense. This leads to time for dives to the floor and high spots. Mascara and Neon get double team moves on Capitan before Flip hits the ring. They take turns dominating with big moves and near falls.

We move back to one on one action until all four men are down. Everyone pairs off for Neon and Dorada to get big moves and near falls. Flip and Capitan get big moves from the top for near falls.
