MAPLE LEAF PRO WRESTLING MULTIVERSE THOUGHTS FROM LAS VEGAS

By Mike Johnson on 2026-04-17 23:00:00

Welcome to my live, ongoing Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Multiverse thoughts from The Palms Theater in Las Vegas, streaming live on TrillerTV.  Cory Strode will be doing play by play tonight so I'm just going to give random thoughts.

Sam Leterna is our ring announcer.

Jonny Loquasto and So Cal Val are on the call.

Scott D'Amore came out and thanked everyone for spending their time and money with MLP tonight.  He said that if you support any professional wrestling, they are happy to have you here.  He said the last time he was here, they launched a little brand called TNA that is still doing well and he's happy there's more people making money in pro wrestling than ever before and he's excited to bring the first-ever American show from MLP this weekend.

Subculture vs. Vaughn Vertigo & Guy Cool

Vertigo and Flash Morgan Webster started out and battled bac and forth. Subculture double-teamed Vertigo and scored several two counts.  They nailed a double dropkick on Vaughn and Cool.    Webster was cut off and worked over for a long time before finally making the hot tag to Mark Andrews.  The crowd went nuts for the tag.   Lots of big tag team moves and near falls.  Webster hit a big dive.  Andrews nailed a cutter and came off the top with a beautiful shooting star press for the pin.

Your winners, Subculture!

This was a frenzied, fun tag match.

Steven Borden vs. Kiran Grey.

Big "Let's go Steve" chant.  This is my first time seeing Borden and man, he does look like his dad.  Grey was billed from Alaska, so I guess he's an angry trapper?  Nice leapfrog and armdrag from Borden. Borden went for a Stinger Splash but missed and bounced to the floor.  Grey worked him over.   Border avoided a charge.  Grey went to the ropes but was hit with a high dropkick.  Borden hit some nice offense including a Stinger Splash.  He nailed a powerbomb.

Your winner, Steven Borden!

Borden looked as you might expect, a young, athletic talent who needs reps.  He's got a good way to go but there's something there.

The Demand vs. Rich Swann & Michael Oku & Sidney Akeem.

A LOT of energy for Swann's team as they entered and came down the aisle dancing.  Ricochet wanted the music stopped.  Lots of fun interactions early here.  Triple dives.   The Demand began mauling Team Swann.  Swann was caught and worked over for a long time.  The Gates of Agony looked like total monster bullies here.  They nailed Akeem and set him up for Ricochet to hit big aerial maneuvers.  They went for the T-Gimmick but Oku assisted Akeem to turn it into a DDT.    Team Swann triple-team attacked Toa Liona.  He finally went down and they hit several aerial moves in attempts to pin him before Bishop Kaun broke it up.  They finally took out Akeem and scored the pin.

Your wnners, The Demand!

This was fun!  I always enjoy Oku.  The GOA have REALLY found themselves, Reggie was entertaining, Swann was great as always and Ricochet was fun as the villainous leader.

CMLL Championship Hechicero vs. Jonathan Gresham.

After all the frenzy of the last match, this was a complete change of pace with some really nice mat wrestling and grappling.  Gresham worked over Hechicero's leg with submissions.  They did some fun comedy stuff with Gresham's chops having no effect and some really nice back and forth near falls.  Hechicero finally scored the pin.  This was really something fun to watch and totally different from everything that came before it.  Gresham looked awesome which is amazing considering his health issues within the last year.  Hechicero's charisma is something live.

Paul Walter Hauser vs. QT Marshall in a Hardcore Match.

Hauser was billed as The Mercenary.  They ended up on the floor very quickly.  QT bridged a door across the rail to te ring.  He wanted to suplex Hauser through it but it was blocked,  Hauser dropped QT across the ring barried and drilled him with a chair.  Marshall caught him with a DDT on a chair as he returned to the ring,  Marshall pulled a barbed wire board out from under the ring.   He throttled a trash can at Hauser.  They battled for a suplex over the board but Hauser suplexed Marshall away from it.  Hauser placed the board in the corner of the ring.  Marshall tried to whip him into but Hauser saved himself.  Marshall charged.  Hauser moved and Marshall ran headfirst into the board.  Hauser nailed him with the PROGRESS title belt and a Singapore Cane. Marshall was busted open.  Hauser set up a table and dumps tacks atop of it.  They battled in the corner.  Marshall powerbombed Hauser through the table and the tacks for a two count.  Hauser finally won with a Sharpshooter.

Your winner, Paul Walter Hauser!

MLP Women's Champion Gisele Shaw vs. CMLL's Persephone vs. Shotzi Blackheart.

They added Killer Kelly as a surprise.  Lots of hard work here and near falls.  Persephone showed some nice power and charisma.  Shotzi took her insane bumps.  Gisele played diabolical heel.  Kelly began throwing supexes with reckless abandon.  Persephone drilled Kelly with a Razor's Edge but Gisele nailed her with a knee strike and picked the bones, scoring the pin.  This was really good.

Mistico & Mascara Dorada & The Amazing Red vs. The Rascalz.

Big reactions for everyone.  Dorada and Dez started out and athletically, it was fun as hell to watch.  The Rascalz triple-teamed Dorada for a long time.  This was just a crazy fun sprint when the babyfaces made the comeback.  They hit a triple dive, which Vegas loved.    Just an insane series of kicks, strikes and aerial combat.  Mistico finally forced Myron Reed to tap.  Really fun main!

Overall, a thumbs up night.
