PENTA DEFENDS WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE, NEW DEBUT, A CHALLENGE ISSUED AND MORE: 4/11 AAA LUCHA LIBRE REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2026-04-12 08:30:00

Welcome to this week's AAA Lucha Libre report, which aired live from Mexico City.

Your announcers are Corey Graves, Rey Mysterio and JBL.

Flammer and Las Tóxicas made their way into the arena.

El Grande Americano Original, El Hijo del Vikingo, and WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta do as well.

Las Tóxicas came to the ring to honor Flammer’s 973-day championship reign. Flammer entered and a video package aired highlighting her title run. Flammer took the mic and said that that neither the Earth nor the fans deserve her.  How about the heavens?  She said she did not recognize those who praised her, but they recognized her. She thanked foreign challengers who failed to defeat her and Mexican women she said she had humiliated and defeated. She declared herself the best luchadora in history and said her reign would not end.

The lights went out and a video aired showing a speeding car, an eye, and a license plate reading “La Catalina.” La Catalina, formerly of CMLL, appeared on the stage. She congratulated Flammer but stated that Flammer had never faced her. Catalina entered the ring, attacked Flammer, and shoved her into the cake and display. Las Tóxicas were cleared from the ring. Catalina posed with the Reina de Reinas Championship.

The broadcast cut back to the aftermath. Corey Graves, JBL, and Rey Mysterio were introduced as hosts.

Octagon Jr. vs. El Grande Americano Original

They battled back and forth.  Octagon Jr. hit a missile dropkick and followed with a dive to the outside. OG regained control on the floor and sent Octagon back into the ring, where he maintained offense and targeted the mask.  Octagon Jr. responded with an enzuigiri, and a corner kick for a two count. OG countered with knees, delivered a suplex in the corner, and went for a moonsault, which was avoided. OG applied an ankle lock and removed Octagon’s mask. Octagon submitted as he had to protect his identity.

Your winner, El Grande Americano Original!

The two El Grande Americanos brawled.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta vs. El Hijo del Vikingo (with Dorian Roldán)

Some nice chain wrestling and counters. Vikingo was caught during a dive attempt and thrown on the announcers' table.   Vikingo recovered and took control, tying Penta’s mask to the ropes and delivering strikes. He scored a two count and applied a camel clutch.  Penta fought back with kicks and a sling blade, followed by a headstand basement dropkick for a near fall. Vikingo hit a double stomp for a two count. The two exchanged strikes and near falls, including a powerbomb by Penta and a standing Spanish Fly and top rope double stomp by Vikingo.  Vikingo delivered a Poisonrana on the apron and a shooting star press to the floor.   During the match, the two El Grande Americanos continued brawling and appeared on the entrance ramp.  Back in the ring, Penta hit the Penta Driver for a near fall. Dorian Roldán interfered and was ejected. Vikingo attempted to use the championship belt, but Mini Vikingo intervened and struck Vikingo with it. Penta then hit the Canadian Destroyer and scored the pinfall.

Your winner and still WWE Intercontinental Champion, Penta!

This was a lot of fun.

El Grande Americano challenged Original to a mask vs. mask match as they kept brawling.  Well, you knew that was coming!
