I thought RAW was really solid, and WM, in my opinion, is shaping up really nicely.
I agree. The build this year has been strong. I am looking forward to the show, for sure.
Oba/Brock - You can’t get a better tease than what they did tonight. The fans were hot as hell for it, and I imagine it’ll be insane when they finally hook up. I will, however, predict a short match, though; much like Lesnar vs. Goldberg at WM. You?
That was a great, great angle. The fans can’t wait and that’s what it’s all about. I don’t see it going long either. Big dudes throwing bombs shouldn’t go a half hour.
They seem to be really leaning on the multi-person matches this year; women’s tag title, IC title, and I’d guess a triple threat with the Kabuki Warriors & Iyo Sky. And it looks like the possibility of a multi-man US title match as well. Too much?
Last year it was for sure, because it was lazy booking and they just went with multi-people matches to get people on the show. This year I am OK with it because they have so many singles matches that I am invested in that I am fine with some multi-people stuff to round out the card.
Gunther/Seth; obviously, this was probably plan E. I thought Corey Graves made a good call asking why. Did you find it surprising/refreshing that Graves saying that was pretty much the company acknowledging “Yeah, this is out of nowhere and we know that you know it is”?
I think Graves did exactly what a commentator should do in that situation, ask why. I hope they have something planned for next week to explain Gunther’s motivations. With Rey Mysterio and Bron Breakker hurt, I will give them slack here because both Rollins and Gunther should be on Mania. Now, they will be.
Now that Punk/Reigns went all in for the brawl, do you see Adam Pearce laying down a no-contact clause for the remaining shows before WM?
I think that would be the wise way to go. They have to “protect the main event” so a good way to do it is keep them from touching. They have touched enough already. Now they should make the fans wait for their match to see it again.
Any other match predictions that you see unfolding before WM to fill out the show?
I will throw Sami Zayn defending The US Title vs. Trick Williams AND Carmelo Hayes out there. Melo deserves to be on Mania.
