Wrestling Open RI “Milestone”
3/30/26 Cranston, RI
Spotlight Match: Rain Conway vs Erik Chacha
Rain starts off the bully but Chacha starts firing back with hard kicks and a flying knee puts Conway down. Solid open.
Our second year in Cranston starts tonight!
Match 1: Stetson Ranch (Bobby Casale & Brian Morris) vs Mythical Ones (Ichiban & Brando Lee)
Steven Stetson isn’t here but you can bet he’s watching tonight. He can’t like what he’s seeing at the start where Morris is just getting hammered. Casale finally makes the save and Ichiban eats a Midnight Special. Bobby accidentally superkicks Morris, which gets Lee in there but he’s just handing out Olympic slams at will. Morris back in the ring and berating Casale for kicking him in the head. Lee with the rollup knocks Casale out of the ring and pins Morris. The implosion of the Stetson Ranch continues.
Lee thanks everyone for being here and building this show for the last year. Brando won the very first match on the very first RI show. And now? He’s thinking about a shot at Fancy Ryan Clancy. Interesting.
Match 2: Notorious Mimi vs Liviyah
Mimi blindsided the WWE ID Women’s champion Laynie Luck last week. Tonight she faces Liviyah, who is returning after an unsuccessful run on the WWR+ Tournament for Tomorrow where she was attacked and potentially injured by Kylie Alexa (who IS here tonight). The match shows us how well Liv has bounced back from the attack….but yeah….Kylie attacks her after about five minutes of good match before Liv can put a bow on it. Liv wins by DQ but she’s left on the floor as Mimi and Kylie berates the crowd for constantly cheering someone who has disappointed us for a whole year. Good continuation of the angle.
Match 3: Bobby Orlando vs Dustin Waller
The man who is arguably the heart and soul of Open RI vs the man who constantly claims he built Wrestling Open. The “Speed Sensation” trying to keep it quick but Bobby is wise to this and VERY MUCH able to hang at this velocity. The fight immediately spills to the floors, where our mom beats on Waller from the crowd to the posts. Waller resorts to wrapping Bobby in the ring skirt and beating him down to get the advantage. A springboard forearm slows this down as Waller tries to grind this win out with rest holds. Bobby surviving the onslaught as Waller drags this out to the final minute. Orlando rallies but ref Scott gets turned around as Waller rakes the eyes, does the rollup and grabs the tights for the three in the final moments of the match. Booooooo!!! (Good Stuff!)
Match 4: Waves & Curls (Jaelyn Brandyn & Traevon Jordan) vs Shooter Boys (Anthony Vecchio & Aaron Ortiz)
This is gonna be a fun one. Cranston loves the Shooter Boys and W&C are the party kings wherever they go. Both teams looked excited for this contest, as it should be. Jordan ends up getting swarmed by the boys and having to get out to Jaelyn…who suffers the same fate. Are the Shooter Boys finally getting their stride back? Brandyn says no and gets Traevon in there to bowl this kid over. An atomic drop leads to a slingshot lariat on Vecchio and the tide has clearly TURNED. Ortiz REACHING for that tag but Vecchio is kept away effectively until a kick rocks Traevon and we’re off to the races. Tornado ddt to the big man. Brian Buster to Jaelyn! Kick out! Bradyn almost traps in a jackknife but Jordan makes the save as we hit the 9 minute mark again! Ortiz and Traevon trading big shot! Ortiz blocks the chokeslam and sends Jordan to the floor. They go for the finish but the time limit expires! Hell of a time limit draw. The crowd wants another minute but Waves & Curls says no. Shooter Boys proved over the last year that they are not just good, they’re great. And maybe the end result is a little different if they run it back. But first? Shooter Boys needs to deal with The Verdict…and Traevon offers their assistance if they need backup. This was delightful.
Rich Palladino brings out the number one contender for the Wrestling Open championship: COREY DUKE! Cranston loves them some Mr. Saturday Night. Duke just wants to know why Fancy Ryan Clancy isn’t putting the title in the line against him. Here comes the champ. Clancy laughs at the thought that he might be afraid of Corey Duke. He says that he should be medically cleared to fight in a couple of weeks….and he plans to steamroll Duke upon his return. He offers a “best of luck” handshake and slaps his challenger instead . He looks to walk away from the receipt but Ichiban and Brando Lee appear behind him and they send him back to get decked. Clancy runs out the loser door.
Main Event: Big Business (Brad Hollister & Love Doug)(c) vs The Verdict (Bryce Donovan & Vinny Scalise) (for the Wrestling Open Tag Team Championships)
The Verdict are well hated here but they think of Cranston as the show they run…so despite all booing to the contrary, they plan to bring the Open tag titles back home to the RI show. This match is a banger. The Verdict uses their “Whatever It Takes” ethos to stay on top of the champs for a lot of this match’s first ten minutes. But Doug and Bacon keeps finding ways out of trouble and enduring through this contest. A late match Business is Booming is cut off into a superkick black hole slam. bacon kicks out and starts serving up Germans! Doug eats a slingshot ddt…big smooch to Vinny and a slice of love connects! Bryce breaks it up into a brawl with Bacon. They cross body collide. Mark Sterling causing a distraction as Vinny blasts Doug with his arm brace…Doug kicks out! Sterling making more of a scene and the Shooter Boys come down to cut this out. Bryce goes for a shot with the brace but Bacon spears him! Business is Booming to Vinny for the win!!!!
Shooter Boys in the ring to celebrate Big Business’ win. Verdict hangs in the entryway and tells everyone that we’re alllllll sick of the Verdict. So next week, Sterling AND the Verdict get to fight the Shooter Boys and a partner of their choosing. Sterling says he tore his bicep again. However, he’ll get Max Caster in here next week to fight them. Vecchio says THAT’S Cool. Their partner? Their trainer and someone who knows ALLLLLLLL these guys very well. TNA’s own Brian Myers!
