As PWInsider.com noted earlier, WWE star Ted DiBiase Jr. was found not guilty on charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, theft, and money laundering.
“While I remain confident in our case, I respect the jury’s verdict,” U.S. Attorney Baxter Kruger told media outlets after the verdict. “I commend the prosecution team for their diligent efforts.”
“While I’m disappointed in the result of the trial, nothing changes the fact that seven people have already pleaded guilty to state or federal charges because of the welfare scandal,” stated State Auditor Shad White, told Mississippi Voice. “My hope now is that the state’s lawyers will be able to recover as much of the misspent money as possible in civil court so hard-working taxpayers can see some accountability for what happened here.”
