STEAMBOAT'S SHORT IC TITLE REIGN, WRESTLEMANIA IN SAUDI, FINLAY AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2026-03-19 10:00:00

A follow up to your question about Wrestlemania in Saudi Arabia.  Of course, they'll want to go ahead with the show as planned, and a lot can change, for better or worse, before next year.  But at some point, do you see them quietly booking a backup venue?  And what would it be?  I imagine a large city that has local fans but also is easy for travelers to get to, like LA, NYC, or London.  Or would they just default back to Las Vegas for a third straight year?  And a connected question to that, do you know if they've ever booked a backup venue in the past?  I know WM7 shifted locations, but that was changed well in advance of the event

As of this writing, they have over a year until Wrestlemania 2027.   That said, we are told they have contigency plans in place for all of their Middle East events.  We just have to wait and see if they need to enact them.  My feeling is that if they have to pivot, they can attempt Indianapolis or New Orleans since they owe those markets Wrestlemanias.

Where is Santana Garrett now, and how did she not ever become a more recognizable name? I know she wrestled in TNA as Brittany, and was in NXT, but I really thought she has all the talent to have made a bigger impact.

No idea beyond she's been working the WOW - Women of Wrestling series, so it may be she's contractually locked in there.  I think it comes down to there wasn't a booker who saw something in her and wanted to push her to the moon when she was used by WWE or TNA.

Whatever happened to Dave Finlay?

He coaches at the WWE PC.

What was the story with Ricky Steamboat In the late 80s in WWF? Why did he have the short IC title reign and why didn't/couldn't they elevate him when NWA did it so easily?

He asked to take time off, which led to the company immediately killing his title reign.

Had Brian Pillman had never been in that car accident and was still alive today were do you think his career would be now?

Assuming he would have signed with WWE even without being in the wreck, I think Pillman would have walked out with Bret Hart after the Montreal Screwjob if he could have.  Had WWE blocked him from leaving, as they did Owen Hart, he would have ended up a great heel foil for Steve Austin, the Piper to his Hulk Hogan, so to speak.  I'd like to think he'd have retired and worked as a Producer or training talents.  Sadly, none of that was to be.

Who owns the current day version of Memphis Wrestling?

Dustin Starr.
