Welcome to this week's TNA Thusday Night Impact TV report!
Our announcers are Tom Hannifan and Matt Rehwoldt.
TNA Tag Team Champions Matt & Jeff Hardy vs. Saint and Sinner
Matt Hardy started the match controlling Travis Williams with a wristlock before smashing his face into the turnbuckles. Jeff Hardy tagged in and connected with Poetry in Motion for a near fall. Matt attempted a crucifix powerbomb, but Judas Icarus pulled Williams free and launched him onto Matt. Jeff fought back with a dropkick and elbow drop to Icarus for two. Jeff attempted the Twist of Fate, but Icarus countered and delivered a Frog Splash, only for Matt to break up the pin. Matt then hit a Side Effect. Jeff went for the Swanton Bomb but Icarus slipped through the ropes and tripped him. Icarus tried another Frog Splash, but Jeff avoided it and locked in the Spinal Destination, forcing Icarus to tap out.
Your winners, The Hardys!
Good, solid opening bout. Sinner and Saint just hanging for a few with the Hardys gives the appearance that they are competitive and on the way up in the future. A lot of what TNA does now is about building future potential stars and this was a good example of that. The Hardys were presented as living legends, which in a lot of ways, to a lot of fans, they are.
Gia Miller interviewed The Elegance Brand. Their Personal Concierge told Mickie James to stay out of their business and announced that Mr. Elegance will make his in-ring debut next week. Heather mocked returning Knockouts, prompting Goldylocks to appear (ARE YOU KIDDING ME? OF EVERYONE TO RETURN?) and defended the women who paved the way in the division. She warned them to show respect before teasing she was going to bring others from the past to take care of them. If this leads to the return of Awesome Kong wiping them all out, I'm all for it.
Indi Hartwell vs. Kelsey Heather
Indi Hartwell controlled early with a shoulder block. Heather attempted a Space Rolling Elbow but Hartwell avoided it. Heather responded with a split-legged bulldog and dropkick before missing a second-rope moonsault. Hartwell capitalized with a Spinebuster and finished the match with the Hurts Donut. Heather's face when she was caught in the finisher was an awesome "Oh crap" look. Great facial expression.
Your winner, Indi Hartwell!
Hartwell took the ring mic and challenged Arianna Grace to face her. Grace came to the ring and told Hartwell she’d have to get in line. Hartwell fired back, saying she kicks down doors rather than waiting for opportunities, and vowed to become champion.
Backstage, The Hardys thanked The Righteous for Vincent's sacrifice against The System. Vincent warned them that The System would be coming after them. The Nemeths showed up and were arrogant jerks with Ryan bragging about his win over Jeff.
BDE, Rich Swann & Trey Miguel vs. Order 4's Jason Hotch, John Skyler & Mustafa Ali with Special Agent 0 & Tasha Steelz
They all brawl immediately. Mustafa Ali spiked Rich Swann with a draping DDT from the apron to the floor. The Great Hands chokeslammed Trey Miguel back-first onto the edge of the apron. Before the commercial break, Order 4 gained control with a rolling neckbreaker combination. After the break, Swann planted Ali with a headscissors spike for two. BDE and Miguel took out the opposition with simultaneous suicide dives. Swann landed a Frog Splash on Ali for another near fall. Miguel delivered a slingblade backbreaker on Ali followed by a double stomp on Skyler. Tasha Steelz attempted to interfere but Jada Stone pulled her down and chased her into the crowd with a dive. Miguel then finished the match with Shellshocked followed by the Lightning Spiral on Skyler.
Your winners, Trey Miguel & Rich Swann & BDE!
Entertaining as hell bout. Skyler is the glue that keeps a lot of stuff together but doesn't get praised for it anyone near as much as he deserves. Tasha is the most underrated talent in the entire company. BDE has ways to go but shows some real potential. it will take time as he matures but he's got a likable quality. Hotch is going to be a breakout talent in the years to go. Swann is so great. Trey Miguel is wrestling with a chip on his shoulder. Ali's work is great. So much fun here.
The Injury Report: The Home Town Man is cleared. Leon Slater is out of action after last week's piledriver from Eric Young. Cedric Alexander and Moose are cleared for tonight's Street Fight.
TNA Champion Mike Santana is ready for a fight. Daria Rae warns him if he touches Steve Maclin ahead of the Sacrifice PPV, he'll be stripped of the title. Santino Marella tries to one up her by saying if Maclin gets physical, he's fired (AGAIN?) and deleted from the TNA archives. Maclin faces off with Santana but they don't touch.
Backstage, Arianna Grace complained to Stacks about being called out by Indi Hartwell. They encountered Indi as they walked through the back. Stacks distracted Indi, allowing Grace to attack her. Santino Marella threw Grace and Stacks out of the building.
Steve Maclin came out for his promo. He's supposed to apologize for striking Tom Hannifan and mocked him while doing so, saying he's just someone who sits behind a desk. He bragged about being a former TNA Champion and is now the most talked about competitor in the company despite just returning. He praised Daria Rae and knocked Santino as a leader. He said Mike Santana doesn't understand death the way that Maclin does, since Maclin has been to war. He said Santana talks about his father and said Santana is lucky he had the life he had with his father, as Maclin doesn't even remember his own father. He said the TNA title represents opportunity and he's going to take it.
They noted members of Tulsa King were in the crowd. That show is off the charts great.
Elijah vs. AJ Francis
Elijah started fast by clotheslining AJ Francis over the top rope and immediately following him to the outside with a springboard plancha. Back on offense, Elijah connected with a drive-by knee strike and taunted Frankie Kazarian at ringside. Once the action returned to the ring, Francis fought back with a pop-up punch that Tom Hannifan referred to as “The Right Hand of God.” Francis followed it with a running knee in the corner and attempted a powerbomb, but Elijah blocked it and countered with a strong Alabama Slam, a highlight moment in the match. Elijah continued building momentum and caught Francis with a high knee for a near fall. He climbed to the top rope, but Francis intercepted him. Francis tried for a superplex, but Elijah fought free. In a nice sequence, Francis carried Elijah toward the ropes where Elijah turned the momentum into a springboard destroyer, nearly scoring the victory. Francis rolled to the outside to recover and grab a drink. Elijah followed him, landed a superkick, grabbed a beverage from the commentary desk, and threw it into Kazarian’s face. Kazarian interfered, grabbing him and snapping his neck across the top rope. The distraction allowed Francis to capitalize with a chokeslam, then hitting the Down Payment for the victory.
Your winner, AJ Francis!
This was solid.
Home Town Man ran in wielding a lead pipe to stop a post-match attack.
Backstage, Eric Young said X-Division Champion Leon Slater was a fraud and promised to take the title from him at Sacrifice.
Rosemary zapped into Johnny Swinger's casino. This was hilarious with Swinger referring to everyone as an 80s wrestler. The idea was that Rosemary acquired the deed to his greed and then handed it over to the returning Allie, who was a dead spirit no one but Rosemary can see. The idea is Rosemary is going to resurrect her. During all this, Rosemary gave John E. Bravo his divorce papers. I love that they cared enough to close that story out. In the middle of this, JDC was linked with Sinner and Saint.
Brad Attitude vs. Ricky Sosa
Ricky Sosa looked damn good in his debut. He nailed a running uppercut in the corner followed by a Pele Kick. He climbed to the top rope and hit a moonsault for a near fall. Sosa later hit a tope suicida to the outside. Brad Attitude attempted a springboard cutter, but Sosa caught him and delivered the Blue Thunder Bang for the victory. Strong first appearance. The crowd was very much behind Sosa.
Your winner, Ricky Sosa!
Cedric Alexander vs. Moose - Atlanta Street Fight
Moose blasted Cedric Alexander with a pump kick early on. Moose attempted to suplex Alexander on the floor, but Alexander countered and delivered a suplex of his own outside the ring. Both men grabbed steel chairs and swung them at the same time before Moose cracked Alexander across the back with his chair as the match went to commercial. After the break, Alexander climbed to the top rope, but Moose caught him and delivered a powerbomb for a near fall. The fight spilled outside again where Moose attempted a Spear, but Alexander dodged and Moose crashed into the steel steps. Alexander retaliated by smashing a cookie sheet across Moose’s back. He then grabbed a steel chair and prepared to strike Moose on the head while he was draped on the steel steps, but Alisha Edwards intervened. Alexander shoved her with his finger, prompting Alisha to slap him. Moose capitalized by powerbombing Alexander onto the ring apron. Alexander countered Moose’s attempt at another apron powerbomb with a low blow, then powerbombed Moose onto a trash can on the floor. Alexander pulled multiple steel chairs from under the ring and set them up before climbing the top rope, but Moose intercepted him and hit a superplex onto the pile of chairs for a close two-count. Alexander responded with a Spanish Fly for another near fall. He attempted a springboard attack, but Moose cut him off with a mid-air Spear. Moose then pulled a table from under the ring and set it up in the corner. He charged for a Spear, but Alexander moved and Moose crashed into the setup. Alexander followed with a Brainbuster, but Moose kicked out at one. In the end, Moose recovered and delivered a devastating Spear through the table for the pin,
Your winner, Moose!
Real fun and entertaining main event. Alexander has always been a hell of a hand.
Another solid, good episode.
