Uemura forces Nagai to a Hammerlock Submission.
2 - Boltin Oleg and Tomoaki Honma vs. HENARE and Great O-Khan
O-Khan forces Honma to tap out to a Domination Claw.
3 - Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI and Tatsuya Matsumoto vs. Jake Lee, Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young
Akira enters the ringside area wearing his mask and he terrorizes fans and messes with Gedo on Japanese commentary.
Jake Lee has face paint on his right eye. The commentators call him the Silent Jester. His character may be evolving over the New Japan Cup.
Young pins Matsumoto after a Hammerlock DDT.
Jake Lee and Goto brawl after the match. Akira messes with Gedo again after the match. Gedo tells Akira and Young that Robbie X and Ishimori will kill them and says "Shut the F**k Up". Hilarious.
4 - Hartley Jackson and Kosei Fujita vs. Callum Newman and Zane Jay
Jackson pins Jay after a Jagged Edge..
5 - Satoshi Kojima, Aaron Wolf and Toru Yano vs. Ren Narita, Yujiro Takahashi and Dick Togo
Yano pins Togo with Cradle Pin.
6 - Shingo Takagi and Yota Tsuji vs. Don Fale and Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Takagi pins Kanemaru after a Burning Dragon.
NEW JAPAN CUP 2026 Matches (Round 1):
7 - Shota Umino vs. Chase Owens
Good match as they traded stiff shots on the floor and on the apron. Dick Togo and Yujiro Takahashi interfere, giving Owens the advantage. Owens with two C-Triggers. Two count. Owens with a low blow and another C-Trigger. Two count. Umino reverses out of the Last Testament and hits a lariat. Togo tries to choke out Umino but Umino gets out of the choke and sends him to the floor. Umino hits a lariat and follows with The Last Chapter.
Umino pins Owens.
Shota Umino advances in the tournament to face Yujiro Takahashi.
This was a good win for Umino. He fought off three men and got the pinfall win. He bowed to the crowd after the match and thanked fans at ringside. This was a good way to build up his babyface status with the fans, by getting good hard fought wins.
8 - Yuto-Ice vs. Ryohei Oiwa
Another good match. This was a slug fest. When Oiwa tried to wrestle, Yuto brought it back to a brawling style. Oiwa went for The Grip but Yuto caught him with a knee. They traded reversals and Oiwa rolled him into a modified cradle pin.
Oiwa pins Yuto.
Ryohei Oiwa advances to face Zack Sabre Jr.
Round Two of the New Japan Cup 2026 begins this week with the following matches:
