3/26 HOUSE OF GLORY IN CHICAGO REPORT

By David Houston on 2026-03-07 17:27:00

House of Glory was back in Chicago at the sold out Logan Square Auditorium for HOG Turf Wars live on TrillerTV+, their second event in 2 weeks. That kind of pace is always good for a company, the talent and the industry.

3 big title matches and another show with a solid dose of AEW talent on the event.

Myron Reed of the Rascalz (with Killer Kelly) got a win over HoG veteran, "Cash Flo" Ken Broadway in an athletic opener.  Reed, a fan favorite in AEW and during his tenure in TNA last year, has worked heel the last two years on the independent scene and went back to that as the match went some distance, getting the win with the 450 springboard splash after an eye rake.

Cruiserweight champion "The Infamous" Darren Richardson defeated JJ Doze in a non title match, Doze's first singles match in HoG and easily his best in ring performance, not having to share the spotlight with a half dozen other young prospects.
Richardson is a great young heel and made sure anyone unfamiliar understood he was the villain with a "Chicago Sucks" shirt.  Good match with only one noticeable hiccup late.  For the second match, one wrestler dove on another and they fell on some steps that lead from a stage to the ring. That is horrifying every single time. They should stop that.

Shotzi Blackheart retained the Women's title against the challenge of 2 time former TNA Knockouts World tag champion Killer Kelly. I've not been in awe of Blackheart's matches since leaving WWE but this one was pretty good. Kelly also seemed inspired in there.b Some brawling into the crowd that went out of camera view. Didn't like that but otherwise a fine match.   Great finish with Blackheart avoiding interference by Myron Reed and landing her top rope senton splash on both of them to pin Kelly.

Chicago hero and former Cruiserweight champion Gringo Loco beat another Chicago native, veteran wrestler Trik Davis.V This was a well worked match but it went on too long, even for wrestlers familiar to the Chicago crowd.  It did a good job of letting Davis look credible but going over 16 min, the second longest match on the show, was a bit much.

"The Main One" Zilla Fatu overcame his stiffest challenge for his Crown Jewel title, former WWE United States champion and current Major League Wrestling World tag champion Bishop Dyer (the former Baron Corbin).  Good Hoss Fight.  Seeing Dyer made me think he would have been a true dominant force in previous generations.

AEW stars and HoG alum Private Party (Isaiah Kassidy, Marq Quen) got the victory over Bang and Matthews--Davey Bang and August Matthews.
PP has really filled out since their absence from AEW tv over the past year but Davey Bang has also been putting work in the weight room.
Not the high flying spotfest as I expected and I appreciated it. BVery good tag match with both teams being fan favorites.  This win has to put the Party in line for a shot at the HoG Tag Titles, held by Matt and Jeff Hardy.  Hugs of Honor adhered.

"The Root of All Evil" Charles Mason faced a familiar foe in defense of the House of Glory Heavyweight title in "Bounty Hunter" Bryan Keith, who challenged him for the Crown Jewel title back in 2023. Keith was answering an Open Challenge.
Strong main event with a clever heel finish.
Mason dove off the top rope onto Keith, who was on the floor.  He immediately clutched at his ankle and after rolling into the ring, said he couldn't continue so referee Nick Shin called the match a No Contest, to the displeasure of the live audience.
Keith accepted the verdict and warned Mason he would be back.  Mason answered with a low blow and rolling Death Valley Driver, followed by jumping jacks.  Slick.  To me, the ref stopping the bout because the champion can't continue means new champion but HoG is based in NYC and for as long as I can recall, even WWWF champs like Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales had matches stopped due to their bleeding too much or injury and didn't lose the title. I guess it's a regional thing. I'm from the South.

Very good show for HoG with a minimum of wild booking decisions or tricky finishes so the finish for the main event wasn't overkill.
