Beyond Wrestling “Ballroom Blitz”
2/27/26 Cranston, RI
Big Business comes out early to celebrate their big victory against the Stetson Ranch. Bacon ain’t here and BB doesn’t have a match so TJ wants 4 opponents to come out. OH MY GOD. IT’S BROTHER GREATNESS AND THE VIBE! But they need a 4th? It’s Rain Conway. He’s dressed like Mani…”ABSOLUTELY NOT” says Greatness. They need a GREAT partner. Angel Ortiz pops through, sends Rain packing and we have a match!
Spotlight Match 1: Big Business (TJ Crawford, Love Doug, Victor Chase & Julio Cruz) vs The Vibe (Brother Greatness, Sammy Diaz, Mani Ariez) and Angel Ortiz
This is a BANANAS opening. Everyone in the ring parties for Ortiz and “Smooth Operator”. Brother Greatness starts the match against TJ and this is the first time Ive seen him work in a WHILE. Both teams just go for it. The Vibe stands tall for a while, while Doug withstands the assault. Big Business has a long bit of offense against a resilient Brother Greatness. Chase gets isolated after the Funky Monkey gags in but he lives through a bunch of dives. Ortiz gets the lights turned out but Sammy makes the save! Big brawl between both teams! Ortiz and Greatness hit a powerbomb top rope elbow combo on TJ! Brick with a double worlds strongest slam on Greatness! It’s just wild all around! Doug with a double rebound on the Vibe! It’s down to Greatness and Doug trading pin attempts and Doug finally locks the legs, gets the leverage and the three! This owned!
Spotlight Match 2: The Residency (RJ Rude, Rex Lawless & Nick Robles) vs Bombs Over Beyond (Jake Gray, Erik Chacha & RSP)
Jake and Chacha are always going to be fighting from underneath but they have a huge weapon in RSP in their corner. Of course, the Residency cheats like mad and takes a lot of liberties with Chacha. That said, gray is super motivated to get his hands on Rex, the man that really put his name on the scene’s radar last summer. RSP starts running wild. BoB with the Megazord! Lawless topples their structure over! The Residency triples up on Rocky but Jake makes the save! RSP brings Chacha to the top and he brings them both down in a legdrop splash on Rex for the win! This was a fun match to wrap up our Spotlight segment!
Match 1: Jonathan Gresham vs A-Game Joseph Alexander
The crowd is HOT for this and clearly split. We settle on “both these guys”. This starts friendly but these two are full on competitors and this gets serious QUICK. Gresham begins to take the arm apart and forcing AGame to dig deep. Gresham getting too aggressive and Ref Gina has to get in his face over it. Alexander trying to hang in Gresham’s grappling world but he’s getting outworked at every turn. Alexander turns to strikes and tosses and that is yielding better results. This is a pure WAR of strikes and holds. A-Game fights through the pain, taking Gresham to the limit. But a trio of hotly contested german suplexes finally puts Alexander down for the three. This ruled.
Gresham on the mic. He puts A-Game over big as one of the prime examples of the kind of hungry independent wrestlers that he wants to fight in the future. Much respect all around on this. Crowd got to death on this.
Match 2: Notorious Mimi vs Kylie Alexa
Kylie attacks Mimi from behind and tears up her angel wings! Mimi starts getting her shots in. Though I can’t cheer Mimi, not how she’s acted in Cranston in recent months! So as it turns out, there’s a contingent of people who have wanted to cheer for Kylie. These two get fueled up and have a FIGHT. Kylie managed to slip free of finish after finish and puts Mimi down with a basement dropkick into the rope for the three. No one knows how to handle our joy.
Match 3: Eye Black Jack vs Alex Reynolds
If Reynolds is the Lord Farquaad of indie wrestling, we are cheering for the green-trunked Jack like he’s Shrek. Reynolds uses his tie and Shirt to choke Jack and put the brakes on EBJ’s overpowering. Alex stomping and running Jack into the posts. He hits a stomp off the apron. Jack sends Alex flying to the floor and starts to get his breath back. Powerslam! Kick out! Jack heads to the top but Reynolds meets him there. Jack shoves him off! Big splash for two! Jack is frustrated and starts to lose control until ref Gina has to pull him off. Reynolds grabs a HAMMER! Jack gets it away from him but Ref Gina has to confiscate it before he uses it. Reynolds uses the confusion to hit a ripcord gutbuster and gets the three. Booooooo!
Match 4: Big Trouble Ben Bishop vs DJ Powers
DJ’s moist. He’s really really moist. He tries to pose and taunt and whip his stupid wet hair at Bishop. Ben just pummels and tosses DJ around at will. DJ finally pokes the big man in the eye. Powers gets some offense but the crowd is DEEP in his head tonight. DJ out here and in our faces. Ben recovers and chokeslams him off the top! That’s the three! We love it. This was a cathartic delight.
Match 5: Liviyah vs Mercedes Martinez
A living LEGEND. Liv’s gonna LEARN something tonight. Martinez spends the opening minutes in full control of Liviyah. Just grinding her down with stomps, strikes and slams. Did Liv bite off way more than she could chew? Liv starts fighting back with roll ups. A big German! It’s short LIVed as Mercedes hits a rebound twisting suplex for a close two. Liv gets a crossface in…Mercedes fights free! Blu-ray! Spine buster! Mercedes starts with a surfboard but drags her back into a dragon sleeper for the tap out! This was as it should be.
Match 6: Bear Bronson vs Oxx Adams (w/ BRG)
Actually…BRG isn’t here? Oh wait, Brett attacks Bear from behind. Oxx gets in on the action. He tells Oxx to KILL Bear! Here comes Bobby Orlando to even the odds! Is this a tag match?!? Bear says he’s fine. And he wants a FIGHT! BRG wants to roll out but Bronson baits him in with an offer of putting their #1 tag team title contendership on the line!
Match 6: Mama Bears (Bear Bronson & Bobby Orlando) vs Simply the Best (BRG & Oxx Adams)
The bell doesn’t ring yet but both teams brawl through the crowd. Oxx eats the post early and BRG finds himself begging off a beating as the official match starts. Brett gets destroyed for a while until Oxx pulls
Him to the corner and gets himself into the fight. Beat takes the bulk of the beating as Wrestling Open champ Orlando is stuck watching from the apron. Bobby makes it in but he’s getting victimized the same. Bobby to the top but BRG drops him down and tries to steal the pin with feet on the ropes but Orlando kicks out! Bear finally tags back in and he’s in murder mode. Head to head with Oxx! The crowd rallies him hard! Bear throwing bombs but Oxx gets the throat…Bronson powers him off! Samoan drop! Bobby flies out to put Oxx down for good. BRG runs in but is met with a Fire Thunder Driver from Bronson for the three! Awesome energy here and Mama Bears will be facing the Ranch on Monday for the Open tag straps.
Intermission. We gotta rally before our QUADRUPLE MAIN EVENT! I chug a cold brew from tag team treats. It’s very good. What a crazy night!
Main Event 1: Cappuccino Jones(c) vs Mike Cunningham (for the WWEID Championship)
The crowd is HOT for Cappuccino. The match itself is a hotly contested blast. No one really owns the momentum for too long. Cunningham WANTS to embarrass Cappuccino in front of this supportive crowd but Jones drops Cunningham with a Frogsplash style elbow drop for the three! This was Stupid fun to watch.
Main Event 2: Laredo Kid vs Ichiban
This promises to be a FAST paced match up with former Open champ and the current AAA World Cruiserweight king. This is lucha as hell from the bell. Quick reversals and dives to the floor open it up. Ichiban proving to be able to hang with the champ, even after Laredo Kid transitions to trying to grind and slow Ichiban down with holds. Laredo almost gets the win with a 450 headbutt. Wild. Ichiban hits the Ichi Bankai! Kickout! Laredo rallies again as Ichiban heads to the top. He kicks out the legs and lands a Laredo Fly for the win! This was a blast.
Main Event 3: Willow Nightingale vs Gabby Forza
We are pumped for Willow to be home! This is a clash of two big strong ladies who are well loved in this room. They have a series of clashes but neither is moving much. Willow with a huge slam and basement crossbody! Gabby trying to power her way out of danger but Nightingale is a powerful force. Gabby is wearing down and stumbling as Willow continues to chop her down. Forza rolls away from a senton and starts hitting some big splashes in the corner! She airplane spins Willow. Slams her down and sentons! Willow wants the doctor bomb but Gabby won’t let it happen. Forza hits the stampede! Forearms back and forth! Willow hits a superplex but Gnomie rolls through and hits a damn jackhammer!!! Forza goes for the spear but Willow stuns her with an elbow…DOCTOR BOMB CONNECTS! Willow wins! Crowd loved this, especially after they hugged post match. Great to see Willow home.
Main Event 4: Mike Santana vs Fancy Ryan Clancy
Clancy has a LOT to prove here. And the crowd is OVERWHELMINGLY against him. Santana has to stop and take in just how much vitriol we have for Ryan at the moment. Clancy is so off that Santana is out chain wrestling him…and THEN chopping him to death. Clancy tries the dropkick but Santana has it scouted and replies with a pair of birds. Clancy tries a chop? Santana gives him a CHOP. And then there’s a ref out of position..and Clancy low blows Santana from behind…and Ref Scott is none the wiser. Clancy has the momentum and tries to put Santana down with a butterfly guillotine….its not enough! Clancy grabs a sleeper! It’s in deep. Santana fights free! Santana fires up, catches a leg and unloads! Huge chop to the back! Cutter for two! Santana to the top but Clancy gets there and suplexes him down! Clancy trying to get that pin! He’s trying to get the tap! He NEEDS this win! He spike piledrives Santana into the mat. The TNA champ kicks out! Santana blocks the dropkick into a DVD! Iconoclasym! Brain buster! Clancy kicks out! We may hate him but you have to respect his fight. A powerbomb can’t end it! Both guys are winded. Clancy drop kicks the lariat! Side Russian connects! Kick out! Clancy with the fancy splash! Kick out! Santana goes for the discus lariat, he takes out ref Scott! Clancy hits the dropkick! The refs out! No one can make the count! Another reason for Clancy to cry. Ryan grabs the TNA title from the stage. He swings and misses, tosses the belt to Santana and lands another dropkick! Ref Scott wakes up but it’s the slow count…Santana kicks out! The final sequence has them both fired up and Clancy loses his cool and comes running into a discus lariat that turns him inside out and Mike Santana gets the three. FANTASTIC main event. I am drained!
Santana on the mic. He loves that Beyond is still producing “nastiness like that”. He brings Clancy back in to take some cheers that he DOES deserve. He talks about his history with Beyond. Since 2014, Beyond has let him wrestle the greats and set him up for success. He talks about how awesome it was to see Beyond owner Denver Colorado on the night he won the TNA championship in Lowell last year. Clancy and Santana hug in the ring and maybe Ryan IS cryin’ a lil? Rad end to a fired up night of live wrestling.
