Luchadores vs. Everything Book Kickstarter Closes Thursday - Fully Funded - Pre-Order Now To Save
The 400+ page deluxe hardcover collector's edition of the book, funded in just 1 hour on Kickstarter, dives deep into the historic Calderón and García Besné film vaults filled with the films of El Santo, Blue Demon, Mil Mascaras and Las Luchadoras with over 70 text and art contributors including Amy "Lita" Dumas, Hijo de Blue Demon Jr, Lee Moriarty and Rick Knox
While Masked Republic, Viviana García Besné and Jeff Everett had high hopes that their book would find enough interest from supporters to be able to have the first edition print be a deluxe hardcover collectors edition, they did not expect that the book would be fully funded in 1 hour! For the last two weeks now, more and more backers have meant that the book has continued to expand both in page count (now 400+ pages) and bonus features. The most recent stretch goal has added a 4 page preview of Cinelucha's upcoming Film Frames Graphic Novel in Pan-Dimensional 3D and a pair of 3D glasses to each book.
As the campaign comes to an end this Thursday morning at 8:30 AM PT/11:30 AM ET, it will mark the end of the book being offered for pre-order below the cover price. Additionally, less than 25% of the projected print run remains available. The only way to be guaranteed a copy at the special Kickstarter price is to back the book prior to the end of the campaign.
From first two films of El Santo, shot in Cuba in the days leading up to Castro's ascension, to classics featuring Dracula, El Hombre Lobo, Frankestein and Hija del Frankestein, and from the most prolific luchadora films including La Mujer Murciélago (Bat Woman), Las Mujeres Panteras, and Las Lobas del Ring to the highly controversial "sexy versions" of Santo classics - the book covers more than 2 dozen classic films. Packed with never-before-seen materials such original shooting script pages, casting headshots, call sheets, private letters, contracts, lawsuits, producers’ personal notes and more… this is a unique chance to see into Viviana's family vault and the archives of her friends and collaborators - including many from the wrestling world.
