Spotlight Match: Rain Conway vs TJ Crawford
TJ is pretty sure he can control this match as long as he wants. He throws his gear in Conway’s face. He drags Rain to the floor and wears him down. Rain gets a single move in and decides he’s done enough to drop the singlet. Crawford goes back to slamming Conway at will and wraps up a crossface chicken wing to get the tap. What a classic Saturday Morning Squash.
Ichiban wanted a match with Fancy Ryan Clancy his week. Clancy refused, said he’d need to find a different opponent. So who is Ichiban fighting? Clancy’s music plays but he comes out in a suit. “I value our friendship more than a wrestling match. This match is never going to happen”. And here comes DJ Powers. Clancy claims innocence in this switch up. Powers sucks right up to Clancy, saying Ichi should be the one apologizing to him. DJ says he’s stepping up tonight.
Match 1: Ichiban vs DJ Powers
It’s a HOT start to Open tonight! Ichi flipping and flying. DJ trying to just pummel the original Open champ. This is wild and we just hit the five minute mark. The crowd pops big for a kickout after DJ catches his opponent with a cutter and Frogsplash. DJ keeps going for the win but Ichiban catches him with a rollup and jackknifes the legs for the three!
DJ keeps attacking after the bell! Clancy runs down to make the save. Ichiban turns around and sees Clancy and shoves him. Clancy is furious and challenges Ichi and Brando Lee in a handicap match next week! Wild that he’s cool with fighting Ichiban now.
Match 2: Post-Game (Mike Walker & Vinny Talotta w/ Hellfire McGuire) vs Wrench & Resolve (Jake Gray & Erik Chacha)
Wrench & Resolve could just sweep this match quick but OF COURSE, Hellfire McGuire hops up on the apron and Jake gets blindsided from the apron. Chacha could help but he gets sent off the apron too. Jake outta there finally and Chacha comes flying in. Kind of a weird exchange before Erik starts throwing his hardest kicks and drops both members of PostGame with a double dropkick. The double teaming persists until Jake can tag in, hit a Sliced Bread and Chacha off the ropes with a Frogsplash for the three. This felt like it started to come off the rails a little but we got there. Jake looks like he might be hurt. Hope he’s good.
Match 3: Kylie Alexa vs Alice Crowley
Kylie tries to take this not serious and taunt her way to victory. That’s not gonna work against Big Al. She takes a cheap toss on the ropes and just swarms. The strikes are coming as fast as her mouth can insult us. As always, I’m impressed that Kylie seemingly throws 3x her size into every attack. Alice has had enough of this and hits a big swinging slam for two. Kylie with a suplex into the buckles and puts the lights out with a basement corner dropkick. Big Al is down and out for the three.
One half of the tag team champs, Brian Morris, are out here. He’s mad that Steven Stetson cannot be here tonight. WE like that. Morris’ original opponent, Anthony Greene got hurt. Channing Thomas is ALSO hurt. “Our StarStruck problem handled itself”. Morris is mad that he now has a MYSTERY OPPONENT. WHO is it?????
Match 4: Wonderboy Brian Morris vs Corey Duke
ITS A COWBOY FIGHT!!!! Duke is more than happy to slap and chop Morris until he starts to look like leather. Brian Morris is just getting pummeled through these opening minutes and we just love seeing Ranch people losing. Brian hotshots Corey into the top rope and a running backhand cuts him down. Morris keeps the beating on and it looks like Duke is bleeding from the mouth. Corey rallies back, basement dropkick sets up a series of right hands that rock Morris. Springboard back elbow and an AA can’t get it done! Duke misses a moonsault and that lets Morris hit an angel’s wings for the win. Boooo!
Match 5: Tiara James vs Liviyah
Liviyah is out first and Tiara attacks her from behind AGAIN. The bell rings and Tiara goes for the quick pin but it’s not happening that quick. James just trying to step on Liv but that just irritates the Cranston fave. Big fight to the outside…Liv with a suplex on the floor! Will James FINALLY get what’s coming to her? Tiara tosses Liv from the top and starts driving her shoulder into her. Tiara presses with all her weight as she chokes Liv on the middle rope. Gutbuster across the shoulder for two as Tiara fires back on the crowd’s “bottom tier” chants for her. Tiara with a little arm spinebuster can’t get it down but Liv almost gets the rollup when James start arguing with the ref. Liv fires up with clotheslines and boots! Missile dropkick stuns Tiara! Liviyah hits a spear and finally puts down Tiara James for the three! Redemption!
Liviyah thanks Cranston for the support. She apologizes for having this drama take way longer than she hoped…but she’s ready to challenge herself even more for the future: Like in 2 weeks on 2/27? She calls out Mercedes Martinez for Beyond Wrestling’s “Ballroom Blitz”!
Main Event: Bryce Donovan & Vinny Scalise (w/ Smart Mark Sterling) vs Bear Bronson & Bobby Orlando
Last week, Bear defeated Max Caster to set this match up. He gets another shot at Bryce…but he gets to have Bryce’s former Shook Crew teammate Bobby Orlando on his team for this one. Rich Palladino announces that the winning team gets a shot against the Stetson Ranch for the tag team championships next week! Brian Morris is on commentary and he looks big mad about that. This match is pretty by the numbers in the early going. The faces dominate early, the heels cheat to get an advantage and beat on Bronson until Orlando tags in and runs over them. That said, the crowd is hot as hell for this one. Bryce tries a chokeslam but Bobby slips free. Bryce gets tossed into the waiting arms of Bronson but he decides to kick Bear low and get DQ’d.
“NOT LIKE THAT!!!!” screams Bear. Bear says he had a feeling something like this would happen. He went to Open officials…and in the instance that Bryce decided to cheat in the main event…..the match is restarted and it’s NO DQ….and it’s RIGHT NOW! If they don’t agree…they’re FIRED! The fight is on!!!!
Main Event: Bryce Donovan & Vinny Scalise (w/ Smart Mark Sterling) vs Bear Bronson & Bobby Orlando (NO DQ
Well, Bear and Bobby hit the floor and this becomes a huge ringside brawl. Bryce takes Bobby onto the commentary stage. Bear gets posted and it’s a 2 on 1 on the stage. Bryce grabs the mic and takes credit for the packed house. He says it’s his house and he can do whatever he wants so he shoves Rich Palladino around. RICH SHOVES BACK! Bryce looks to come at him but Bronson cuts that off! Bobby flies off the stage and stands on the chair I just vacated. The chaos continues. Bryce with a double arm ddt to Bear on the apron. Bobby topes to the floor! Orlando has a chair! He plants Vinny in the seat…Bryce interferes…Vinny with an iconoclasym into the chair!!! Bobby kicks out! An airplane spin slam…Orlando kicks out again! Scalise has a trash can! They put it over Bobby and kick it repeatedly. They go to smash it with chairs but here comes the big bear! He starts piling more chairs into the ring! He wants the fire thunder driver but Vinny cuts him off and Bryce Chokeslams him into the metal! Kick out! Miscommunication! Vinny throws a garbage can into Bryce’s face! Superkick on Vinny! Kickout! Bobby starts setting up a four square of chair. Scalise fighting the piledriver….he hits seated driver into the chair…OWWWWW. Bear breaks up the pin and sets the chairs back up! Vinny tries to escape but he gets powerslamed through them. Bryce saves the pin! This is pure bananas. It’s down to an angry bear and an angry Bryce throwing bombs. They sit down for a good ol bar fight in the chairs. Well….Bear does. Bryce looks uneasy about this. He tries to just attack Bronson and what a mistake that turns out to be. Bronson bounces Donovan’s face off the chairs repeatedly, ending the sequence with a bulldog into the metal. Bear wants a suplex into the garbage can but Sterling strikes with his metal cast. Vinny puts the garbage can over bears head…Bryce dropkicks the can…the ref throws up the X! Oh no! The refs help Bear to the back as he’s holding his eye. Bryce and Vinny laugh about it as Bobby comes off the top! BUT…this is no DQ and we have a 3 on 1 here. Vinny sets up with Sterling’s cast…they want a doomsday device?!? Bobby stops that but eats a huge splash combo…it’s not enough! They lay out Bobby again. Bryce going 12 to 6 with chair shots to the ribs. They’re gonna pillmanize his leg! Here comes Bear! He’s got his eye wrapped but he’s swining chair and wipes them both out! We got some doors in this house! Sterling swings a chair to protect Bryce. That was not smart. Or maybe it was? Bryce hits a double low blow! They set up the doors. Bear and Bobby slide off their shoulders…double spear into two doors! Bryce and Vinny are down and Bear has a door ready for Sterling. DVD into the door!!!!! Bryce thrown into Bear’s arms for the sitout chokebomb! They get the three in this absolutely manic main event match.
Rich has the stats for me. The first match was about 8.5 minutes…but the second match? A full 26 minutes of action. All told, about a 40-45 main event segment that flew. Wild night, I hope it played as well on stream.
