Monterey, Mexico: The next big thing in MMA is coming to The Mexico Fight League. Olympic hero Gable Steveson (2-0) will continue his MMA journey at MFL 3 on Thursday, February 19, from the Showcenter Complex in Monterey, Mexico.
Steveson will clash with experienced opponent Hugo Lezama (11-3) in the main event live and free worldwide on the official Mexico Fight League YouTube channel.
The Olympic gold medallist, multiple time NCAA Division 1 & Big Ten champion, and former WWE superstar has made national and international headlines since making his MMA debut last year. Now the 25-year-old will face his toughest test to date in MMA in veteran Hugo Lazema.
This will be Lazama’s fifteenth professional fight and boasts an 82% finishing ratio. Known as ‘Pandemonium’, Lazama has won four of his past five bouts, all via stoppage, and has been competing professionally for over a decade.
“I am excited to continue my MMA journey at Mexico Fight League 3. I have a great opportunity to go against one of Mexico’s solid veteran fighters,” said Gable Steveson. “This is all about growth for me and testing myself before I make that step up to the next level. But I come to take care of business and dominate. Tune in February 19 and be part of the ride.”
In the co-main event, Irving ‘Mustang’ Cardona (4-4) brings his non-stop action pace to the MFL cage and faces ‘Smooth’ Edgar Escarrega (12-4-1), who has won six of his past seven bouts and has emerged as one of Mexico’s top talents.
Among the other notable fights on the card, Matias Molero (4-2) known as 'El Papa De Los Heladas', aka 'The Ice Cream Daddy', aims to keep his 100% finishing ratio as he goes up against Ricardo Hurtado (2-3) and Monterrey's very own top undefeated exciting prospect Kevin Villareal (3-0) meets Kevin Arreola (3-3).
The rest of the card is filled with experienced veterans and rising talent from Mexico and Latin America.
All the action will be live and free on Mexico Fight League’s YouTube channel. Please visit FightMFL.com for more information on upcoming events.
