WWE Women's World Champion Stephanie Vaquer sat down with PWInsider.com to discuss her growing presence in WWE, her excitement over being part of WWE 2K26’s main roster, and how the WWE's global audience has embraced her since arriving in the company.
After appearing as downloadable content in last year’s WWE video game, Vaquer will now be part of the full, in-game roster for WWE 2K26. While she admits gaming was not originally her passion, being included in the franchise has changed that.
“I’m excited. I’m really excited,” Vaquer said. “I’m not a big fan of games, but now I’m a big fan because I’m not just there. It’s a really good game.”
When discussing potential dream scenarios inside WWE 2K26, Vaquer pointed to some exciting matchups she would love to see come to life in the game.
“Team with Rey Mysterio,” she said, before adding, “versus Ronda Rousey and Chyna.”
With WWE 2K26 featuring the largest roster in franchise history, Vaquer said narrowing down dream opponents is difficult, especially when it comes to legends of the past.
“There are many options, so I can’t pick just one,” Vaquer said. “Maybe Trish, Chyna, many female wrestlers from a long time ago. I really respect that.”
Vaquer also reflected on her journey to WWE from Chile and the international career she built before arriving in the company, noting how meaningful the fan response has been.
“It is really nice for me,” she said. “I had a long career before WWE in Japan, Mexico, and the UK. When I came here, people knew about that. People in WWE really know about wrestling.” She added that the support has helped her feel truly at home.
“I feel at home now,” Vaquer said. “The support they give me all the time, they really believe in me. It’s amazing.”
When asked why she believes audiences have connected with her so strongly, Vaquer pointed to authenticity and passion.
“For me, it’s not just my career, it’s not just my job—this is my life,” she said. “Every match for me, I put all my soul there. Everything with me in the ring is real. It’s my real name. It’s the real me.”
She continued, “I really sacrificed many years to learn this. I’m a real wrestler, so people can see that.”
Looking ahead to WWE 2K26’s new match types, Vaquer admitted she prefers traditional wrestling but is intrigued by the possibility of something more extreme.
“I’m more into classic matches,” she said. “But the Inferno match, wow, I want to try. I love fire and all that.”
Despite WWE’s massive production scale, Vaquer says she remains grounded by focusing on the fundamentals that brought her to this point.
“Before, I wrestled matches for 15 people in a small town in Mexico,” she said. “Now I can go in front of a big crowd, and for me it’s the same ring. My wrestling doesn’t change. My energy doesn’t change.”
When it comes to arenas, one legendary venue stands out.
“Maybe Madison Square Garden,” Vaquer said. “I have good memories there.”
Vaquer also shared her excitement about seeing herself recreated in WWE 2K26.
“It’s exciting. I look really good,” she said with a laugh. “I need to learn more about the game. I’m not good at it. But it’s really amazing.”
As WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas approaches, Vaquer embraced the chaos and excitement that come with WWE’s biggest season.
“I love Las Vegas. I love big shows,” she said. “WrestleMania is so busy, but I enjoy everything, the production, the interviews, the people there. I love staying busy.”
Vaquer also shared her thoughts on sharing the Raw locker room with WWE World Heavyweight Champio CM Punk, praising both his professionalism and passion for wrestling.
“I’m so happy Punk is there,” Vaquer said. “He is really a nice person with me. We talk a lot about wrestling, so I’m really happy. I know he’s a big star, so I hope one day I am on the cover too.”
Finally, Vaquer shared her message to fans eagerly awaiting WWE 2K26.
“I’m sure they will enjoy this game because it has a big roster,” she said. “You can make many crazy matches and different kinds of matches. And now I’m there, so I’m excited—and I know people are excited about that too.”
